Lessons in the Boyhood of Jesus

"There was very little written of the boyhood of Jesus. I love the passage from Luke: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” (Luke 2:52) And from the book of Acts, there is a short phrase concerning the Savior which has a world of meaning: “[He] went about doing good.” (Acts 10:38) -(President Thomas S Monson, He is Risen, Conference Address April 2010 General Conference)

We know the Savior knew the scriptures, because he quoted them often.  No doubt he spent time in them, studying them, and hearkening when the spirit whispered to him that he was the promised Messiah spoken of.

May we all do the same, study the scriptures, and pray earnestly to know their meaning, as well as ask to know who we really are.

The Savior's Voice and God's servants on Earth

"Hearken and listen to the voice of him who is from all eternity to all eternity, the Great I Am, even Jesus Christ—The light and the life of the world; a light which shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not."

May we all hearken to the voice and example of the Savior.  As he followed the Father in all things, even to Gethsemane and Golgotha, may we similarly follow the Savior in all things we may be called to go through.  Then, we may have the spirit to be with us for time, and to live in the presence of God and the Lamb for all eternity.

We have been blessed with apostles and prophets on the earth today.  As the scripture says "whether by mine own voice or the voice of my servants, it is the same."  May we listen to the words of God's servants on this earth, and pray about them, and then feel the spirit confirm to our hearts that what they say is true.

Jesus Christ is real, and he stands at the head of the Church.  Over the weekend I had the chance to meet with and listen to an apostle testify of the divinity of the Savior, and to testify of the divine nature of this work we know as the Gospel of Christ.  The church is true, and it is led by Christ.

May we ever follow him, and hearken to his words, whether from him in the scriptures, or from his authorized prophets.

How the Savior knows you, and can comfort you

Please take a moment to read these beautiful words in the scriptures about the Savior, for the Savior knows us, and understands us, as no one ever can, and has atoned for our sins because he loves us. "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. ¶Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:2-5 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/ot/isa/53.2-5 )

The Savior knows us, knows our trials, knows our challenges we face, and can forgive our sins, too. Loneliness, sadness, pain, trials, temptation, all of the evils of the world, discouragement, desperation, stress, he knows it all.  There is nothing we could ever experience that he hasn't already experienced, and his greatest desire is that we reach out to him so he can comfort and strengthen us through the spirit. May we ever rely on him, and turn to him in all things.

An Apostle's Testimony "Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World"

From an apostle of the Lord, one who has seen the Resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ. "I witness that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. He suffered and died for our sins and rose the third day. He is resurrected. In a future day, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is the Christ..." —Neil L. Andersen, "What Thinks Christ of Me?", Liahona and Ensign, May 2012. (https://www.lds.org/ensign/2012/05/what-thinks-christ-of-me ).

Jesus Christ lives! He loves all of his children with a perfect love.  When you meet the Savior at the last day, will you be like him? How have you shown that Christlike love to others?  Have you turned to him in all things? Have you felt of his love? Have you poured out your heart to God so that through the power of the atonement, your trials and sins may be lifted from you? as the Book of Mormon says, have ye felt to sing the song of redeeming love?  May we all follow Christ so that we may feel of his love in this life, and at the last day, our reunion will be one of everlasting joy.

Remember, as you pour your hearts out to Christ, that he is real, and as you pray, you can feel his love in your heart, as if he were close to you, comforting you.  May we all feel of that love.

Do you love the Savior, and want to know him? Along with the Bible, his words are in the Book of Mormon. Find out for yourself and read the Promise of the Book of Mormon online now at http://bit.ly/10t8QYm and pray about its truth. You may also get a free copy at http://bit.ly/11WKJ1G

The Savior is our Hope for Peace and Comfort

"Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend. And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them" (Mosiah 4:9-10 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/4.9-10 )

God is over all. He is always there. In him is the perfection of Faith and the Hope of our Salvation. Repent, and come unto him, and you will feel the sweet peace of his love for you. Turn to him when you need comfort, and he will be there for you.

