Christ is the Strength of Israel and Zion. All blessings flow from him, from the temple, and it relates to us in our day. Isaiah said the following:
"Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean." (Isaiah 52:1)
This has reference to the temple and the priesthood. Elias Higbee asked the Prophet Joseph about what this means, and the response is in Doctrine and Covenants section 113;
"He had reference to those whom God should call in the last days, who should hold the power of priesthood to bring again Zion, and the redemption of Israel; and to put on her strength is to put on the authority of the priesthood, which she, Zion, has a right to by lineage; also to return to that power which she had lost." (D&C 113:8)
That power to act in the name of Christ was lost, but now is restored, along with the power to bind on earth and in heaven, and with all of the attendant blessings that flow from the temple.
We have all been called to the work of the Master, to lift, to comfort, and when we go to the temple, we come out armed with the power of God to help us, both men and women.
When we have been endowed, all acts of kindness, all service we do is aided by the power of the priesthood. We are the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy, to bring the power of Christ to others in this life.
And it happens as we focus on Christ, who is our strength. May we ever do that.
