What it is like to embrace the Savior "I would give everything that I am"

May we all follow the Savior, and seek out our Father in Heaven by pouring out our hearts to him in prayer, and be "eternally encircled in the arms of [our Savior's] love." As the Nephi says,  "I have beheld his glory, and I am encircled about eternally in the arms of his love" (2 Nephi 1:15 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/1.15 )

The more we seek after the Lord, the more we do his work, the more we can be encircled in the arms of his love here through the spirit.  Then, at the last day, we can be encircled in the arms of his love again as he embraces us.  President Eyring says it so well:

"We will on the Day of Judgment stand before the Savior, face to face. It will be a time of joy for those who have drawn close to Him in His service in this life. It will be a joy to hear the words: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” I so testify as a witness of the risen Savior and our Redeemer in the name of Jesus Christ, amen." Entire talk at https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2013/04/come-unto-me

Additionally, Elder Melvin J Ballard had an experience where he embraced the Savior, and these are his words about that: "He put His arms around me and kissed me, as He took me into His bosom, and He blessed me until my whole being was thrilled...Oh! If I could live worthy, though it would require four-score years, so that in the end when I have finished I could go into His presence and receive the feeling that I then had in His presence, I would give everything that I am or ever hope to be!” - see more at http://ldsprinciples.blogspot.com/2015/04/elder-ballard-sees-savior-and-feels-of.html

May we give everything in our whole souls for the Savior, and his work, and be able to feel of his warm embrace at the last day.

"Touch me not, for God shall smite you..."

May we all have the Faith of Abinadi, whose one and only Convert, Alma, brought many others and his posterity and many more converts to the Gospel of Christ.  Read part of his testimony below:

When Abinadi testified of the truth, "they stood forth and attempted to lay their hands on him; but he withstood them, and said unto them:

Touch me not, for God shall smite you if ye lay your hands upon me, for I have not delivered the message which the Lord sent me to deliver; neither have I told you that which ye requested that I should tell; therefore, God will not suffer that I shall be destroyed at this time." (Mosiah 13:2-3)

Abinadi later testified of Christ many many times, including the following:

"He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that there can be no more death."

Later Abinadi gave his life for this gospel of Jesus Christ.

Abinadi Prophecied many things too numerous to put here, but follow the link and take a minute in Mosiah 12-16 and Read his powerful words by clicking the link http://bit.ly/1fnh4qr

"the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Today's profound message comes from Simon Dewey, the artist of this painging, Grace and Truth:
"I love the Gospel of John. The opening verses of chapter one are at once poetic and sublime, simple yet profound:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God....In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” To each of us on this journey home, John’s powerful witness of the Savior remains a guide as we come to realize the reality of it for ourselves. “We beheld his glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”(John 1:14) -Simon Dewey

May we all live worthy so that when we see the Savior, we will be able to behold his glory, and live in his presence again.  He is the Life and the Light of men.  And he is real, and involved in the details of our lives, and if we trust in him, he will lead us back to our heavenly home.

"Behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me..."

Please share-The Book of Mormon, with the Bible, is the inspired Word of God. From the title page, it is "to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations"

Prophets were told by God what to include in the book for us in our day. Moroni says "Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not. But behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me, and I know your doing."

In the promise of the Book of Mormon, we are encouraged to pray about it and then ask God if it is true.  The Prophet Moroni said

"And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." Moroni 10:4-5 (http://bit.ly/10t8QYm)

Nurtured by the Spirit

May we give thanks, and be nurtured by the spirit ourselves by feasting on the Word of God and feeling of the spirit that attends that.  "He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks" (Romans 14:6 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/rom/14.6 )

Each of us is as a seed, sown in good soil, and as we reach out, the Lord nourishes us, so that we grow and bring forth fruit.  May we ever do that.

"The Son of Man hath descended below them all"

"The Son of Man hath descended below them all."

The Greatest of all will never let us suffer more than we are able, but will lift us and comfort us.  If we pour our hearts out to our Father in Heaven, in the name of Christ, through the power of the Atonement, and through the spirit, he can and will lift us.

He is the compassionate Savior, he who descended below all things so that he might "draw all men unto him," so that we may be comforted in this life, and gain eternal life in the world to come.

