"That He Lives! For we saw him"

“And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! “For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father—“That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God” (D&C 76:22–24 , taken from The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles online at http://bit.ly/1YVEBED).

Jesus Christ is our Divine Redeemer, who stands at the right hand of the Father.  He continues to work today for our salvation, and is at the head of the Church.

As we pour out our hearts to Our Father in Heaven in Prayer, may we express our gratitude and love for our Savior, Jesus Christ, for it is because of him that we can approach him in prayer, and receive answers to the deepest stirrings of our hearts.

He is there, and his love for us is beyond comprehension, but can be felt as we come unto him in prayer.

The Power of God made Manifest, then and now

When Nephi's brothers tried to kill him for trying to build a ship, as he had been commanded by God to do, he said to them "In the name of the Almighty God, I command you that ye touch me not, for I am filled with the power of God, even unto the consuming of my flesh; and whoso shall lay his hands upon me shall wither even as a dried reed; and he shall be as naught before the power of God, for God shall smite him...

And later..."And it came to pass that the Lord said unto me: Stretch forth thine hand again unto thy brethren, and they shall not wither before thee, but I will shock them, saith the Lord, and this will I do, that they may know that I am the Lord their God.

And it came to pass that I stretched forth my hand unto my brethren, and they did not wither before me; but the Lord did shake them, even according to the word which he had spoken.

And now, they said: We know of a surety that the Lord is with thee, for we know that it is the power of the Lord that has shaken us. And they fell down before me, and were about to worship me, but I would not suffer them, saying: I am thy brother, yea, even thy younger brother; wherefore, worship the Lord thy God, and honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long in the land which the Lord thy God shall give thee." (1 Nephi 17:48,53-55 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/17.48,53-55 )

We may not have to have the Lord "shake" our brothers, but that same power of God is again on the earth, to heal, to comfort, and to bless the lives of others. This is the same power by which the Book of Mormon was translated, another blessing in our lives. May we ever be grateful for it.

The Sacred Record passes from Immortal to Mortal Hands

After 4 years of preparation, Joseph obtains the plates from Moroni, and the sacred record passes from immortal to mortal hands for translation. "On the twenty-second day of September, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-seven, having gone as usual at the end of another year to the place where they were deposited, the same heavenly messenger delivered them up to me with this charge: that I should be responsible for them; that if I should let them go carelessly, or through any neglect of mine, I should be cut off; but that if I would use all my endeavors to preserve them, until he, the messenger, should call for them, they should be protected" (https://www.lds.org/scriptures/pgp/js-h/1.59 )

The translation of the Book of Mormon was a miracle. A boy with a third grade education who couldn't spell was the instrument through which God translated the Book of Mormon from the Gold plates. On occasion during translating, Joseph and his scribes were often in the presence of Glorified Beings, as reported in historical accounts. God was instrumental in the translation, and in 60 short days, the transcript was ready for publishing.

A total of 12 people were permitted to see the plates and handle them, and 3 of those people were shown those plates by an angel of the Lord. This angel was a resurrected, Glorified messenger from God.

The Restoration of the Melchizedek Priesthood and its origin in Christ

"The power and authority of the higher, or Melchizedek Priesthood, is to hold the keys of all the spiritual blessings of the church—"

We are told in Hebrews, in the New Testament that Christ was a High Priest after the Order of Melchizedek, and the Presiding High Priest. He gave that same priesthood to his apostles, with the authority to preside. After the church fell away, that Authority was lost. In our modern era, Peter, James, and John, now resurrected, glorified beings, appeared to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery, and restored the Melchizedek Priesthood to the earth, and the authority to minister as the Savior did. The long night of apostasy was over.

What a blessing it is to have the power and authority of the Savior on this earth, so that we, and all the peoples of the earth, and all who have or ever will live upon it, may be blessed. It stretches from before the beginning of time into the eternities and beyond, and has the power to touch and change the hearts of the children of men, one by one and heart by heart, and endure with them forever.  It is the Power of God.

May we be grateful for the many blessings, too numerous to count, that have come to this earth since that time.

This is my beloved son-Hear Him.

