The Healing at the Pool of Bethesda-and The Priesthood Power today

The Savior healed a man at the pool of Bethesda by saying to him compassionately "'Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.' And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked."

What an incredible miracle.  The God whom we worship has the power to bring life to lifeless limbs, and to even raise life.  And his love for us is beyond comprehension.

May we all have faith in the Savior who is full of compassion, and who can comfort us, strengthen us, and heal us of our physical and spiritual infirmities. And because of him we will be able to return to him and our Father in Heaven again.

That same Priesthood Power that the Savior had is again on the earth to bless all of Heavenly Father's children.  May we ever have reverence for that power.  It is what binds all of us together to the Savior, and will bless the lives of all humankind who come to Christ.

"For their Redeemer is mighty..."

Listen to the powerful message about this picture by the artist, Howard Lyon.

For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee. - Proverbs 23:11

As I was drawing this piece, I imagined an encounter with Christ.  I pictured the Savior’s face and what it would be like to look into His eyes.  I thought of His humble birth and the crucifixion.  I tried to visualize Him at Gethsemane and resurrected at the garden tomb.  His life was one of contrasts, a King of Kings born in a manger.  He had the power to command the elements, but he condescended to redeem us all.

This drawing was done with charcoal and white chalk.  Charcoal has been used by artists for thousands of years.  It is the humblest of drawing tools.  Wood is consumed by fire and then compressed into sticks.  It makes a rich black pigment.  The white chalk is also an ancient drawing tool and is a perfect and pure white.  It provides a contrast with the charcoal that adds depth to the drawing.

It reminded me of the symbolism of the burnt offering, wherein the pure and perfect sacrifice was placed on the altar and completely consumed by the flames.  Christ, the Son of God, lived humbly and placed his perfection upon the altar of Gethsemane in our behalf, doing what we could not.  Through His offering, that which is stained and burnt becomes pure and white.-Howard Lyon

"The Firstfruits of Them that Slept"

"But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept." (1 Corinthians 15:20 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/1-cor/15.20 )

How glorious are the words spoken by the angel, "He is not here: for he is risen!" (Matthew 28:6 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/28.6 )

The Savior had triumphantly claimed the victory over sin and death, so that all would be resurrected, and if we live worthy, to gain eternal life and exaltation.

What wondrous words proclaimed this ultimate, eternal, infinite triumph.

May we ever follow Christ, follow his commandments, and stand strong for our beliefs.  He will ever be at our side as we do.  For he lives, and seeks to help us return to him and the presence of the Father.  The victory has already been won.

May we ever remember that.

President Snow speaks with Christ Face to Face

"Lorenzo Snow was still at work in his office in the Salt Lake Temple. It was dark outside, and the stars had come out. He was the fifth President of the Church, but he was also serving as the first president of the Salt Lake Temple at the time. He often stayed late into the evening to finish his work.

President Snow’s granddaughter Allie Young loved to visit him at his office. In those days, family members of the temple president were allowed to visit him there. They were not allowed to go through the entire temple, however, until they were old enough and had been found worthy and ready to make the sacred temple covenants.

This special evening Allie was with her grandfather in his office. The doorkeepers had gone home and the night watchmen had not yet come in, so they were alone. When Allie was ready to leave, President Snow went to a dresser and took a large bunch of keys from the drawer so that he could let her out the main entrance. Together they walked down a large corridor near the celestial room.

President Snow suddenly stopped and said, “Wait a moment, Allie. I want to tell you something.” Allie listened intently as her grandfather told her of an unforgettable experience he had once had at that place in the temple: “It was right here that the Lord Jesus Christ appeared to me at the time of the death of President Woodruff. He instructed me to go right ahead and reorganize the First Presidency of the Church at once and not wait as had been done after the death of the previous presidents, and that I was to succeed President Woodruff [as President of the Church].”

President Snow held out his left hand and said, “He stood right here, about three feet above the floor. It looked as though he stood on a plate of solid gold.”

Still speaking in hushed, reverent tones, President Snow told Allie that the Savior’s appearance was so glorious and bright that he could hardly look at Him.

President Snow put his right hand on Allie’s head and said, “Now granddaughter, I want you to remember that this is the testimony of your grandfather, that he told you with his own lips that he actually saw the Savior, here in the temple, and talked with him face to face.”

