What Manner of Man is This? The Savior and Redeemer of the World

After the Savior rebuked the storm, he gently chided his disciples for their unbelief, who, after seeing him calm the storm said to each other

"What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"

He is Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World, the only begotten son of God in the Flesh,our hope, our salvation, and our Advocate with the Father.

May we all look to the Savior with increased faith in all we do.

Families Can Be Together Forever

Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, together with the restoration of his gospel today, the truth that families can be together forever is again on the earth.  May we be grateful for this plan that we may dwell with God again with our families, and enjoy the blessings of families on this earth.  If you are viewing this by email, click the title link to be taken to where you may view this.

I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it...

"Joseph described himself as “an obscure boy…who was doomed to the necessity of obtaining a scanty maintenance by his daily labor.” His mother describes him as “being a remarkably quiet, well-disposed child,….given to meditation and deep study.”

Young Joseph was inquisitive and hard working, but above all he was honest of heart. Of those years he says, “Though I was hated and persecuted for saying that I had seen a vision, yet it was true….I knew it, and I knew God knew it, and I could not deny it, neither dared I do it.”

Picture and message is by Joseph Brickey, the artist of this painting

Joseph Smith did see God the Father and his son, Jesus Christ.  In his own words,

"I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me.

It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!"

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest..."

May we all come unto Christ, for he pleads to us to "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." From the title page, it is "to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations" Prophets were told by God what to include in the book for us in our day. Moroni says "Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not. But behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me, and I know your doing." From the Prophet Joseph Smith “I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." I am the Light and Life of the World

The Savior is the Light and Life of the World "And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning" (3 Nephi 11:11 http://bit.ly/12Rtrnb ).

And My Presence Shall Be There...

The temple is the house of the Lord.  May we all go there often to feel of the spirit, and to feel of the presence of the Lord as we do the work of those who have gone before us.

"And inasmuch as my people build a house unto me in the name of the Lord, and do not suffer any unclean thing to come into it, that it be not defiled, my glory shall rest upon it;

Yea, and my presence shall be there, for I will come into it, and all the pure in heart that shall come into it shall see God" (D & C 97:15-16 http://bit.ly/14GTNd6 )

Come, Come Ye Saints

Today is the day we commemorate the early saints coming west after the horrible persecution they faced in other areas for just wanting to live their faith.  Many of them lived and were willing to die for the Gospel they loved so much.  May we all be modern-day pioneers and follow their example, and take joy in the words of the Hymn Come, Come ye Saints.  At the last day, after a life spent in the service of the Savior and others, may we be able to declare with Joy "All is Well"

Come, come, ye saints, no toil nor labor fear;
But with joy wend your way.
Though hard to you this journey may appear,
Grace shall be as your day.
Tis better far for us to strive
Our useless cares from us to drive;
Do this, and joy your hearts will swell -
All is well! All is well!

Why should we mourn or think our lot is hard?
'Tis not so; all is right.
Why should we think to earn a great reward
If we now shun the fight?
Gird up your loins; fresh courage take.
Our God will never us forsake;
And soon we'll have this tale to tell-
All is well! All is well!

We'll find the place which God for us prepared,
Far away, in the West,
Where none shall come to hurt or make afraid;
There the saints, will be blessed.
We'll make the air, with music ring,
Shout praises to our God and King;
Above the rest these words we'll tell -
All is well! All is well!

And should we die before our journey's through,
Happy day! All is well!
We then are free from toil and sorrow, too;
With the just we shall dwell!
But if our lives are spared again
To see the Saints their rest obtain,
Oh, how we'll make this chorus swell-
All is well! All is well!

The Great Mediator

Can you see the Savior praying to the Father for you, so that through prayer you may be comforted in trials, may be forgiven, and may return back to the presence of the Father, all by the power of the Atonement?  Lehi spoke to his sons of looking to the Savior, the Great Mediator.

"And now, my sons, I would that ye should look to the great Mediator, and hearken unto his great commandments; and be faithful unto his words, and choose eternal life, according to the will of his Holy Spirit; "

May we all look to the Great Mediator, even Christ, who makes intercession for us with the Father, and so gain eternal life again with him.

Suffer the little children...

Posting this again.  The message and scripture comes from the artist of this picture, Liz Lemon Swindle, who continues to paint pictures of the Savior even though she has rheumatoid arthritis, and every brush stroke is painful.

"When the people brought their little children to the Savior His disciples rebuked them, but Jesus replied, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:13-14).

The Savior must have loved being surrounded by those perfect little souls who loved Him so dearly. I can imagine Him smiling as He watched them play and laughing as they told Him stories, the kind of simple and innocent stories all little children tell. I know they felt His love and longed to stay by His side.

This picture reminds me that no matter how old we get, we are still little children of a loving Father in Heaven."

The Standard of Truth...

This work is led by Jesus Christ, and it will roll forth unhindered. May we all be grateful yet saddened by the sacrifices of Joseph Smith and the early saints so that we may have the truths of the Restoration

“The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done” (History of the Church, 4:540)

He is Risen

"The greatest message of hope is not found in the crucifixion but in the empty tomb. When Mary arrived on that first Easter morning she found the stone rolled away and two angels standing inside. One turned to her and said, “Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen” - Luke 24:5-6

Like Mary, each of us will face the loss of a loved one. One does not live long without experiencing the sorrow that comes with death and the longing for a glorious reunion. The miracle of the empty tomb is not just that He rose, but that because He did we will too. Each of us will leave our own empty tombs and be reunited with those we love.

