The Great Intercessory Prayer

Before the trial of Gethsemane, Christ offered the Great Intercessory prayer.  There has not been a greater prayer offered on our behalf, except possibly to those in the Americas.  The intercessory prayer is not given here completely, but you may read all of it by going to the link below.

He began by saying "Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee"  He stated that life eternal was to know the Father, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom he had sent.

Our Savior spoke of what he had done in his earthly ministry, and of what he would do in the future by saying "I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do."  He further asked that the Father glorify him with the Glory he had before the world was.

Then he prayed on our behalf, and that of the apostles.  He asked "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:"

Our Savior knew what he would have to do, for he was told on the Mount of Transfiguration, and at this time right before his greatest trials, he prayed and asked for strength, and turned his prayer towards us, and petitioned the Father in our behalf.

In our trials, our sufferings, and in our own Gethsemanes, may we all turn to the Father, to Christ, and think of others as we do.

So that we may become one with Christ and the Father.   But the story isn't done here...

The Last Supper - that Sacred Meeting

The Twelve and the Savior met in an upper room for the Passover, a sacred time.  At that time, the Savior dismissed Judas, he who would betray him, saying "What thou doest, do quickly."

He washed the apostles feet, an ordinance still done by the apostles today, thus giving another example of service, stating to Peter that if he didn't allow him to wash his feet, he had no part of him, Christ.  So for us, we must accept the service done by Christ to be saved.

He instituted the Sacrament, taking bread, braking it, and gave it to them, reminding them that it was his body, given for them.  Then he gave them to drink, saying that the cup was his blood, which was shed for them.  We take the sacrament each week.  How well do we remember the Savior, and what he did for all of us?

He said to Love one another, as he had loved them.  How well do each of us do that?

He said "Peace, I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you.

He told the twelve what would happen soon, that he wouldn't be with them for very long.  He said that in him they would be able to have peace.

He declared that the twelve would have tribulations, but that he had overcome the world.  The twelve still didn't understand that he would be delivered to death, or that he would be resurrected, though the Savior had taught that to them.

Watch a video about this at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=997ni1xcmKw

But the full import of what he would do would not come until later...

The Savior's Triumphal entry into Jerusalem

On the week before his his death, on the day now known as Palm Sunday, the Savior entered into Jerusalem on a donkey, fulfilling Zechariah's prophecy in the Old Testament which said "Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an [donkey's] colt."

He was thronged by people who had palm leaves, who greeted him by saying "Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord."

So much would change during this week after Christ's Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. This was the last time he would be so accepted, as later the Jews called for his death, and the real triumph would come much later...(more tomorrow)

Because He Lives, He is Here

Because he lives, all of us can turn to the Savior for everything and anything we may need.  He is our Savior, our Redeemer, and all that is good in our lives, all of the comfort we receive, all of the help given, is because he lives.

The Comforter-as if the Savior were right there

When we have the Holy Ghost, or the Comforter, it is as if the Savior were there with us. "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;" (John 14:16 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/14.16 ) .

How many times when we have hard times would we love to have the Savior there, beside us, comforting us, strengthening us, and helping us in every way. Through the spirit and with the power of prayer, it can be that way.

May we ever turn to the Savior of all in all things, in sickness and in health, good times and bad, and feel of his comforting influence.

The light, the life and the hope of the World

"Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God...He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come." More about Christ at http://bit.ly/1bAqOhI (The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles).

Who would not want to follow someone who took upon himself our burdens, so that we would not have to pay them? Yet so many people don't. And still, he beckons all to come unto him. He truly is the light, the life and the hope of the World. He is there to comfort us in this life, and will be there to embrace us at the last day. He will ever comfort us as we turn to him.

Let your hearts be poured out in gratitude and love to him, and you will feel his love for you in return.  And then serve others and help them feel of that love, too.

Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord

May we all look forward to that day, after a life of service, when we enter the Kingdom of God. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant...enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matthew 25:21 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/25.21 ).

The scriptures further teach “For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” (Revelations 7:17 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/rev/7.17 ).

May we seek out the Savior, and follow him, so that we may have peace in this life, and at the end, be welcomed by his warm embrace into the kingdom of the Father.

Come unto Him, and he will give you rest

May we all come unto Christ, for he pleads to us to "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30) Elder Talmage calls this "the greatest spiritual outpouring."

The Savior is pleading with us to come unto him, to learn of him, and have our burden become light. With all of the love in his heart, he beckons us to partake of the light and love he has to offer us, and to help change us forever.

May we do that, come unto him, and in him find rest.