"I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" (Joseph Smith-History 1:16-17 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/pgp/js-h/1.16-17 )

Joseph Smith Saw God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. He bore that testimony his entire life. In Joseph's words "I had actually seen a light, and in the midst of that light I saw two Personages, and they did in reality speak to me; and though I was hated and persecuted for saying that I had seen a vision, yet it was true...I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it."

Through subsequent visions and heavenly visitations, Christ's true gospel was restored to the earth, to bless us in this life, and to be exalted in the next, to dwell with our Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ forever.

I hope you take a moment in your prayers to thank our Father in Heaven for the blessings of the Restoration, to let him know you love him, and wait for the response as you do. You will be able to feel of the love of God for you. This restoration is so individual and personal as to be able to lift you in all your cares of life.

"And they came forth one by one..."

"And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto them saying:

Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world.

And it came to pass that the multitude went forth, and thrust their hands into his side, and did feel the prints of the nails in his hands and in his feet; and this they did do, going forth one by one until they had all gone forth, and did see with their eyes and did feel with their hands, and did know of a surety and did bear record, that it was he, of whom it was written by the prophets, that should come.

And when they had all gone forth and had witnessed for themselves, they did cry out with one accord, saying:

Hosanna! Blessed be the name of the Most High God! And they did fall down at the feet of Jesus, and did worship him." (3 Nephi 11:13-17 -Rest of the account at https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/11)

The Testimony of Moroni to us, Today, and his appearance to Joseph

Long before Moroni visited the Prophet Joseph in his room and again the next day (pictured), he wrote in the Book of Ether some words directed to us, the Gentiles, and relate to us that he had seen the Savior, Jesus Christ.

"And now I, Moroni, bid farewell unto the Gentiles, yea, and also unto my brethren whom I love, until we shall meet before the judgment-seat of Christ, where all men shall know that my garments are not spotted with your blood.

And then shall ye know that I have seen Jesus, and that he hath talked with me face to face, and that he told me in plain humility, even as a man telleth another in mine own language, concerning these things;

And only a few have I written, because of my weakness in writing.

And now, I would commend you to seek this Jesus of whom the prophets and apostles have written, that the grace of God the Father, and also the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, which beareth record of them, may be and abide in you forever. Amen." (Ether 12:38-41 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/12)

He didn't just speak to the Prophet Joseph, Moroni's words speak to us today of the reality and divinity of the Savior, Jesus Christ, that he is the Savior and Redeemer of the World, the promised Messiah, and issues a call to a people to come unto Christ, to the Father, and to the Holy Ghost, and be saved.  May we ever listen to his counsel.

Below is the story of this picture, and of one of Moroni's visits to Joseph Smith, to begin the restoration of all things, and the bringing forth of the Book of Mormon.

Joseph Smith, after having been visited by God, The Father and His Son was also visited by the angel Moroni 3 times in one night.  The next morning, after no sleep, his father (seeing that Joseph's strength was exhausted) told him to go rest.

Joseph Smith states "I started with the intention of going to the house; but, in attempting to cross the fence out of the field where we were, my strength entirely failed me, and I fell helpless on the ground, and for a time was quite unconscious of anything.

The first thing that I can recollect was a voice speaking unto me, calling me by name. I looked up, and beheld the same messenger standing over my head, surrounded by light as before. He then again related unto me all that he had related to me the previous night, and commanded me to go to my father and tell him of the vision and commandments which I had received." The Lesson in Consider the Lilies of the Field

As you see this picture, remember that the Savior taught the following parable about this: "And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." (Matthew, Luke, 3 Nephi, D&C)

How much faith do we have? Do we sometimes obsess about the future so much that we don't have time for the more meaningful things in life?  This is one of many lessons that can be taken from this.  Spend just enough time on what we need, and spend the rest doing things more meaningful, like scripture study, reading a gospel book, serving others, maybe even someone in our own family.

Though the Lord expects us to plan ahead, he doesn't want us to spend all of our time doing that.  We need to be about laying up treasures in heaven while we are here on earth.

May we ever remember that.

