As I took a moment to hold my 6 year old the other day, she said to me "Dad, I love you." It melted my heart. Little children let their lights shine so well, and it caused me to reflect, do we let our lights so shine?
We have been told in Matthew that we are to "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven."
So, do we let our lights shine? Our prophet and all of the apostles have counselled us to serve others, and lift the "hands that hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees"(Elder Holland quoting Hebrews 12:12).
We have also been told that as we lift others, the Savior feels as if we had lifted him, and as we have done it unto the least of those, we have done it unto the Savior (Elder Eyring, and Matthew 25:40).
The Savior invites us to learn of him (D&C 19:23), and to Come, Follow him (Many New Testament Scriptures).
As we do that, we will come to know the Savior, and we will develop a love for our fellow travelers on this mortal sojourn. We will take joy in lifting others, and serving them, and in serving HIM. And our light will so shine, even the light of Christ will spread to others when they see us.
May we ever do that, is my prayer.
