Greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven

I love this picture of the Savior with a child. May we all remember what he said about becoming like little children, and become as little children ourselves, trusting, loving. Here is the account:

"At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."

Christ Declares he is the fulfillment of Isaiah's Prophecy

Christ Declares in Nazareth that He is the Messiah, the fulfillment of the prophecy given by Isaiah. "And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias.

And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears." (Luke 4:16-21 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/luke/4.16-21?lang=eng#15 )

Jesus Christ was and is the Promised Messiah. He lives today and continues on with this great work of Salvation for the souls of man. He loves each of us, individually with a love that is unique to you. He will one day stand to judge all. At that time may our minds and hearts be purified, so that we may be worthy to live in his presence and the presence of the Father.

The Gentle Christ - ye shall find rest unto your souls

"Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:29-30 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/11.29-30?lang=eng#28 ).

May we all come to know the love of the Savior of our souls, have him take our burdens, and in him find rest. He descended below all things in the Garden and on the cross so that he would have the gentleness and compassion to comfort and lift us in our trials. He is the gentle Christ.

As you pray to our Father in Heaven, I hope you take the time to thank him for the gift of his only begotten son, our loving Savior, and let the Father know how much you love him and the Savior. Then take a moment to feel of the Love he has for you, the love which changes all.

You will never be the same again.

Christ the Lord

"I am Alpha and Omega, Christ the Lord; yea, even I am he, the beginning and the end, the Redeemer of the world.

I, having accomplished and finished the will of him whose I am, even the Father, concerning me—having done this that I might subdue all things unto myself—" (D&C 19:1-2 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/19.1-2 )

The Savior has overcome all things so that we can return home again, and so that here we may be comforted, strengthened, helped, encouraged, and may feel of God's love in all ways and in all righteous things.

All the tender feelings of the spirit, all of the miracles that happen, all of the love we feel and the good we do are made possible by the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

And because of that, we may inherit all the Father has.

The Mount of Transfiguration

The Mount of Transfiguration "And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus...

And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. and suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves. And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead." The Lord's Prayer

The Savior prayed "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." (3 Nephi 13:9-13, also in Matthew 6:9-13 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/13.9-13?lang=eng#8 , https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/6?lang=eng ).

May we all pray to our Father in Heaven, in the name of Christ, and be able to feel of their love for us.  May we be as meek and humble as the Savior as we pray to our Father in Heaven.  We are his children, and he will answer our prayers, and comfort us, strengthen us, and lift us in all things.

"I am filled with the Power of God"

When Nephi's brothers tried to kill Nephi for trying to build a ship, he said to them "In the name of the Almighty God, I command you that ye touch me not, for I am filled with the power of God, even unto the consuming of my flesh; and whoso shall lay his hands upon me shall wither even as a dried reed; and he shall be as naught before the power of God, for God shall smite him...

And it came to pass that the Lord said unto me: Stretch forth thine hand again unto thy brethren, and they shall not wither before thee, but I will shock them, saith the Lord, and this will I do, that they may know that I am the Lord their God.

And it came to pass that I stretched forth my hand unto my brethren, and they did not wither before me; but the Lord did shake them, even according to the word which he had spoken.

And now, they said: We know of a surety that the Lord is with thee, for we know that it is the power of the Lord that has shaken us. And they fell down before me, and were about to worship me, but I would not suffer them, saying: I am thy brother, yea, even thy younger brother; wherefore, worship the Lord thy God, and honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long in the land which the Lord thy God shall give thee." Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World

"Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God...He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come." (Read more at http://bit.ly/1bAqOhI From The Living Christ, The Testimony of the Apostles ).

Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World is real. He is involved in the details of our lives and is there for us if we reach out to him. We can know for ourselves that he is real, and that he loves us if we will ask our Father in Heaven in Christ's name. The Love of the Savior is only a prayer away, as we pour out our hearts to our Father in Heaven in prayer.

Christ's church has been restored to the earth, with all of the blessings from previous Biblical times. The Gospel, once lost, has been restored by the Power of God for our times.

The Life and the Light of the World

"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I am the life and the light of the world. I am the same who came unto mine own and mine own received me not; But verily, verily, I say unto you, that as many as receive me, to them will I give power to become the sons [and daughters] of God, even to them that believe on my name." (D & C 11:28-30 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/11.28-30 )

As we have more Faith in Christ our hearts will be changed, our desires will become more like his, and at the last day we will embrace our Savior having become like him, and what joy will fill our hearts at that time. To really feel his loving arms around us, to feel joy that we have lived our lives so that we become like him, and to gain our exaltation as we continue serving the Lord and helping others to feel of that love we have felt.