The Sealing Power Restored to the Earth by Elijah in the Kirtland Temple

After Christ and Moses and Elias appeared, Elijah appeared to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery and restored the Sealing Power  "After this vision had closed, another great and glorious vision burst upon us; for Elijah the prophet, who was taken to heaven without tasting death, stood before us, and said:

Behold, the time has fully come, which was spoken of by the mouth of Malachi—testifying that he [Elijah] should be sent, before the great and dreadful day of the Lord come—

To turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the children to the fathers, lest the whole earth be smitten with a curse—

Therefore, the keys of this dispensation are committed into your hands; and by this ye may know that the great and dreadful day of the Lord is near, even at the doors." (Doctrine and Covenants 110:13-16 online at https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/110.13-16 )

The Sealing power restored by Elijah is present throughout all the work we do in the temple.  It is the power by which the ordinances become binding on earth and in heaven.  As the Book of Revelations speaks about people being sealed unto the Lord in the Latter-Days, so this is happening in temples, through all of the ordinances there, and the crowning ordinance being Sealed to Christ, to our families, to our ancestors, and our posterity to come.

May we ever be grateful for that.

Christ has come to his temple, and to us in it

The Savior, Jesus Christ, appears to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery in the Kirtland Temple-and what it can mean for us as we attend the temple: "The veil was taken from our minds, and the eyes of our understanding were opened.

We saw the Lord standing upon the breastwork of the pulpit, before us; and under his feet was a paved work of pure gold, in color like amber.

His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying:

I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father.

Behold, your sins are forgiven you; you are clean before me; therefore, lift up your heads and rejoice.

Let the hearts of your brethren rejoice, and let the hearts of all my people rejoice, who have, with their might, built this house to my name.

For behold, I have accepted this house, and my name shall be here; and I will manifest myself to my people in mercy in this house.

Yea, I will appear unto my servants, and speak unto them with mine own voice, if my people will keep my commandments, and do not pollute this holy house.

Yea the hearts of thousands and tens of thousands shall greatly rejoice in consequence of the blessings which shall be poured out, and the endowment with which my servants have been endowed in this house.

And the fame of this house shall spread to foreign lands; and this is the beginning of the blessing which shall be poured out upon the heads of my people. Even so. Amen.

(Doctrine and Covenants 110:1-10 online at https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/110.1-10)

We know this description of the Savior is correct, because it is similar to the  description given of the Savior by John the Revelator.  And it was not just Joseph who saw him, it was Oliver Cowdery with him.

How can that affect us as we attend the temple?  The Savior lives, and has accepted the temples of the Church as his houses.  In them are done the ordinances of Salvation for both the living and the dead.  We may not see the Savior there with our own eyes, but we can feel of his presence and his love for us through the veil if we pray for it while there in his sacred house.  We are promised in the Doctrine and Covenants that his presence shall be there in the temple.

May we live worthy, and then feel of the Love of Christ-that love which changes us forever.  And with that love, we will know that he Lives.

"He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world"

"Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God...He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come." (Read more at http://bit.ly/1bAqOhI From The Living Christ, The Testimony of the Apostles ).

Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World is real. He is involved in the details of our lives and is there for us if we reach out to him. We can know for ourselves that he is real, and that he loves us if we will ask our Father in Heaven in Christ's name. The Love of the Savior is only a prayer away, as we pour out our hearts to our Father in Heaven in prayer.

Christ's church has been restored to the earth, with all of the blessings from previous Biblical times. The Gospel, once lost, has been restored by the Power of God for our times. To find out more about this restoration, read online at http://bit.ly/1cbX4GK

"from all eternity to all eternity, the Great I Am, even Jesus Christ"

"Hearken and listen to the voice of him who is from all eternity to all eternity, the Great I Am, even Jesus Christ—The light and the life of the world; a light which shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not."

May we all hearken to the voice and example of the Savior.  As he followed the Father in all things, even to Gethsemane and Golgotha, may we similarly follow the Savior in all things we may be called to go through.  Then, we may have the spirit to be with us for time, and to live in the presence of God and the Lamb for all eternity.

We have been blessed with apostles and prophets on the earth today.  As the scripture says "whether by mine own voice or the voice of my servants, it is the same."  May we listen to the words of God's servants on this earth, and pray about them, and then feel the spirit confirm to our hearts that what they say is true.

Jesus Christ is real, and he stands at the head of the Church.  Over the weekend I had the chance to meet with and listen to an apostle testify of the divinity of the Savior, and to testify of the divine nature of this work we know as the Gospel of Christ.  The church is true, and it is led by Christ.