God So Loved the World

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (http://bit.ly/12NHwk2) Of this truth the Savior said to Peter "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (http://bit.ly/16y1Yey)

The Savior loves us with a love we cannot comprehend. He descended below all things so that we may return back to him and our Father in Heaven again with our families. He will ever be there for us to strengthen us, lift us, and comfort us, and to bind us together in love.

May we all take the time to pour our hearts out in gratitude to our Father in Heaven for the gift of his only begotten son, and take a moment afterwards to wait for the Lord's response through the spirit. Then, may we love others as the Savior would have us do.

Jesus once was a little child

The Picture is called Jesus once was a little child. The description for this picture comes from the artist, Liz Lemon Swindle. The read is just as wonderful as the picture is.

"The Bible contains a single verse describing the Savior´s childhood, "And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him." - Luke 2:40

I could imagine Mary looking on while her Son played with his brothers and sisters (Matt. 13:55-56). I could see Joseph smiling while Jesus laughed and played with friends and family. I wanted to capture that magical innocence of childhood, which blesses our lives for such a short moment and then leaves us longing for the sound of little feet and the laughter of little children.

I am reminded of a song I learned as little girl:

Jesus once was a little child,
A little child like me;
And he was pure and meek and mild,
As a little child should be.

So, little children,
Let’s you and I
Try to be like him,
Try, try, try."

Come unto Christ, for he beckons all to "Come unto Me"

The Savior beckons all to come unto him and be comforted, strengthened, lifted, and ultimately, be exalted with our families. All of these things happen because of him, because of his atonement. Yet he doesn't want us to suffer as he did, and so beckons all to come unto him.

He said "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

May we all come unto him, follow him, obey him, and find our peace and joy through him.  And we will eventually return to him again, rejoicing with him, the Father, and our Families. For heaven wouldn't be heaven without God's children.

The Bread of Life

The Savior truly is the living bread and water of life. "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst" (John 6:35 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/6.35 )

The words of Christ are more important than the very food we eat. We are wholly dependent upon the Savior for all we are and have. He is there for us every moment of every day. His power is what sustains us. May we be grateful for the spiritual and physical "bread of life" that he provides us to sustain us.

The Savior, Jesus Christ

"He was the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament, the Messiah of the New. Under the direction of His Father, He was the creator of the earth. “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3).

Though sinless, He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38), yet was despised for it. His gospel was a message of peace and goodwill. He entreated all to follow His example. He walked the roads of Palestine, healing the sick, causing the blind to see, and raising the dead.

He taught the truths of eternity, the reality of our premortal existence, the purpose of our life on earth, and the potential for the sons and daughters of God in the life to come." (The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles. Learn more about Christ at http://bit.ly/1bAqOhI )

As stated by his special witnesses, The Savior, Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the World, who taught the truths of eternity, and continues to do so through apostles and prophets. He is there for us as we turn to him. May we ever be grateful for him.

"The Son of Man hath descended below them all."

During the trials of Liberty Jail, the Lord said to Joseph Smith to comfort him "The Son of Man hath descended below them all."

The Greatest of all will never let us suffer more than we are able, but will lift us and comfort us. If we pour our hearts out to our Father in Heaven, in the name of Christ, through the power of the Atonement, and through the spirit, he can and will lift us.

He is the compassionate Savior, he who descended below all things so that he might "draw all men unto him," so that we may be comforted in this life, and gain eternal life in the world to come.

He lives today, and is there. Reach out to him in prayer and find out for yourself.

The Atonement of Christ

This quote comes from yesterday's lesson on Christ in Priesthood and Relief Society, and the message comes from the First Presidency message about Christ.  Such powerful lessons come when we ponder the atonement of the Savior.

President Benson also said “We declare the divinity of Jesus Christ. We look to Him as the only source of our salvation.”  (Manual, online at https://www.lds.org/manual/teachings-of-presidents-of-the-church-ezra-taft-benson/chapter-6-jesus-christ-our-savior-and-redeemer )

As a part of the Atonement, we are told in Luke 22, that the Savior was "in agony."

President Uchtdorf relates more about the atonement, and relates what modern revalation tells us the Savior went through "He took upon Himself the burden of our sins and paid an eternal and binding ransom not only for Adam’s original transgression but also for the sins and transgressions of the billions upon billions of souls who have ever lived. This eternal, sacred sacrifice caused “even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit” (D&C 19:18).

"My soul overflows with gratitude when I contemplate the precious meaning of this sacrifice. It humbles me to know that all who accept this gift and incline their hearts to Him can be forgiven and cleansed of their sins, no matter how dark their blemish or how oppressive their burden.