Allie listened to every word of this sacred experience and never forgot that precious moment but shared it many times later in her life with her family and friends."

President Snow’s vision was related by Susan Arrington Madsen and appeared in the Friend, Aug 1993 on page 14.  It was adapted from “The Lord Needed a Prophet”  page 83-83 by Susan Arrington Madsen.

"Behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me..."

The Book of Mormon was meant for us, today. The Savior, Jesus Christ, showed the prophets of the Book of Mormon our day, because he knew what we would need to know. Listen to Moroni: "Behold, the Lord hath shown unto me great and marvelous things concerning that which must shortly come, at that day when these things shall come forth among you. Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not. But behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me, and I know your doing" (Mormon 8:34-35 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/morm/8.34-35 )

Moroni also gave us the promise of the Book of Mormon, "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."

The Book of Mormon was kept and preserved, and hidden away by Moroni and revealed by God for us in our day. The Book of Mormon is not just another Book of Scripture. The word of God, as given from the Savior to his prophets, has been given to us so that it might speak the truth to generations seeking after the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Witness: President Packer's Special Witness of the Reality of the Savior

Below Read Elder Packer testify that he has seen the Savior, Jesus Christ, one of the last testimonies he gave; "After all the years that I have lived and taught and served, after the millions of miles I have traveled around the world, with all that I have experienced, there is one great truth that I would share. That is my witness of the Savior Jesus Christ.

Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon recorded the following after a sacred experience:

“And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!

“For we saw him” (D&C 76:22–23).

Their words are my words.

I believe and I am sure that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that He lives. He is the Only Begotten of the Father, and “by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God” (D&C 76:24).

I bear my witness that the Savior lives. I know the Lord. I am His witness. I know of His great sacrifice and eternal love for all of Heavenly Father’s children. I bear my special witness in all humility but with absolute certainty, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen." - Boyd K Packer, Apostle of the Lord

President Eyring "I am a witness of the Resurrection of the Lord..."

Read President Eyring testify he has seen the Savior, Jesus Christ. "I am a witness of the Resurrection of the Lord as surely as if I had been there in the evening with the two disciples in the house on Emmaus road. I know that He lives as surely as did Joseph Smith when he saw the Father and the Son in the light of a brilliant morning in a grove of trees in Palmyra.

This is the true Church of Jesus Christ. Only in the priesthood keys held by President Thomas S. Monson is the power for us to be sealed in families to live forever with our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We will on the Day of Judgment stand before the Savior, face to face. It will be a time of joy for those who have drawn close to Him in His service in this life. It will be a joy to hear the words: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”19 I so testify as a witness of the risen Savior and our Redeemer in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."

Sisters, The Hands of Heaven on Earth

The Relief Society teaches that the women in our lives are the hands of heaven on earth, and there is no phrase more descriptive I can think of than that to describe the women and mothers in our lives.

May we realize the divine nature they have, and show the love to these daughters of God that the Savior would show to them if he were here. For they are righteously raising his children, both as parents and leaders. They raise their own and/or help raise others children.

From President Hinckley "wherever you may live, may the windows of heaven be opened and blessings come down upon you. May you live with love one for another. May you reach down to lift up those whose burdens are heavy. May you bring light and beauty to the world and particularly into your homes and into the lives of your children.
You know as I do that God our Eternal Father lives. He loves you. You know as I do that Jesus is the Christ, His immortal Son, our Redeemer. You know that the gospel is true and that heaven is near if we will cultivate it in our lives.”

Quote from "To the Women of the Church," by Gordon B Hinckley" https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2003/10/to-the-women-of-the-church

And to those who have no children. You make such wonderful contributions, and the Lord has promised you a fulness of joy, that your righteous desires will be fulfilled, and that no blessing will be witheld from you in the eternities. In this life or the next, you will be given children of your own to raise.  This has been said by numerous prophets.

The Apostolic Witnesses of Jesus Christ

Apostles have seen the Savior, Jesus Christ, and their duty is to preach Christ to the world...

“I bear witness to you that those who hold the apostolic calling may, and do, know of the reality of the mission of the Lord” (Stand Ye in Holy Places [1974], 64–65).

Apostles know for certain by personal revelation that Jesus is the Christ and that He lives as a resurrected being. The scriptures explain that “with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 4:33).