He lives today, and is there.  Reach out to the Father in the name of Christ, pour your heart to him, and feel of the love of God through the spirit lift you, encourage you, and strengthen you.  He exists just to help you in all aspects of your life, and to help you have joy beyond compare.

"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden..."

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

The Savior beckons all to come unto him and be comforted, strengthened, lifted, and ultimately, be exalted with our families. All of these things happen because of him, because of his atonement. Yet he doesn't want us to suffer as he did, and so beckons all to come unto him.

May we all come unto him, follow him, obey him, and find our peace and joy through him, and we will eventually return to him again, rejoicing with him, the Father, and our Families. For heaven wouldn't be heaven without God's children.

I am the Resurrection and the Life/Thou art the Christ

What a wonderful declaration of the Savior and how great the faith of Martha. See below:

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world."

The Savior is aware of each one of us intimitely, and as the prophet has said, is involved in the details of our lives. Even if sometimes you can't feel him close, he is there. He loves you with a love that is worth more than anything else.

Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. He is our advocate with the Father. He was the only begotten of the Father in the Flesh, and because of him, we may return to him and our Father in Heaven again with our families.

Redemption in and through the Holy Messiah

"Anointed One" comes from Hebrew and means "Messiah."  "Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth." (2 Nephi 2:6 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/2.6 ).

"And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning;" (Mosiah 3:8 http://bit.ly/1gIo164 )

I know the Savior, Jesus Christ lives.  He is real, and works today for our salvation.  That sacred, holy Son, Ordained from before the foundations of the World as the Savior of all mankind still lives today, and his atonement will stretch into the eternities.  It is by his power that we are reconciled to the Father.  In the coming days, he will come again, with angels from the eternal realms singing his endless praises.

Give your lives to the Service of the Master.  He will ever be there for you, and will strengthen you as you do.  And you will be able to feel of his love through the spirit, and occasionally, by his presence through the veil.  For he loves you with a love that never ends.

"The Church of Jesus Christ as He established it anciently has been restored"

"With great love and admiration for the many disciples of Jesus Christ who are not members of this Church, we humbly declare that angels have returned to the earth in our day. The Church of Jesus Christ as He established it anciently has been restored, with the power, ordinances, and blessings of heaven. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ." -—Neil L. Andersen

The Gospel of Jesus Christ, once lost in the darkness of apostasy, has been restored to the Earth in what has been termed as a wonderful flood of light.  All of the blessings available in Christ's original church are again on the Earth for the blessing of all.

At the center of that is Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World, global in his reach, and yet able to touch the innermost parts of each soul.  He will ever sustain us, and as the Prophet has stated, is in the details of our lives.

Follow him, love him, and be grateful for the blessings he has given you.  He will ever sustain you in all things as you turn to him.

For All Mankind-"Go Ye Therefore and Teach all Nations"

The scriptures are full of references that the Savior is the Savior of the whole earth.  What a wonderful reminder of that.  His declaration that he is over all and his charge to take the Gospel to others still echoes to us now.

"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."

May all of us share the gospel more freely with all, respectfully and lovingly.  The increase in missions helps the Lord fulfill this charge as many more go out to serve, in whatever place they may be in.

"A prophet has stood at the head of God’s Church in all dispensations"

Read these powerful words from President Nelson, newly set apart as the President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles:

"My dear brothers and sisters, if the Restoration did anything, it shattered the age-old myth that God had stopped talking to His children. Nothing could be further from the truth. A prophet has stood at the head of God’s Church in all dispensations, from Adam to the present day. Prophets testify of Jesus Christ—of His divinity and of His earthly mission and ministry. We honor the Prophet Joseph Smith as the prophet of this last dispensation. And we honor each man who has succeeded him as President of the Church.

The living Lord leads His living Church! The Lord reveals His will for the Church to His prophet. Yesterday, after we were invited to sustain Thomas S. Monson as President of the Church, we also had the privilege to sustain him, the counselors in the First Presidency, and members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators. Think of that! We sustain 15 men as prophets of God! They hold all the priesthood keys that have ever been conferred upon man in this dispensation."

As he has been called, may we sustain President Nelson as President of the Quorum of the Twelve, as we have sustained all of the other brethren, and our Prophet.