We can feel a bit of that love every day of our lives as we serve others and do the work of the Lord. And we will be able to share that love with others who don't have that in their lives. Glory be to God for this marvellous plan of salvation that we have.

Pour your hearts out to the Father in gratitude and faith, do his work, and feel of the Love of the Savior in return. For because of him, we have light in our own lives.

I am the Resurrection and the Life

Before the Savior raised Lazarus from the dead he said "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:" (John 11:25 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/11.25 )

We will all live again, and will have the chance to return to the presence of our Father in Heaven, if we will but turn to the Savior, he who is our Redeemer, our Advocate with the Father, and in whom is power over all things through love. May we ever come and follow him.

The Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Jesus Christ

Please share-The Book of Mormon, with the Bible, is the inspired Word of God. From the title page, it is "to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations"

Prophets were told by God what to include in the book for us in our day. Moroni says "Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not. But behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me, and I know your doing."

In the promise of the Book of Mormon, we are encouraged to pray about it and then ask God if it is true. The Prophet Moroni said

"And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." Moroni 10:3-5

"With me ye shall find rest"

Please share. After we have finished our mission in this life, can we imagine being embraced by the Savior when it is time to return home? What joy will fill our hearts at that time if we have endured to the end and followed him. Can we imagine him saying to us:

"Come unto me in my kingdom; and with me ye shall find rest” (3 Ne. 28:3 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/28.3?lang=eng#2 )

Further, can we imagine after a lifetime of service to the Lord being welcomed back by him saying "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (Matthew 25:21 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/25.21 )

What sublime peace will fill our hearts at that time. Until it is our time to return home, may we live worthy of the companionship of the spirit, for it is sent by our Father in Heaven in the Savior's name for us, to comfort, strengthen, and help us. When we have the spirit we feel just as if the Savior were there, beside us. I pray that all may feel of that joy, for it is free unto all who come unto the Savior.

"Full of Grace and Truth"

Today's profound message comes from Simon Dewey, the artist of this painging, Grace and Truth:
"I love the Gospel of John. The opening verses of chapter one are at once poetic and sublime, simple yet profound:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God....In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” To each of us on this journey home, John’s powerful witness of the Savior remains a guide as we come to realize the reality of it for ourselves. “We beheld his glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” -Simon Dewey

May we all live worthy so that when we see the Savior, we will be able to behold his glory, and live in his presence again. He is the Life and the Light of men. And he is real, and involved in the details of our lives, and if we trust in him, he will lead us back to our heavenly home.

We are our Father in Heaven's children

May we all become as little children, alive in Christ, trusting him and taking joy in the smallest of God's creations. "But little children are alive in Christ, even from the foundation of the world." (Moroni 8:12). And in the new testament we read "Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 18:3 ). May we all remember that we are our Father in Heaven's children, and he takes joy in us as he helps lift us, protect us, comfort us and strengthen us.

Enter into the Joy of the Lord

In the parable of the Talents, the Lord says the following "Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (Matthew 25:23)

The Doctrine and Covenants goes further and gives the promise: "And whoso is found a faithful, a just, and a wise steward shall enter into the joy of his Lord, and shall inherit eternal life." (D & C 51:19)

I can only imagine the smile, and the joy the Savior will feel as he sees us enter into his kingdom, and can only imagine how we will feel in his warm embrace at that time.

May we ever live worthy of that.

The Living Christ - From those who have seen him

From Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ, men who have seen the Resurrected Savior: "Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God...He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come." (The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles http://bit.ly/1bAqOhI )

And from the Prophet Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father— That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God." (Doctrine and Covenants 76:22-24 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/76.22-24?lang=eng#21 )

"Behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me, and I know your doing"

The Book of Mormon was meant for us, today. The Savior showed the prophets of the Book of Mormon our day, because he knew what we would need to know. Listen to Moroni: "Behold, the Lord hath shown unto me great and marvelous things concerning that which must shortly come, at that day when these things shall come forth among you. Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not. But behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me, and I know your doing" (Mormon 8:34-35 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/morm/8.34-35?lang=eng#33 )

The Book of Mormon was kept and preserved, and hidden away by Moroni and revealed by God for us in our day. The Book of Mormon is not just another Book of Scripture. The word of God, as given from the Savior to his prophets, has been given to us so that it might speak the truth to generations seeking after the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Bread of Life

The Savior truly is the living bread and water of life. "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst" (John 6:35 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/6.35?lang=eng#34 )

The words of Christ are more important than the very food we eat. We are wholly dependent upon the Savior for all we are and have. He is there for us every moment of every day. His power is what sustains us. May we be grateful for the spiritual and physical "bread of life" that he provides us to sustain us.