We can be made spotless and pure once again. We can be redeemed by the eternal sacrifice of our beloved Savior." (Read at https://www.lds.org/liahona/2015/03/encircled-in-his-gentle-arms ).

As Easter approaches, may we all be grateful for the atonement of the Savior.  Pour our hearts out in prayers of gratitude, and serve others as he would have us do.  And we will be filled, and return to him again.

The Living Christ

"Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God...He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come." (More about Christ athttp://bit.ly/1bAqOhI - From The Living Christ, The Testimony of the Apostles ).
Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World is real. As the prophet has said, he is involved in the details of our lives and is there for us if we reach out to him. We can know for ourselves that he is real, and that he loves us if we will ask our Father in Heaven in Christ's name. The Love of the Savior is only a prayer away, as we pour out our hearts in prayer.
Christ's church has been restored to the earth, with all of the blessings from previous Biblical times. The Gospel, once lost in the darkness of the apostasy, has been restored in a flood of light by the Power of God for our times.

As if the Savior were there, instructing us

Because of the Holy Ghost, When we and our children read in the scriptures it is as if the Savior himself were sitting there with us, instructing us. May we read, ponder, and pray about the scriptures.

The Savior has said, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." (John 14:26 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/14.26?lang=eng#25 ) Picture Bible Stories by Greg Olsen

Remember that through the spirit, God teaches us what we need to learn as we study and ponder the scriptures, both the Bible and the Standard Works. They will lead us unfailingly in a course to our heavenly home.

May we ever follow the truths contained therein, as their truths are confirmed to us through the power of the Holy Ghost.

The Healing, Comforting Power of Prayer

Prayer is such a powerful way to connect with our Father in Heaven, and feel his love and the Love of the Savior through the spirit.

We are counselled to pray always (Colossians, Ephesians, 3 Nephi, D & C), and to have our hearts drawn out constantly in prayer (Alma 34:27 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/34.27 ).

May we do that, pour our hearts out in prayer to our Father in Heaven, and Savior, Jesus Christ, feel of the spirit, and be comforted, strengthened, and lifted in our daily labors and cares of life.  Remember the words of the hymn:

Ere you left your room this morning
Did you think to pray
In the name of Christ our Saviour
Did you sue for loving favour
As a shield today?

Oh how praying rests the weary
Prayer will change the night to day
So when life seems dark and dreary
Don't forget to pray.

Touch me not, for I am filled with the power of God

Be as a rock with your testimony of the Gospel, as was Nephi. When Nephi's brothers tried to kill Nephi for trying to build a ship, he said to them "In the name of the Almighty God, I command you that ye touch me not, for I am filled with the power of God, even unto the consuming of my flesh; and whoso shall lay his hands upon me shall wither even as a dried reed; and he shall be as naught before the power of God, for God shall smite him...

And it came to pass that the Lord said unto me: Stretch forth thine hand again unto thy brethren, and they shall not wither before thee, but I will shock them, saith the Lord, and this will I do, that they may know that I am the Lord their God.

And it came to pass that I stretched forth my hand unto my brethren, and they did not wither before me; but the Lord did shake them, even according to the word which he had spoken.

And now, they said: We know of a surety that the Lord is with thee, for we know that it is the power of the Lord that has shaken us. And they fell down before me, and were about to worship me, but I would not suffer them, saying: I am thy brother, yea, even thy younger brother; wherefore, worship the Lord thy God, and honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long in the land which the Lord thy God shall give thee." (1 Nephi 17:48,53-55 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/17.48,53-55 )

We may not experience the things Nephi did, but as we are strong in our testimony of the Gospel, we can have the help of the Lord in all things.  As we devote ourselves to the Savior, he will uphold us, in good times and in trials.  And miracles do follow those who believe in and follow Christ.

The beginning of the Restoration of Christ's Church

The beginning of the Restoration of Christ's Church on the earth came in the early 1800's.  After retiring to the woods to pray and ask God which church was right, the following happened- In Joseph's words "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me.  It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!"

Joseph Smith saw God the Father and his son, Jesus Christ, and was the instrument through which God restored the same New Testament church to the earth again in its purity.  You can read more about that by clicking the link below to read this history, or read the Book of Mormon online now.

The Testimony of Christ given by Abinadi

May we all have the Faith of Abinadi, whose one and only Convert, Alma, brought many others and his posterity and many more converts to the Gospel of Christ. Read part of his testimony below:

When Abinadi testified of the truth, "they stood forth and attempted to lay their hands on him; but he withstood them, and said unto them:

Touch me not, for God shall smite you if ye lay your hands upon me, for I have not delivered the message which the Lord sent me to deliver; neither have I told you that which ye requested that I should tell; therefore, God will not suffer that I shall be destroyed at this time." (Mosiah 13:2-3)

Abinadi later testified of Christ many many times, including the following:

"He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that there can be no more death."