It is the promise and hope of our own glorious resurrections that we hear in those angelic words, “He… is risen.”

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows

Please take a moment to read the beautiful words of Isaiah about the Savior, for the Savior knows us, understands us, as no one ever can, and has atoned for our sins because he loves us.  "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.  ¶Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  (Isaiah 53:2-5 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/ot/isa/53.2-5?lang=eng#1 )

The Good Shepherd

In this scripture the Savior states that he knows us, that he lays down his life for us, and that there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.  What wonderful words of peace and comfort.

"I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." (John 10:14-16 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/10.14-16 )

I Have Prayed For Thee

The Savior praying in the Americas.  How must he pray for us? What marvelous things he must ask the Father for on our behalf?  "And when he had said these words, he himself also knelt upon the earth; and behold he prayed unto the Father, and the things which he prayed cannot be written, and the multitude did bear record who heard him. And after this manner do they bear record: The eye hath never seen, neither hath the ear heard, before, so great and marvelous things as we saw and heard Jesus speak unto the Father; And no tongue can speak, neither can there be written by any man, neither can the hearts of men conceive so great and marvelous things as we both saw and heard Jesus speak; and no one can conceive of the joy which filled our souls at the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father" (3 Nephi 17:15-17).

To Know the Love of Christ

The purpose of this life is to come to know the Savior that we may be filled with his love.  "And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God." (Ephesians 3:19)
To have that charity is to gain the fulness of God.  "charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him." (Moroni 7:47 in the Book of Mormon)

For God So Loved the World

As you watch this, I hope you take a moment to be grateful for the life, atonement, death, and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).

The Mount of Transfiguration

The Mount of Transfiguration is a sacred account with the Savior and some of the early apostles.  "And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.  And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.  And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus...And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. and suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.  And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead." (Mark 9:2-4, 7-9 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/mark/9?lang=eng )

Jesus Is Resurrected

After he suffered in Gethsemane and Golgotha, the Savior rose again on the third day claiming the victory over sin and death, being the firstfruits of them that slept.  May we ever be grateful for our Savior's sacrifice for us, that we may be resurrected and live with him and our Father in Heaven again.  If you are viewing this by email, click the title link to be taken to where you may view this.

Light of the World

In a world seemingly full of turmoil, the Love of the Savior stretches from before the foundations of the Earth into the eternities and beyond. It never ends. The power of his love can change our hearts, and prepare us to live in the presence of God. Our salvation is his very reason for existence. He is personal enough to know the pains in the quiet chambers of our hearts, and can help transform those into lives filled with Love. He can work miracles in all of our lives, and truly does, if we but have faith and come unto him.  "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"  (John 14:6 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/14.6?lang=eng#5 ;John 3:16 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/3.16?lang=eng#15 )

A Gift to the World

This is the first church video about the Life of the Savior. He is the Savior of the World, our Redeemer, and was sent here by our Father in Heaven as an infant to grow to fulfill his mission on earth. May we ever be grateful for the plan of our Father in Heaven that hinges on the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

This quote is from the Book of Mormon where Christ appeared to the people of the Americas after he was resurrected. Read the full account by clicking here http://bit.ly/10EFpma and praying to know of its truth.

"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.

And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning." Testimony of the Book of Mormon

A story about the Book of Mormon by Elder Holland.  It truly cost the best blood of the 19th Century.  It is a priceless gift from God, meant for us in our day, brought to us at a heavy cost.  May we all be grateful for that.

Seeking the One...

We are all sons and daughters of a King, children of the Lord.  Find out more by reading his promises online and praying about its truth at http://bit.ly/10t8QYm

What a wonderful parable is the lesson of the ninety and nine and the one.

"What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?"

Our Father in Heaven seeks all of his children to return to him, and the Savior wrought out the atonement so that any who come to him may be forgiven.

May we all remember that in our daily lives, and seek to be less judgemental, and more Christlike in our service to others.

The Good Samaritan

Find out more about Christ's Teachings.  Read the Promise of the Book of Mormon online now at http://bit.ly/10t8QYm

Such a powerful lesson is the parable of the good samaritan.  What we do matters, and how we help others as the Savior would have us do is what will be of most worth to us and him.

"But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise." (Luke 10:25-37)

Finding Faith in Christ

The Film about the life of the Savior. May we all study his life and follow his example, both from the New Testament, and in the Book of Mormon. If we do that we will feel of his spirit more strongly in our lives. It will erase any blocks we may have about following him, for that is what the spirit does.

Living Water...The Woman at the Well

Love the Bible?  Find out more about Christ by reading the Promise of the Book of Mormon online now at http://bit.ly/10t8QYm or get a free copy at http://bit.ly/11WKJ1G

“whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” - John 4:14

"In this account we hear Christ bear witness to the woman at the well that He is the way to exaltation...

I believe it is a common heritage of the human experience that we thirst for truth as well.  Just as physical water sustains and relieves our thirst, the water that Christ gives us, the Gospel, gives relief to our souls, heals our wounds and makes our burdens light.

Christ stands before not just the woman, but all mankind, and testifies that He is the Son of God.  If we would drink of the truths of the gospel, seek after Him and do His will, we will thirst no more, and those truths will lift us up unto eternal life with our Father in Heaven."