When you pray, let the Father know that you love him, and that you love Christ, and take a moment to feel of their love for you. For it is real and brings life and meaning to life. It wipes all other cares away for a bit. For we are his little children.

Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World

"Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God...He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come." (Read more at http://bit.ly/1bAqOhI From The Living Christ, The Testimony of the Apostles ).

Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World is real. He is involved in the details of our lives and is there for us if we reach out to him. We can know for ourselves that he is real, and that he loves us if we will ask our Father in Heaven in Christ's name. The Love of the Savior is only a prayer away, as we pour out our hearts to our Father in Heaven in prayer.

Christ's church has been restored to the earth, with all of the blessings from previous Biblical times. The Gospel, once lost, has been restored by the Power of God for our times. To find out more about this restoration, read online at http://bit.ly/1cbX4GK

"Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away"

Much can be learned from the first story of Mary and Martha, both devoted followers of the Savior.  First the story: "Now it came to pass, as they went, that he [Christ] entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."  (Luke 10:38-42 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/luke/10.41 )

Are we choosing the good part?  Often it is hard when the cares of the world press down upon us.  When that happens, do we take a moment, and reconnect with our Father in Heaven, and let the Atonement of Jesus Christ work in our lives?

As we do that, our cares diminish, they get put in proper perspective, and we remember the most important things in life, serving others, our family, and especially the things of God.

We are God's children-trust him, love him

As I held my 5 year old daughter close, I realized she, like all children, lets her light shine and has a purity that is beyond compare. Is it no wonder the Savior loved children so much?

When asked who was greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven the Savior did and said the following: "Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."

May we all become as little children, trusting our Father in Heaven, and be full of love. For we are our Father in Heaven's Children.  He will always be there for us, and as we, as children, trust him, turn to him, and love him and others, he will ever be there for us.

The Mount of Transfiguration - Elias, Moses, the Apostles, and the Atonement

"And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.

And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.

And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead." (Mark 9:2-9 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/mark/9 )

In other accounts of this event, it is reported that Moses and Elias spoke to the Savior about the atonement that he would "accomplish" at Jerusalem at the end of his life.  He did just that and gained the victory over sin and death.  This atonement was planned before the creation of the world, and it was known he would be our Savior and redeemer.

He is ever there for us.

"Lord, not my feet only..."

The ordinance of the washing of the feet, still done today by the apostles. In the Savior's day, feet were often dirty, soiled from dirt roads.  The story follows:

"He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head." (John 13:3-9 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/13.3-9 )

do we invite the Savior in, for he has served us already. He has washed us clean if we will but come to him. He is our Savior and Redeemer, and if he were here, he would serve others humbly, as he did on earth.

Turning off the distractions, and inviting the Savior in

Do we invite the Savior into our homes, into our thoughts, and into our lives? Do we turn off the distractions and invite the spirit in? Do we turn off tv, music, internet sites, and other media with questionable content, and spend time serving others, studying about the Savior, and inviting the spirit of the Lord into our homes? Do we find rest in the Savior?

The Savior yearns for us to do so, and pleads for us to. As Elder Talmage said, "His invitation is one of the grandest outpourings of spiritual emotion known to man: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Jesus the Christ, Quoting Matthew 11:28-30 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/11.28-30 ).

May we all invite the Savior into our lives through our thoughts, prayers, and most of all, actions.

Elder Ballard sees the Savior, and feels of the prints of the nails...

Elder Melvin J. Ballard, an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, relates the following vision he had of the Savior: “I had sought the Lord . . . and that night I received a wonderful manifestation and impression which has never left me. I was carried to this place—into this room. I saw myself here with you. I was told there was another privilege that was to be mine; and I was led into a room where I was informed I was to meet someone. As I entered the room I saw, seated on a raised platform, the most glorious being I have ever conceived of, and was taken forward to be introduced to Him.

