Marriage ordained from Before The Foundations of the World

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints acknowledges that following today's ruling by the Supreme Court, same-sex marriages are now legal in the United States. The Court's decision does not alter the Lord's doctrine that marriage is a union between a man and a woman ordained by God. While showing respect for those who think differently, the Church will continue to teach and promote marriage between a man and a woman as a central part of our doctrine and practice." (Supreme Court Decision Will Not Alter Doctrine on Marriage, online at http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/supreme-court-decision-will-not-alter-doctrine-on-marriage )

The Church has outlined its doctrine and position on marriage in the document The Divine Institution of Marriage available at http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/the-divine-institution-of-marriage

The above statement shows our Church has the courage to stand strong against the tide of opposition in the world.  They will ever do so.  May each of us have the courage to stand strong for our convictions and our faith.  For marriage between a man and a woman was ordained from before the foundations of the world, and extends into the eternities and beyond, and is at the core of our Father in Heaven's plan for his children.

May we ever be courageous in our defense of the truth, even as we are compassionate to those who do not share our beliefs.