May we ever follow him, and hearken to his words, or the words of his servants.

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief

Please take a moment to read these tender yet beautiful words in the scriptures about the Savior, for the Savior knows us, and understands us, as no one ever can, and has atoned for our sins because he loves us.

"For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:2-5 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/ot/isa/53.2-5 )

The Savior knows us, knows our trials, knows our challenges we face, and can forgive our sins, too. Loneliness, sadness, pain, trials, temptation, all of the evils of the world, discouragement, desperation, stress, he knows it all.  There is nothing we could ever experience that he hasn't already experienced, and his greatest desire is that we reach out to him so he can comfort and strengthen us through the spirit. May we ever rely on him, and turn to him in all things.

The Savior is our Hope over all

"Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend. And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them" (Mosiah 4:9-10 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/4.9-10)

God is over all. He is always there. In him is the perfection of Faith and the Hope of our Salvation. Repent, and come unto him, and you will feel the sweet peace of his love for you. Turn to him when you need comfort, and he will be there for you.

When you pray, let the Father know that you love him, and that you love Christ, and take a moment to feel of their love for you. For it is real and brings life and meaning to life. It wipes all other cares away for a bit. For we are his little children.

The Mount of Transfiguration-a preparation for the atonement

The Mount of Transfiguration was a sacred event where the Savior gained instruction about the sacrifice he would soon make, and where he was transfigured in front of Peter James and John. More below:

"And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.

And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.

And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead." (Mark 9:2-9 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/mark/9 )

In other accounts of this event, it is reported that Moses and Elias spoke to the Savior about the atonement that he would "accomplish" at Jerusalem at the end of his life.  He did just that and gained the victory over sin and death.  This atonement was planned before the creation of the world, and it was known he would be our Savior and redeemer.

He is ever there for us.

Said the Savior to the woman at the well; "Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

The Savior and the woman speak some more, and later..."The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he."

Such a wonderful passage. The Savior declared that he was the promised Messiah, and then fulfilled all of the Biblical prophecies. He lived a sinless life, taught his gospel, atoned for our sins, and rose from the dead so all may. The Savior still lives, and is real.  As he said to the woman at the well, he is the promised Messiah, and still works today for our Salvation. He will ever comfort us, and as President Monson has said, he is in the details of our lives.

Are we inviting the Savior into our lives?

Do we invite the Savior into our homes, into our thoughts, and into our lives? Do we turn off the distractions and invite the spirit in? Do we turn off tv, music, internet sites, and other media with questionable content, and spend time serving others, studying about the Savior, and inviting the spirit of the Lord into our homes? Do we find rest in the Savior?

The Savior yearns for us to do so, and pleads for us to. As Elder Talmage said, "His invitation is one of the grandest outpourings of spiritual emotion known to man: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Jesus the Christ, Quoting Matthew 11:28-30 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/11.28-30 ).

May we all invite the Savior into our lives through our thoughts, prayers, and most of all, actions.  He has promised us his spirit, and as we invite that in, we will be lifted, strengthened, comforted, encouraged, and helped in all we do.

Are we as little children?

As I held my 6 year old daughter close, I realized she, like all children, lets her light shine and has a purity that is beyond compare. Is it no wonder the Savior loved children so much?

When asked who was greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven the Savior did and said the following: "Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."

May we all become as little children, trusting our Father in Heaven, and be full of love. For we are our Father in Heaven's Children.  He will always be there for us, and as we, as children, trust him, turn to him, and love him and others, he will ever be there for us.

The Flow of Revelation Continuing in today's Church

Some detractors of the Church mistakenly ask the question "Why are there no new revelations if the Church is founded upon revelation?" Often their reason for doing so is to try to discredit the church. But for some, it is an honest question.

Part of the answer is that many of the revelations received during the time of Joseph Smith were information about how the church was to be organized, and specific to that timeframe.

But there are more reasons than that, and they can't be explained away with that argument.  Many revelations dealt with missionaries being called to serve. And other revelations had to do with people being called to different positions and callings within the church. Others were specific blessings for certain people.  The answer is that revelation hasn't stopped.  I will give examples of how these continue today.