President Joseph F. Smith (1838–1918) explained the sacred nature of their calling: “These twelve disciples of Christ are supposed to be eye and ear witnesses of the divine mission of Jesus Christ. It is not permissible for them to say, I believe, simply; I have accepted it simply because I believe it. Read the revelation, the Lord informs us they must know, they must get the knowledge for themselves. It must be with them as though they had seen with their eyes and heard with their ears and they know the truth.

That is their mission, to testify of Jesus Christ and Him crucified and risen from the dead and clothed now with almighty power at the right hand of God, the Savior of the world.

That is their mission, and their duty, and that is the doctrine and the truth that it is their duty to preach to the world and see that it is preached to the world” (in Conference Report, Apr. 1916, 6). Lehi Teaching at Jerusalem-The Tender Mercies of the Lord

"Therefore, I would that ye should know, that after the Lord had shown so many marvelous things unto my father, Lehi, yea, concerning the destruction of Jerusalem, behold he went forth among the people, and began to prophesy and to declare unto them concerning the things which he had both seen and heard.

And it came to pass that the Jews did mock him because of the things which he testified of them; for he truly testified of their wickedness and their abominations; and he testified that the things which he saw and heard, and also the things which he read in the book, manifested plainly of the coming of a Messiah, and also the redemption of the world.

And when the Jews heard these things they were angry with him; yea, even as with the prophets of old, whom they had cast out, and stoned, and slain; and they also sought his life, that they might take it away. But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance." (1 Nephi 1:18-20 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/1.18-20 )

As we know, the tender mercies of the Lord were with Lehi and his family, even though they had to endure hardships.  The Lord strengthened them.  He similarly can strengthen us in our trials and hardships, and help comfort us during hard times.

The Risen Lord in the Americas and Where he stands today

"And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto them saying: Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world.

And it came to pass that the multitude went forth, and thrust their hands into his side, and did feel the prints of the nails in his hands and in his feet; and this they did do, going forth one by one until they had all gone forth, and did see with their eyes and did feel with their hands, and did know of a surety and did bear record, that it was he, of whom it was written by the prophets, that should come.

And when they had all gone forth and had witnessed for themselves, they did cry out with one accord, saying: Hosanna! Blessed be the name of the Most High God! And they did fall down at the feet of Jesus, and did worship him" (3 Nephi 11:13-17 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/11.13-17 )

Jesus Christ did appear to the peoples of the Americas, just shortly after his resurrection. He stands today at the head of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the author and the finisher of our Faith, the one chosen from before the foundations of the world to be our Savior and Redeemer. And he is the Savior of the entire world.

As the "stone cut without hands" rolls forth across the world, millions of God's children are coming to know the truth of his gospel. Yet, he is still personal enough to touch our hearts individually. He loves each person and is involved in the details of our lives, as President Monson has said.

May we ever remember that.

"...and the life was the light of men.”

Today's profound message comes from Simon Dewey, the artist of this painging, Grace and Truth:
"I love the Gospel of John. The opening verses of chapter one are at once poetic and sublime, simple yet profound:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God....In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” To each of us on this journey home, John’s powerful witness of the Savior remains a guide as we come to realize the reality of it for ourselves. “We beheld his glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”(John 1:14) -Simon Dewey

May we all live worthy so that when we see the Savior, we will be able to behold his glory, and live in his presence again. He is the Life and the Light of men. And he is real, and involved in the details of our lives, and if we trust in him, he will lead us back to our heavenly home.

The Power of the Savior's Prayers for us

Examples of the Savior Praying are few but powerful in the scriptures. In addition to the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13, of an obedient son praying to his loving Father, there is more.

Modern Revelation gives us prayers from the Savior that caused the people who heard it to be overcome by the Spirit.

In the Book of Mormon, when he visited the people of the Americas, accounts are given of him praying for the people to the Father.  Here is a tender, yet powerful account of a prayer he prayed:

"he himself also knelt upon the earth; and behold he prayed unto the Father, and the things which he prayed cannot be written, and the multitude did bear record who heard him.

And after this manner do they bear record: The eye hath never seen, neither hath the ear heard, before, so great and marvelous things as we saw and heard Jesus speak unto the Father;

And no tongue can speak, neither can there be written by any man, neither can the hearts of men conceive so great and marvelous things as we both saw and heard Jesus speak; and no one can conceive of the joy which filled our souls at the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father.