As I approached He smiled, called my name, and stretched out His hands towards me. If I live to be a million years old I shall never forget that smile. He put His arms around me and kissed me, as He took me into His bosom, and He blessed me until my whole being was thrilled. As He finished I fell at His feet, and there saw the marks of the nails; and as I kissed them, with deep joy swelling through my whole being, I felt that I was in heaven indeed. The feeling that came to my heart then was: Oh! If I could live worthy, though it would require four-score years, so that in the end when I have finished I could go into His presence and receive the feeling that I then had in His presence, I would give everything that I am or ever hope to be!” (Melvin J. Ballard—Crusader for Righteousness, Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1966, p. 65-66.)

The Savior Lives! He is Real, and from the Prophet Joseph Smith on down, people have been able to see him, or to feel of his presence through the veil.  He is there.  It is worth every sacrifice to be able to feel what it is like to be in his presence.  May we all be worthy of that.

To Be in the Presence of the Anointed One

"Anointed One" comes from Hebrew and means "Messiah." "Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth." (2 Nephi 2:6 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/2.6 ).

"And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning;" (Mosiah 3:8 http://bit.ly/1gIo164 )

I know the Savior, Jesus Christ lives. He is real, and works today for our salvation.  Prophets and Apostles have seen the Risen Lord in this dispensation, and he can be close to each one us, the children he loves, through the spirit.  And there are times when, even though we cannot see him, we can feel of his presence through the veil.  The Annointed One who is there to comfort us.

That love fills the soul with a feeling of love that calms all fears, comforts all pains, and leaves behind a knowledge that the Savior is real, that he is there to comfort us.  And each time you feel the spirit, it is a reminder of the reality of Jesus Christ.  May we all seek after that and be filled with that love that is beyond compare.

"And the heavens are the works of thine hands"

Please take a moment to read. May we all be grateful that the Savior is over all, and that even with all that goes wrong in the world, that the world is in our Savior's loving hands because of the atonement. He is more loving, glorious, righteous, and powerful than any man or organization that ever existed in the earth, and is yet so personal that he can gently touch the deepest chambers of the most pained heart.

Everything in the world that is good is good because of the power of the atonement, and everything around us in the world exists because of God. "And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands" (Hebrews 1:10 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/heb/1.10 ).

"and I will give you rest"

May we all come unto Christ, for he pleads to us to "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30) Elder Talmadge calls this "the greatest spiritual outpouring."

The Savior is pleading with us to come unto him, to learn of him, and have our burden become light. With all of the love in his heart, he beckons us to partake of the light and love he has to offer us, and to help change us forever.

May we do that, come unto him, and in him find rest.

Christ's Church has been Restored to the Earth

"With great love and admiration for the many disciples of Jesus Christ who are not members of this Church, we humbly declare that angels have returned to the earth in our day. The Church of Jesus Christ as He established it anciently has been restored, with the power, ordinances, and blessings of heaven. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ." —Neil L. Andersen, ""What Thinks Christ of Me?"" http://www.lds.org/general-conference/2012/04/what-thinks-christ-of-me

The Gospel of Jesus Christ, once lost in the darkness of apostasy, has been restored to the Earth in what has been termed by Elder Neal A Maxwell as a wonderful flood of light.  All of the blessings available in Christ's original church are again on the Earth for the blessing of all.

At the center of that is Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World, who is able to touch the innermost parts of each individual soul through the spirit.  He will ever sustain us, and as the Prophet has stated, is in the details of our lives.

Follow him, love him, and be grateful for the blessings he has given you.  He will ever sustain you in all things as you turn to him.

Why Weepest Thou? I ascend unto...my God and your God

So wonderful were the words spoken by the Savior that Easter Morning...

"And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her." (John 20:14-18)

Ever since that time, the Heavens, the Earth, and all of the Saints have proclaimed that the Savior lives, that he rose from the dead, and that all will again be risen.  And that we have the chance to return to live with God again.  May we ever make that our goal.