Feel the sweet peace of his love for you

"Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend. And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them" (Mosiah 4:9-10 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/4.9-10?lang=eng#8 )

God is over all. He is always there. Repent, and come unto him, and you will feel the sweet peace of his love for you.  He can comfort you in the furthest reaches of your heart.  He can strengthen you as you turn to him.  He can lift and encourage you as you rely on his love.  And he will help you to return back to his presence, will welcome you home, so you can dwell with him forever as your faith in him becomes perfect.

Not my will, but thine, be done

The Savior prayed to the Father "nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done." May we remember "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (Scriptures Luke 22:42 http://bit.ly/1bDQTsL ; John 3:16 http://bit.ly/12NHwk2 ).

The Savior was obedient in all things that were asked of him, and because of that, we can return and live with him and our Father in Heaven again. The Lord doesn't ask us to go through what the Savior went through, just wants us to be obedient to his commandments. May we remember the sacrifice of the Savior, and as we pray to our Father in Heaven in gratitude for the Savior's sacrifice, may we feel of his love for us.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan - The Lesson in it from the Savior

There is much to be learned in the Parable of the Good Samaritan. Take a moment to read this, for the lesson the Savior would have us learn is at the end.

But he...said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise" (Luke 10:29-37 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/luke/10.30-37 ).

May we all serve others in whatever way we can. May we lift those who are downtrodden, comfort those in need of comfort, and assist those who most need the Love of the Savior.

A Conversion Story - The Lord's words, the Lord's Power and the Lord's Promises

How great will be your joy if you bring just one soul to the Father. A conversion story: "the Lord's words, the Lord's power and the Lord's promises"

The work is going forward. Here is a story from my niece who is on a mission in California, and her story of the conversion of a man she was teaching (she is a new missionary).

In her words; "We also have another baptism coming up this weekend. He's an older gentleman and met the missionaries at the Oakland temple visitors center..., and then started learning everything down here. The other sisters had only taught a lesson or two, but he was very hesitant to be baptized. I think it was my third lesson with him that we finally committed him. Okay fine, I did it. First baptismal commitment of the mish. It was actually one of the most powereful ones I've felt since being out here. We were in the middle of a lesson when my scriptures blew open to a passage about baptism I had marked. I felt impressed to have him read it, so I did. Sis Poz had no idea what I was doing, here is this little greenie ruining a perfectly good lesson, but afterwards I was able to promise him specific things that I never could have thought of on my own. My words were not my own. They were the Lord's words, the Lord's power and the Lord's promises. It was so neat. Everyone was tearing up. And he said he'd be baptized! So yeah." Sister Katie Monson

As the prophet Joseph said “The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done” (History of the Church, 4:540).

May we all be ready to be an example and to share the gospel with others. How great will be your joy. You will never regret having said something and providing that opportunity to hear more. You are doing the work of the Lord.

It is never just one that comes to the gospel. When one is converted to the gospel, it also brings thousands of their posterity to the gospel, and makes it possible for temple work to be done for generations of their ancestors as they do their work for them.

What Thinks Christ of Me?

From an apostle of the Lord, one who has seen the Resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ. "I witness that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. He suffered and died for our sins and rose the third day. He is resurrected. In a future day, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is the Christ. On that day, our concern will not be, 'Do others consider me Christian?' At that time, our eyes will be fixed on Him, and our souls will be riveted on the question, 'What thinks Christ of me?'"

Elder Holland Talks about Conference, and where to watch it

General Conference is this weekend.  Read this powerful quote from Elder Holland about what Conference is "a general conference of the Church is a declaration to all the world that Jesus is the Christ, that He and His Father, the God and Father of us all, appeared to the boy prophet Joseph Smith in fulfillment of that ancient promise that the resurrected Jesus of Nazareth would again restore His Church on earth and again “come in like manner as [those Judean Saints had] seen him [ascend] into heaven.”

"This conference and every other conference like it is a declaration that He condescended to come to earth in poverty and humility, to face sorrow and rejection, disappointment and death in order that we might be saved from those very fates as our eternity unfolds, that “with his stripes we are healed.” This conference proclaims to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people the loving Messianic promise that “his mercy endureth for ever.” (Prophets in the Land again, October 2006 General Conference).

May we all tune in to listen to the Lord's authorized servants testify of Christ and his Gospel. Watch or listen live on BYUTV online or through your local cable provider at (https://www.byutv.org/), the Mormon Channel http://www.mormonchannel.org, the church's mobile app (video on iOS only), Church Roku channel (http://www.roku.com/channels/#!details/6448/mormon-channel), or at the LDS Website at http://www.gc.lds.org