And it came to pass that when Jesus had made an end of praying unto the Father, he arose; but so great was the joy of the multitude that they were overcome" (3 Nephi 17:15-18 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/17.15-18 )

May we ever be grateful for a Savior who is our advocate with the Father, who stands in and is able to welcome us back to the presence of the Father.

As we pour our hearts out in prayer, may we truly commune with our Father in Heaven and Savior, Jesus Christ through the spirit.  May we feel of their love for us as we serve others and study and ponder the scriptures.  And as we do, our prayers will become more meaningful and rich.

For God is real, and is active in our lives, and is preparing for us to return to him, to live in glory with him, forever engaged in his work.  May we ever remember that.

"I am the Way, the Truth and the Life/For God so loved the World..."

In a world seemingly full of turmoil, the Love of the Savior stretches from before the foundations of the Earth into the eternities and beyond. It never ends.

The power of his love touch the tenderest or hardest of hearts, and prepare us to live in the presence of God. Our salvation is his very reason for existence. He is personal enough to know the pains in the quiet chambers of our hearts, and can help transform those into lives filled with Love. He can work miracles in all of our lives, and truly does, if we but have faith and come unto him.

He said "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me", and the scriptures say also "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 14:6 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/14.6 ;John 3:16 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/3.16 )

May we ever turn to Christ, feel of his matchless power, and know that he atoned for us so that he could comfort, heal, and strengthen us in our trials, and our cares of life. He is the source of our salvation: happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come.

The Promise of the Gathering of Israel for us today

The Gathering of Israel is happening both on earth and in the heavens, both literally by people coming to the gospel and through temple work.  We are all a part of this great work in bringing many to the knowledge of their Redeemer, Jesus Christ, and to help them return to his presence.  And that work is being done on both sides of the veil.  Listen to the Book of Mormon on the subject:

"And as surely as the Lord liveth, will he gather in from the four quarters of the earth all the remnant of the seed of Jacob, who are scattered abroad upon all the face of the earth.

And as he hath covenanted with all the house of Jacob, even so shall the covenant wherewith he hath covenanted with the house of Jacob be fulfilled in his own due time, unto the restoring all the house of Jacob unto the knowledge of the covenant that he hath covenanted with them.

And then shall they know their Redeemer, who is Jesus Christ, the Son of God; and then shall they be gathered in from the four quarters of the earth unto their own lands, from whence they have been dispersed; yea, as the Lord liveth so shall it be. Amen." (3 Nephi 5:24-26 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/5.24-26 )

Because of the Gathering of Israel, more will come to know their Redeemer, Jesus Christ.  What a wonderful promise and opportunity we have.  May we ever help with that gathering by doing missionary work, and by attending the temple often to do the work for those who have gone before.  As we do, we lift others closer to the Savior.

What a sacred opportunity we have as we do these things.  The scriptures tell us what Joy we will feel with those who come to the gospel in the kingdom of our Father if we do missionary work.  And with Temple Work (and may we add Genealogy and Indexing work, too), President Hinckley tells us that we become Saviors on Mount Zion, for we are doing work for others that they cannot do for themselves.

Engage in this great work, in whatever way you are able, and feel of the love of the Lord as you do.  You will have joy in this life, and eternal life in the life to come.

The Savior has felt our Heart-Rending Trials

The Savior is there to comfort us as we reach out to him in Faith, for he understands our trials. "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: ...Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows..." (Isaiah 53:3-4 http://bit.ly/1cObHfQ )

The Savior went through the agony of Gethsemane, and the horrors of the Cross so that he would better be able to comfort and succor us in our trials, afflictions, pains, and suffering in this life. As one who knows where we have been, he can lift us higher.

He knows each of us intimately, and with a love that we cannot comprehend, but it changes us when we feel of it as we pour out our hearts in prayer, and as we serve others.

Sometimes we have the most heart-rending trials in this life, and sometimes we feel alone, or like heaven is far away. Know that you are not alone, because there is one who has felt what you are feeling, and that is Christ.

The Redeemer of the World

"I am Alpha and Omega, Christ the Lord; yea, even I am he, the beginning and the end, the Redeemer of the world.