How must the Savior pray for us, and how should we pray?

How must the Savior pray for us, and how should we pray? What marvelous things the Savior must have asked the Father for on our behalf?  And how must he pray for us when he isn't in the presence of the Father? Scriptures record "And when he had said these words, he himself also knelt upon the earth; and behold he prayed unto the Father, and the things which he prayed cannot be written, and the multitude did bear record who heard him. And after this manner do they bear record: The eye hath never seen, neither hath the ear heard, before, so great and marvelous things as we saw and heard Jesus speak unto the Father; And no tongue can speak, neither can there be written by any man, neither can the hearts of men conceive so great and marvelous things as we both saw and heard Jesus speak; and no one can conceive of the joy which filled our souls at the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father" (3 Nephi 17:15-17 http://bit.ly/180Iu2k ).

The Savior is our advocate with the Father, and the blessings that await us as we turn to him in prayer are just waiting to be poured out upon us, so that our "cup runneth over," both in this life, and in the life to come.  And may we become one with the Father and the Son by making our prayers more meaningful, reaching out in faith as the Father of us all listens and lovingly responds.

Call upon the Father, in the name of Christ, and pour out your heart in prayer, and pray about not just yourself, but pray for those around you, for they are God's children as well.  And then act and serve others.  If you will do this, you will find that you are more a part of the Father's plan, and will be following the example of the Savior.  And you will be able to feel a power of the spirit, and be able to feel of the abundant blessings of the Lord upon you, as our Prophet has said.

"That he gave his only begotten Son..."

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  (http://bit.ly/12NHwk2) Of this truth the Savior said to Peter "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (http://bit.ly/16y1Yey)

The Savior loves us with a love we cannot comprehend.  He descended below all things so that we may return back to him and our Father in Heaven again with our families.  He will ever be there for us to strengthen us, lift us, and comfort us, and to bind us together in love.

May we all take the time to pour our hearts out in gratitude to our Father in Heaven for the gift of his only begotten son, and take a moment afterwards to wait for the Lord's response through the spirit.  Then, may we love others as the Savior would have us do.

The Healing power of the Savior, and the Faith of a Woman

This is a wonderful story of the healing power of the Savior, of his kindness and mercy, and of the remarkable faith of a woman.

From the new testament: "And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,
Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace."

How often do we reach out to the Savior? How often do we have faith in him enough to heal us of not just physical maladies, but our emotional, mental, and other trials we may go through. He is ever there for us, and through faith, and through the priesthood, miracles may be wrought.

God is over all, is always there, and Forever our Hope

"Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend. And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them" (Mosiah 4:9-10 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/4.9-10

God is over all.  He is always there.  In him is the perfection of Faith and the Hope of our Salvation.  Repent, and come unto him, and you will feel the sweet peace of his love for you.  Turn to him when you need comfort, and he will be there for you.

When you pray, let the Father know that you love him, and that you love Christ, and take a moment to feel of their love for you.  For it is real and brings life and meaning to life.  It wipes all other cares away for a bit.  For we are his children, and his arm of mercy is stretched out to us all the day long, as the scripture says.

"I bear testimony that Jesus is the living Christ" -An Apostle's Testimony

“I bear testimony that Jesus is the living Christ, whose Atonement makes it possible for us to be purified and so be worthy of the companionship of the Holy Ghost.

“I testify that with our faith and diligence, we can one day hear the words that will bring us joy: ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant.’”  —President Henry B. Eyring (https://www.lds.org/prophets-and-apostles/unto-all-the-world/president-eyring-testifies-of-jesus-christ )

Jesus Christ is our Redeemer, who stands at the right hand of the Father. He continues to work today for our salvation, and is at the head of the Church, and today apostles and prophets testify of his reality and divinity.

As we pour out our hearts to Our Father in Heaven in Prayer, may we express our gratitude and love for our Savior, Jesus Christ, for it is because of him that we can approach him in prayer, and receive answers to the deepest stirrings of our hearts.

He is there, and his love for us is beyond comprehension, and can be felt as we come unto him, and more importantly, serve others.  May we ever serve others, so that, as President Eyring quoted from the Bible, we may hear the words, 'well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.' Hope of the Glory of Christ many years before his coming

Listen to the words of Jacob about Christ.  "For, for this intent have we written these things, that they may know that we knew of Christ, and we had a hope of his glory many hundred years before his coming; and not only we ourselves had a hope of his glory, but also all the holy prophets which were before us.