Later Abinadi gave his life for this gospel of Jesus Christ.

Abinadi Prophecied many things too numerous to put here, but follow the link and take a minute in Mosiah 12-16 and Read his powerful words by clicking the link http://bit.ly/1fnh4qr

The Mission of the Three Nephites-and us in our day

When the Savior asked the twelve apostles in the Americas what their greatest desire was, there were three of them who did not dare speak of what they desired, and the Savior, knowing their thoughts said unto them. "Behold, I know your thoughts, and ye have desired the thing which John, my beloved, who was with me in my ministry, before that I was lifted up by the Jews, desired of me.

Therefore, more blessed are ye, for ye shall never taste of death; but ye shall live to behold all the doings of the Father unto the children of men, even until all things shall be fulfilled according to the will of the Father, when I shall come in my glory with the powers of heaven.

And ye shall never endure the pains of death; but when I shall come in my glory ye shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye from mortality to immortality; and then shall ye be blessed in the kingdom of my Father..."

"And behold, the heavens were opened, and they were caught up into heaven, and saw and heard unspeakable things..."

"But it came to pass that they did again minister upon the face of the earth" (3 Nephi 28 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/28 )

I urge you to read in 3 Nephi 28. These three are still on the earth, ministering to those here and assisting in the Gathering of Israel as translated beings who are solely focused on the work of the Lord, the immortality and eternal life of man.

One day, if we live worthy in this life, we may inherit all that these three will inherit, that is all our Father in Heaven has.  May we be valiant as these.

The Hands of Heaven on Earth

Today is International Women's Day. The largest Women's Organization in the World, the Relief Society, teaches that the women in our lives are the hands of heaven on earth, and there is no phrase more descriptive I can think of than that to describe the women and mothers in our lives.

May we realize the divine nature they have, and show the love to these daughters of God that the Savior would sh
ow to them if he were here. For they are righteously raising his children, both as parents and leaders. They raise either their own or help raise others children.

From President Hinckley "wherever you may live, may the windows of heaven be opened and blessings come down upon you. May you live with love one for another. May you reach down to lift up those whose burdens are heavy. May you bring light and beauty to the world and particularly into your homes and into the lives of your children.
You know as I do that God our Eternal Father lives. He loves you. You know as I do that Jesus is the Christ, His immortal Son, our Redeemer. You know that the gospel is true and that heaven is near if we will cultivate it in our lives.”

And to those who have no children. You make such wonderful contributions, and the Lord has promised you a fulness of joy, that your righteous desires will be fulfilled, and that no blessing will be witheld from you in the eternities.

The Restoration of the Melchizedek Priesthood and the authority of God on this Earth

"The power and authority of the higher, or Melchizedek Priesthood, is to hold the keys of all the spiritual blessings of the church—" (Doctrine and Covenants)

We are told in Hebrews, in the New Testament that Christ was a High Priest after the Order of Melchizedek, and the Presiding High Priest. He gave that same priesthood to his apostles, with the authority to preside. After the church fell away, that Authority was lost. In our modern era, Peter, James, and John, now resurrected, glorified beings, appeared to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery, and restored the Melchizedek Priesthood to the earth, and the authority to minister as the Savior did. The long night of apostasy was over.

What a blessing it is to have the power and authority of the Savior on this earth, so that we, and all the peoples of the earth, and all who have or ever will live upon it, may be blessed. It stretches from before the beginning of time into the eternities and beyond, and has the power to touch and change the hearts of the children of men, one by one and heart by heart, and endure with them forever.

May we be grateful for the many blessings, too numerous to count, that have come to this earth since that time.

Christ's Ascension and he Power and Glory of the Latter Days

"And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1:10-11 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/acts/1.10-11?lang=eng#9 )

The Savior still lives today, and works for our salvation. As our prophet says, he is in the details of our lives, and he will come again, in power and great glory, to rule and reign upon the earth, as he and we his servants complete the work done in Temples and through Missionary work in these Latter-Days.

This church will never again be taken from the earth, and with Christ at its head, will be the means of bringing billions to a knowledge of Christ, of helping people to remember that they are children of a loving Father in Heaven.

As these angels said. Christ will come again, in like manner, and will finish his work upon the earth. And we will be able to help in that work, no matter what side of the veil we will be on, because he is the Savior of both the living and the dead.