I, having accomplished and finished the will of him whose I am, even the Father, concerning me—having done this that I might subdue all things unto myself—" (D&C 19:1-2 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/19.1-2 )

The Savior has overcome all things so that we can return home again, and so that here we may be comforted, strengthened, helped, encouraged, and may feel of God's love in all ways and in all righteous things.

All the tender feelings of the spirit, all of the miracles that happen, all of the love we feel and the good we do are made possible by the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

And because of that, we may inherit all the Father has.

"I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory..."

"I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" (Joseph Smith-History 1:16-17 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/pgp/js-h/1.16-17 )

Joseph Smith Saw God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. He bore that testimony his entire life. In Joseph's words "I had actually seen a light, and in the midst of that light I saw two Personages, and they did in reality speak to me; and though I was hated and persecuted for saying that I had seen a vision, yet it was true...I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it."

Through subsequent visions and heavenly visitations, Christ's true gospel was restored to the earth, to bless us in this life, and to be exalted in the next, to dwell with our Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ forever.

I hope you take a moment in your prayers to thank our Father in Heaven for the blessings of the Restoration, to let him know you love him, and wait for the response as you do. You will be able to feel of the love of God for you. This restoration is so individual and personal as to be able to lift you in all your cares of life.

"The Purpose of the temple is to...turn hearts to the Savior Jesus Christ"

Elder Kent F Richards of the Seventy, and Sr Rosemary Wixom here speak about the sacredness of the temple for the Media covering the Open House of the new Provo City Center Temple.

Sr Wixom remarks: "The Purpose of the temple is threefold: to turn hearts to the Savior Jesus Christ, to unite families, and to provide sacred ordinances necessary for Exaltation. From my experience, everything that happens in the temple is personal and connected to the Savior."

I hope you take the time to watch this and be inspired.

Our Savior, our Good Shepherd

Our Shepherd is our Savior, our Redeemer, our all. He is the author of our salvation, and intimately connected to each of our lives. He has felt exactly your pains, sorrows, sins, and beckons for you to come unto him and have your burdens lifted.

He loves you with a love you cannot comprehend until you have felt it. And then comes a remembrance of his love, that love that extends from before the foundations of the world into the eternities.

He is the good Shepherd. What wonderful words of peace and blessings come from him. May we ever follow him so that goodness and mercy may follow us, and we may dwell in the house of the Lord forever, as the psalm says:

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever." (Psalms 23 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/ot/ps/23 ).

"Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World"

"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. (D&C 43:34, other scriptures ). Both to Prophets and in his ministry, the Savior declared that he was and is the Savior of the World.

And he will come again. We are "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ"

When that glorious day comes, no matter what side of the veil we may be on, may we be ready to greet him with joy, having done all that we could to build his kingdom by serving others, lifting them, and by "strengthening the feeble knees" (Elder Holland)

In this way, may we all truly love the Savior, so that he says to us at the last day "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." (Matthew 25:40), and as is said in verse 46, gain eternal life.

The Savior loves all of his children, and longs to lift each of them, and we are God's hands on earth. We have a "mandate to serve" as President Monson says (and does).

May we do that and feel of the spirit in this life, and the warm embrace of our Savior in the world to come.

To be in the Presence of the Anointed One

"Anointed One" comes from Hebrew and means "Messiah." "Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth." (2 Nephi 2:6 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/2.6 ).

"And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning;" (Mosiah 3:8 http://bit.ly/1gIo164 )

I know the Savior, Jesus Christ lives. He is real, and works today for our salvation. Prophets and Apostles have seen the Risen Lord in this dispensation, and he can be close to each one us, the children he loves, through the spirit. And there are times when, even though we cannot see him, we can feel of his presence through the veil, most especially in the temple, his holy house. The Sacred, Holy, Annointed One who is there to comfort us, strengthen us, lift us and to save us.

That presence fills the soul with a feeling of love that calms all fears, comforts all pains, and leaves behind a knowledge that the Savior is real, that he is there to comfort us. And each time you feel the spirit, it is a reminder of the reality of Jesus Christ, for that is how it feels to be in his presence. May we all seek after that and be filled with that love that is beyond compare.

As if the Savior were giving the Sacrament to us...