Behold, they believed in Christ and worshiped the Father in his name, and also we worship the Father in his name." (Jacob 4:3-4 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/jacob/4)

Jacob taught many more things about Christ, as did other prophets, prophets who saw in vision the coming of Christ.  For hundreds of years, the prophets in the Book of Mormon taught about Christ, that he would come, and placed their hope in him.

They had faith in Christ who hadn't come to earth yet.  What powerful faith.  May we all have the same faith in Christ that those people had, for he is our Savior and Redeemer, for he longs for all to come unto him and be saved.  And, at a future day, he will come again to rule and reign upon the earth.

"I am the Good Shepherd...I lay down my life for the sheep"

"I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.  As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.  And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." -St. John 10:14-16

The Savior truly is the Good Shepherd, and he gave his life so that we could live again with him, the Father, and our families.  May we ever be grateful for a loving, kind, succoring Savior who has redeemed us.

Do we realized the import of his sacrifice for us?  Do we know, deep in our souls, that he has redeemed us?  Do we pour out our hearts to the Father in his name, so that our burdens and sins may be lifted?

May we ever do so.

"That they might not Suffer..." -Gethsemane

Because of Jesus Christ, our tender-hearted older brother's Atonement in the Garden and on the cross, we can repent and return back to the presence of our Father in Heaven again.

The Doctrine and Covenants tells us of what he suffered in Gethsemane.  "For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent; But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I; Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink— Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men."

My heart fills with gratitude for what the Savior did for me, and at the same time I am pained when I think of the pains he suffered for me and for all of us.  May we ever remember that, and have Gratitude for him.

The Power that flows from the Temple-from Christ

May we attend the temple often to feel of the presence of the Lord, and to do the work for those who came before us.

President Hinckley has said that the work we do for the dead in the Temple is the closest we can come to the Sacrifice the Savior made for us, because we are doing things for others that they cannot do for themselves. We become Saviors on Mount Zion.

President Benson has similarly said "Ours is the privilege of opening the doors of salvation to those souls who may be imprisoned in darkness in the world of spirits, that they may receive the light of the gospel and be judged the same as we."

Additionally, we can go to the temple to feel of his presence. "And inasmuch as my people build a house unto me in the name of the Lord...my glory shall rest upon it; Yea, and my presence shall be there, for I will come into it, and all the pure in heart that shall come into it shall see God" (D & C 97:15-16 http://bit.ly/14GTNd6 )

President Benson also said the following about the temple:  "The temple ceremony was given by a wise Heavenly Father to help us become more Christlike.

We will not be able to dwell in the company of celestial beings unless we are pure and holy. The laws and ordinances which cause men and women to come out of the world and become sanctified are administered only in these holy places. They were given by revelation and are comprehended by revelation."

He has also said "The veil is very thin. We are living in eternity. All is as with one day with God. I imagine that to the Lord there is no veil. It is all one great program. I am sure there is rejoicing in heaven as we meet [in the temple]. Our progenitors are rejoicing, and my hope and prayer is that we will take advantage of the opportunities now afforded us to come regularly to the temple."

May we ever attend the temple, the House of the Lord, and be filled with the spirit as we do.

"I'll make my hands like those from Galilee..."

Please take a moment and read the lyrics of the song His Hands, by Kenneth Cope. May we all make our hands like those from Galilee.  Below that learn how you can find out more about Christ.