The First Vision of the Father and the Son

"I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" (Read more at Joseph Smith-History 1:16-17 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/pgp/js-h/1.16-17?lang=eng#15 )

Joseph Smith Saw God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. He bore that testimony his entire life and died for that testimony. In Joseph's words "I had actually seen a light, and in the midst of that light I saw two Personages, and they did in reality speak to me; and though I was hated and persecuted for saying that I had seen a vision, yet it was true...I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it."

Through subsequent visions and heavenly visitations, Christ's true gospel was restored to the earth, to bless us in this life, and to be exalted in the next, to dwell with our Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ forever.

I hope you take a moment in your prayers to thank our Father in Heaven for the blessings of the Restoration, to let him know you love him, and wait for the response as you do. You will be able to feel of the love of God for you. This restoration is so individual and personal as to be able to lift you in all your cares of life.

Christ appears in the Kirtland Temple and this Great Latter-Day Work

"The veil was taken from our minds, and the eyes of our understanding were opened. We saw the Lord standing upon the breastwork of the pulpit, before us; and under his feet was a paved work of pure gold, in color like amber. His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying: I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father" (Doctrine and Covenants 110:1-4 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/110.1-4?lang=eng#primary ).

The Savior accepted the house of the Lord, and after Christ appeared, all of the prophets from previous dispensations appeared to Joseph and Oliver Cowdery, laid their hands on their heads, and with the authority they had, in the name of Christ, conferred the keys to all previous gospel dispensations-the authority that had been lost from New Testament times.

The Gathering of Israel had begun, and continues on today as we attend the temple and do genealogy work. We capture the Spirit of Elijah and help our ancestors to be able to return back to the presence of the Lord.

This is the work of the Savior.  As members of the house of Israel, may we help to gather the elect from the 4 corners of the earth, and help them come to the gospel so they may become bound by temple covenants to their relatives and to Christ.

Christ appears to the People of the Americas

"And behold, the third time they did understand the voice which they heard; and it said unto them: Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him.

And it came to pass, as they understood they cast their eyes up again towards heaven; and behold, they saw a Man descending out of heaven; and he was clothed in a white robe; and he came down and stoodin the midst of them

And it came to pass that he stretched forth his hand and spake unto the people, saying:

Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.

And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning (3 Nephi 11:6-8 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/11.6-8?lang=eng#5 )

These passages bring such peace, as we read the Savior's words as he taught his New Testament Gospel to the Saints in the Americas, healed their sick, and blessed them and their children. May we all be grateful for the gift of the Book of Mormon in our own lives and study the words of Christ in its pages, along with the Bible.

As Lehi, may we study and search the Scriptures

May we be as Lehi, and search the scriptures, and find the blessings of the Lord therein.

"And after they had given thanks unto the God of Israel, my father, Lehi, took the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass, and he did search them from the beginning.

And he beheld that they did contain the five books of Moses, which gave an account of the creation of the world, and also of Adam and Eve, who were our first parents;

And also a record of the Jews from the beginning, even down to the commencement of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah;

And also the prophecies of the holy prophets, from the beginning, even down to the commencement of the reign of Zedekiah; and also many prophecies which have been spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah.

And it came to pass that my father, Lehi, also found upon the plates of brass a genealogy of his fathers; wherefore he knew that he was a descendant of Joseph; yea, even that Joseph who was the son of Jacob, who was sold into Egypt, and who was preserved by the hand of the Lord, that he might preserve his father, Jacob, and all his household from perishing with famine.

And they were also led out of captivity and out of the land of Egypt, by that same God who had preserved them.

And thus my father, Lehi, did discover the genealogy of his fathers. " (1 Nephi 5:10-16 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/5.10-16 )

I am Jesus Christ

"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I am the life and the light of the world. I am the same who came unto mine own and mine own received me not; But verily, verily, I say unto you, that as many as receive me, to them will I give power to become the sons [and daughters] of God, even to them that believe on my name." (D & C 11:28-30 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/11.28-30 )

As we have more Faith in Christ our hearts will be changed, our desires will become more like his, and at the last day we will embrace our Savior having become like him, and what joy will fill our hearts at that time. To really feel his loving arms around us, to feel joy that we have lived our lives so that we become like him, and to gain our exaltation as we continue serving the Lord and helping others to feel of that love we have felt.

We can feel a bit of that love every day of our lives as we serve others and do the work of the Lord. And we will be able to share that love with others who don't have that in their lives. Glory be to God for this marvellous plan of salvation that we have.

Pour your hearts out to the Father in gratitude and faith, do his work, and feel of the Love of the Savior in return. For because of him, we have light in our own lives.