Remember that it is as if the Savior himself were giving the Sacrament to us when we take of it. For those who administer those sacred emblems do so in his place. The Savior himself instituted the sacrament in remembrance of his sacrifice for us.

May we remember that if we are willing to take upon us his name, to comfort those in need of comfort, to lift others, his spirit will be with us. Below are both accounts of him instituting it, in the New Testament and in the Book of Mormon.

"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (Matthew 26:26-28 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/26.26-28

And in the Book of Mormon:

"And when the disciples had come with bread and wine, he took of the bread and brake and blessed it; and he gave unto the disciples and commanded that they should eat.

And when they had eaten and were filled, he commanded that they should give unto the multitude.

And when the multitude had eaten and were filled, he said unto the disciples: Behold there shall one be ordained among you, and to him will I give power that he shall break bread and bless it and give it unto the people of my church, unto all those who shall believe and be baptized in my name." More at 3 Nephi 18:3-11 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/18.3-11 )

"...and ye shall find rest unto your souls"

"Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:29-30 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/11.29-30 ).

May we all come to know the love of the Savior of our souls, have him take our burdens, and in him find rest. He descended below all things in the Garden and on the cross so that he would have the gentleness and compassion to comfort and lift us in our trials. He is the gentle Christ.

As you pray to our Father in Heaven, I hope you take the time to thank him for the gift of his only begotten son, our loving Savior, and let the Father know how much you love him and the Savior. Then take a moment to feel of the Love he has for you, the love which changes all.

You will never be the same again.

"I am the way, the truth, and the life..."

"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/14.6 )

Only through the Savior, Jesus Christ, may we return to our heavenly home. He is real, is aware of each of us, and as President Monson has said, he is in the details of our lives.

May we all return to our Father in Heaven again by relying on the Atonement of the Savior, Jesus Christ, and here on earth may we feel of their love as we pour our hearts out in prayer and study the scriptures.

The Comforting Power of Christ is again Restored

"With great love and admiration for the many disciples of Jesus Christ who are not members of this Church, we humbly declare that angels have returned to the earth in our day. The Church of Jesus Christ as He established it anciently has been restored, with the power, ordinances, and blessings of heaven. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ." —Neil L. Andersen, ""What Thinks Christ of Me?"" http://www.lds.org/general-conference/2012/04/what-thinks-christ-of-me

The Gospel of Jesus Christ, once lost in the darkness of apostasy, has been restored to the Earth in what has been termed by Elder Neal A Maxwell as a wonderful flood of light. All of the blessings available in Christ's original church are again on the Earth for the blessing of all.

At the center of that is Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World, who is able to touch the innermost parts of each individual soul through the spirit. He will ever sustain us, and as the Prophet has stated, is in the details of our lives.

Follow him, love him, and be grateful for the blessings he has given you. He will ever sustain you in all things as you turn to him. For the heavens are again opened, and God's blessings are again on the earth for each of us individually.

The Life and the Light of the World

Jesus Christ is the center of our Faith. In his words "Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I am the life and the light of the world...verily, verily, I say unto you, that as many as receive me, to them will I give power to become the sons [and daughters] of God, even to them that believe on my name. Amen." (D & C 11:28, 30 http://bit.ly/GAbxQD )

May we all become the Sons and daughters of God, through relying on the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He is the center of the plan of salvation, he is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the end. His love was from before the foundations of the world, and will last forever into the eternities. He is Jesus Christ, our all and all, and the Center of our Faith.

Saturday, January 2, 2016

"That he lives! For we saw him!"

Our Savior gave all for us.  What would we do for him and for others?  Our goals, our hopes, our desires, and our actions should be pointed to the Living Christ, to team with him in the work of Salvation.  "Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God...He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come."

And from the Prophet Joseph Smith "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father— That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God."

Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World is real. As our prophet has said, he is involved in the details of our lives and is there for us if we reach out to him. We can know for ourselves that he is real, and that he loves us if we will ask our Father in Heaven in Christ's name. Christ's church has been restored to the earth, with all of the blessings from previous Biblical times. The Gospel, once lost, has been restored by the Power of God for our times.

May we ever remember that, and show our gratitude by serving others, thus teaming up with Christ for the benefit of others.  Our Prophet has said that each of us have a "mandate to serve."  When we lift the burdens of others, it is as if we lift the burdens of Christ himself.  Think of that.  How do you want to help Christ today?