"I am the bread of life"

The Savior truly is the living bread and water of life. "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst" (John 6:35 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/6.35 )

The words of Christ are more important than the very food we eat. We are wholly dependent upon the Savior for all we are and have. He is there for us every moment of every day. His power is what sustains us. May we be grateful for the spiritual and physical "bread of life" that he provides us to sustain us.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is "For all Mankind"

The scriptures are full of references that the Savior is the Savior of the whole earth. What a wonderful reminder of that.

His declaration that he is over all and his charge to take the Gospel to others still echoes to us now. "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." May all of us share the gospel more freely with all, respectfully and lovingly, so that others can feel of the Love of God that sometimes we take for granted, but is real and gives us life.

"How much more shall your Father which is in Heaven..."

May we follow the example of the Savior in looking to our Father in Heaven in faith in all things, in the name of Christ, and be able to feel of his love for us. As the Savior taught:

"...how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" (Matthew 7:11 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/7.11 )

How well do we look to God in our trials, sufferings, triumphs, hopes, dreams, loves, losses, and in all things?  Do we trust our Father in Heaven that he can comfort us, joy with us, strengthen us, encourage us, and be there for us?

He lives, and by the power of the Atonement, all of these things can happen if we simply live worthily, and obey God's Commandments.  And as a result all that the Father has will be ours, and he will answer our prayers.

The Love of the Savior

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (http://bit.ly/12NHwk2) Of this truth the Savior said to Peter "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (http://bit.ly/16y1Yey)

How wonderful it is to have a Savior who comprehends and understands all of our pains, and, as he says, "my peace I leave with you," and can help us return to him and our Father in Heaven again with our families.

The Savior loves us with a love we cannot comprehend. He descended below all things so that we may return back to him and our Father in Heaven again with our families.

May we all take the time to pour our hearts out in gratitude to our Father in Heaven for the gift of his only begotten son, and take a moment afterwards to wait for the Lord's response through the spirit. Then, may we love others as the Savior would have us do.

Christ in the Americas: One Fold and One Shepherd

After he was resurrected, Jesus Christ came to the peoples of the Americas, fulfilling the scripture which says "other sheep I have which are not of this fold.  Them also I must bring, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd."

The scriptures say "And behold, the third time they did understand the voice which they heard; and it said unto them: Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him. And it came to pass, as they understood they cast their eyes up again towards heaven; and behold, they saw a Man descending out of heaven; and he was clothed in a white robe; and he came down and stood in the midst of them. And it came to pass that he stretched forth his hand and spake unto the people, saying: Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. (3 Nephi 11:6-10 http://bit.ly/15HrSzh )

He is Risen! An Easter message about Christ

How wonderful are the words "He is not here: for he is risen" The Prophet Joseph Smith said, “And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! “For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father—That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God” (D&C 76:22–24 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/76.22-24).

Oh those words that He is Risen! Those words are the declaration of our Savior's triumph over sin and death. And how wonderful is it that he has appeared to men again in this dispensation, to Joseph Smith and others, and to countless apostles and prophets in our day, who lead and guide his church.

Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, the Savior and Redeemer of all of us, and has broken the bonds of sin and death. He has made it possible to return back to the presence of our Father in Heaven, to live with him and our families forever. When there, we will help the Father and Savior with their work, bringing to pass the immortality and eternal life of all.

The meaning of the word Hallelujah, loosely, is "Praise to Jehovah." and I can think of no better phrase than that. As the Prophet has said, may we live with gratitude ever in our hearts for the Savior of the World, he who has ransomed us.

It is Finished

After his condemnation, the Savior of the World was forced to carry his own cross, until he could carry it no more, and another was forced to carry it for him. When at Golgotha, he was cruelly nailed to a cross, and placed between 2 malefactors.

As he suffered on the cross, the Jewish Leaders came and taunted him, as did others saying If he be the Christ, come down off the cross.  And as he himself was being reviled, and in pain, paying the price for our sins, he prayed "Father, Forgive them, for they know not what they do."  What an example for us of forgiveness.