his hands
tools of creation
stronger than nations
power without end
and yet through them we find our truest friend
his hands
sermons of kindness
healing men's blindness
halting years of pain
children waiting to be held again

his hands would serve his whole life through
showing man what hands might do
giving, ever giving, endlessly
each day was filled with selflessness
and i'll not rest until i make of my hands what they could be
'til these hands become like those from galilee

his hands
lifting a leper
warming a beggar
calling back the dead
breaking bread, five thousand fed
his hands
hushing contention
pointing to heaven
ever free of sin
then bidding man to follow him

his hands would serve his whole life through
showing man what hands might do
giving, ever giving, endlessly
each day was filled with selflessness
and i'll not rest until i make of my hands what they could be
'til these hands become like those from galilee

his hands
clasped in agony
as he he lay pleading, bleeding in the garden
while just moments away
other hands betray him
out of greed, shameful greed
and then his hands
are trembling
straining to carry the beam that they've been nailed to
as he stumbles through the streets
heading for the hill on which he'd die
he would die
they take his hands, his mighty hands, those gentle hands
and then they pierce them, they pierce them
he lets them, because of love
from birth to death was selflessness
and clearly now i see him with his hands
calling to me
and though i'm not yet as i would be
he has shown me how i could be
i'll make my hands like those from galilee

The Witness-President Packer sees Christ, and is his Apostolic witness

President Packer, before he died, testified of seeing the Savior, along with many other powerful teachings of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Here is one of his last testimonies of the Savior.  "After all the years that I have lived and taught and served, after the millions of miles I have traveled around the world, with all that I have experienced, there is one great truth that I would share. That is my witness of the Savior Jesus Christ.

Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon recorded the following after a sacred experience:

“And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!

“For we saw him” (D&C 76:22–23).

Their words are my words.

I believe and I am sure that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that He lives. He is the Only Begotten of the Father, and “by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God” (D&C 76:24).

I bear my witness that the Savior lives. I know the Lord. I am His witness. I know of His great sacrifice and eternal love for all of Heavenly Father’s children. I bear my special witness in all humility but with absolute certainty, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen." - Boyd K Packer, Apostle of the Lord

For the Blessings of Liberty-Freedom in this Land

Our Forefathers were inspired of the Lord to create this land, a land of liberty, a place where God could begin to restore his gospel to the earth.  They have often stated that God, or Divine Providence was what inspired them to create this land with the freedoms it has.  But the blessings of Freedom started long before the birth of the United States of America.

May each of us be like Captain Moroni in the defense of liberty, especially religious Liberty, for if all of us were like him, the very powers of hell would be shaken forever.  We may not go to war, but armed with the power of our testimonies, and a determination to speak out for Religious Liberty, we do as Moroni did, in his day.  Here is the account:

"And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole.

And he fastened on his head-plate, and his breastplate, and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the title of liberty) and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land—" (Alma 46:13 http://bit.ly/12oIdBb )

A bit more about Moroni:

"Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men." (Alma 48:17 http://bit.ly/1dnRJOJ )

May we do all we can to stand strong for our beliefs.  For our families, our God, our Religion, and our Freedom.  As our Forefathers and Moroni and those who followed him did.

One Lesson from the Road to Emmaus

The spirit testifies of Christ.  May we all have the spirit testify to us of the truths taught by Christ in the scriptures, and we will have the same testimony that the two men on Emmaeus Road did.  After seeing the Savior and speaking with him, yet not knowing him, afterwards they recognized the spirit which had borne witness of the truth of his words.

The account.  "And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?"

May we be filled with the spirit, as was Lehi, by studying the scriptures

May we be as Lehi, and search the scriptures, and find the blessings of the Lord therein.  May the spirit touch our hearts as we read in the scriptures, and may it lead us closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ, and be filled with the spirit, as was Lehi-

"And after they had given thanks unto the God of Israel, my father, Lehi, took the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass, and he did search them from the beginning.

And he beheld that they did contain the five books of Moses, which gave an account of the creation of the world, and also of Adam and Eve, who were our first parents;

And also a record of the Jews from the beginning, even down to the commencement of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah;

And also the prophecies of the holy prophets, from the beginning, even down to the commencement of the reign of Zedekiah; and also many prophecies which have been spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah.

And it came to pass that my father, Lehi, also found upon the plates of brass a genealogy of his fathers; wherefore he knew that he was a descendant of Joseph; yea, even that Joseph who was the son of Jacob, who was sold into Egypt, and who was preserved by the hand of the Lord, that he might preserve his father, Jacob, and all his household from perishing with famine.

And they were also led out of captivity and out of the land of Egypt, by that same God who had preserved them.

And thus my father, Lehi, did discover the genealogy of his fathers.

And now when my father saw all these things, he was filled with the Spirit" (1 Nephi 5:10-17 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/5.10-17 )