As the Father withdrew his presence so Christ could bear this alone, the cry was heard from him "Eloi, Eloi lama sabachthani," or translated, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"  Our Savior knows what it is like to feel alone, to be apart from God, and knows our sorrows and pains.  He did nothing to deserve it, yet willingly suffered it.

Then, having finished suffering for us, and weary, he bowed his head and prayed unto the Father "It is Finished" and "Into thy hands I commend my spirit."

Our Savior had secured our Salvation by paying a price that we couldn't pay ourselves. With this knowledge, he slipped from mortality, and prepared for what would come next...

"A Declaration to all the world that Jesus is the Christ"

"a general conference of the Church is a declaration to all the world that Jesus is the Christ, that He and His Father, the God and Father of us all, appeared to the boy prophet Joseph Smith in fulfillment of that ancient promise that the resurrected Jesus of Nazareth would again restore His Church on earth and again “come in like manner as [those Judean Saints had] seen him [ascend] into heaven.”

"This conference and every other conference like it is a declaration that He condescended to come to earth in poverty and humility, to face sorrow and rejection, disappointment and death in order that we might be saved from those very fates as our eternity unfolds, that “with his stripes we are healed.” This conference proclaims to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people the loving Messianic promise that “his mercy endureth for ever.” (Elder Jeffrey R Holland, Prophets in the Land again, October 2006 General Conference).

This Easter Weekend, May we all be nourished spiritually as we take the time to watch Apostles and Prophets of the Lord Jesus Christ testify of his divinity and of his gospel.

May we all tune in to listen to the Lord's authorized servants testify of Christ and his Gospel. "Surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows"

After the Garden of Gethsemane, the Savior went before the Jewish Leaders, who condemned him, mocked and spat upon him. Then he went before Pilate and Herod, and after being whipped with a flog that had pieces of bone woven in it, he went back to Pilate. When he found no fault with him, the Jews cried for him to instead release Barabbas. Pilate gave in to the cries of the Jews as they said "Crucify him, Crucify him." In this picture, the Savior of the World is awaiting the command of his death. But the Savior knew this would happen, and did so willingly. As he had said in his ministry, "no man taketh my life, I lay it down of myself."

Isaiah says "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:3-5 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/ot/isa/53.3-5 )

It's hard to imagine this happening to our Savior, who is so loving. But because of what he went through in Gethsemane through the cross, he understands every pain, every trial, every trouble we could ever have, and his purpose in life is to lift our burdens when we have them. He will ever comfort us, strengthen us, and help us, and at the last day, because of his sacrifice, he will help us return to our Heavenly Home again.

Gethsemane - No Greater Love

I am humbled at the price that was paid for our sins by our Savior, Jesus Christ.  About the Garden we read: "And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping..." (Luke 22:41-44 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/luke/22.41-44 ).

If the Savior only had to atone for you, he would have done it willingly, all so that you could feel of his love and the Love of the Father.

The Savior was there for all of us then, and he is always there for us, even at times where we feel like he is far away. Pour out your hearts to him, study him, and become like him as you do his work. Lose yourself in his service and you will find a love and peace that is better than anything in this world.

What the Brethren do to prepare for Conference, and what are you doing?

This morning, the Brethren meet in the temple to prepare for Conference.  They bear testimony of the Savior and his Gospel, and go to a session in the temple with their wives.  What are you doing to prepare for Conference?

Are we preparing our hearts and minds to hear the will of the Lord, as delivered by his authorized servants on this earth?  Are we praying to the Lord that we will be touched with what he wants us to pay attention to?

At the Conference, Apostles and Prophets will testify of Christ's gospel. There will be messages uniquely for each of us. As we listen, may we listen to the spirit as it impresses upon us what message we need to hear. The speakers have sought heaven's help as they prepare, and what we hear will help us to become more like the Savior and turn our hearts more to him.