Recently, Elder Dallin H Oaks on a recent Facebook post spoke of the process of calling Missionaries, and said it is always a revelatory experience, and they [the apostles] come fasting to it. But we don't add a new section of the Doctrine and Covenants with each missionary called. A letter is simply sent out to the missionary, and when set apart as a missionary, he or she is given revelation pertaining to his or her mission. The church leaders do not have the time to set all of the missionaries apart. So the revelatory experience in the church expands, and local leaders have a part in the revelatory experience. The Lord through their leaders gives the new missionary guidance they can take with them on their mission.

Above I mentioned that some of the Doctrine and Covenants was for calling people to certain positions. Every Conference we are asked to sustain an ever increasing number of releases and sustainings to our leadership. But each time that happens we don't add to the Doctrine and Covenants. But the revelation goes on. And not just at the highest levels. It continues in over 30,000 congregations across the world.

I know during times I have been set apart for callings in the church, my leaders have been prompted by the spirit to say things they could not have possibly known, because they didn't know me personally. Only myself and the Lord knew the things they said. And the spirit bore witness to me that they were receiving the revelation from God.

Finally, with regards to specific blessings for certain people, that has expanded as well. Many of the sections of the doctrine and covenants were devoted to revelations given to specific people. That flow of revelation has not stopped today, it has expanded as well. There are simply too many people in the church for church leaders to give individual blessings to. Most often it comes by them exercising the priesthood to invoke the blessings of heaven upon the membership of the church in general.

But for individuals, in all of the over 3000 stakes, there is a Patriarch, a High Priest, who gives blessings to the members of the church called a Patriarchal Blessing. This blessing happens once in a person's life (most often), and is private to that person, and is not shared with others, with exceptions being their parents and later, spouses, although church leaders are able to have access to them.

This blessing is recorded and given to the person to keep, and is considered scripture for that individual person. These blessings can contain a declaration of their lineage, and what blessings they can receive as the posterity of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It can contain insights and prophecy about their lives. It is meant to be a guide through your life. So, even though it is not made public, often thousands of revelations per year are recorded and sent out to worthy church members, specific to their circumstances.

I know that decades after I received my patriarchal blessing, I have now come to realize some of the blessings promised in my Patriarchal blessing. Just as being set apart for callings, the Patriarch said things he could not have possibly known, and now that it is much later in life, I have seen the fulfillment of many of the blessings contained therein, many times being confirmed by the spirit, as personal revelation.

What we see in our modern era is that Revelation has not stopped, but is expanding, and is alive and well. Revelation is the lifeblood of the church and from the top of the church where new leaders are called, to the congregation level, where bishops rely on revelation through the holy ghost to lead their flocks, we see not a church that has stopped in the number of revelations given, but a church that has expanded the number of revelations given to the point that there is almost not room enough to hold the quantity of revelations given.

The breadth and scope of this great revelatory work is incredible. As the Late President Boyd K Packer said, "The mind of man could not conceive it." God is behind this marvellous work. What began in 1820 (though really began before the foundations of the world) has expanded beyond what mortal man is able to do, and that is being done through revelation given from the Lord and his authorized servants.

That revelatory process will continue into the millenium, where the work will continue until at the last, the Lord declares the work is done, and will present it to the Father.

All of that work will have been powered by the atonement, which makes possible revelation, and as we continue to seek it out, we will become a part of the Lord's work on this earth and in the life to come, eventually to inherit all the father has, to become joint-heirs with Christ, and to become, as the Savior pleaded for in the great intercessory prayer, One with the Father as he, Christ, is with him.

That oneness is made possible by the Atonement, and happens by revelation, both now and in the eternities.

Elder Melvin J Ballard's Experience of Seeing the Savior

Elder Melvin J. Ballard, an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, relates the following vision he had of the Savior: “I had sought the Lord . . . and that night I received a wonderful manifestation and impression which has never left me. I was carried to this place—into this room. I saw myself here with you. I was told there was another privilege that was to be mine; and I was led into a room where I was informed I was to meet someone.

As I entered the room I saw, seated on a raised platform, the most glorious being I have ever conceived of, and was taken forward to be introduced to Him. As I approached He smiled, called my name, and stretched out His hands towards me. If I live to be a million years old I shall never forget that smile. He put His arms around me and kissed me, as He took me into His bosom, and He blessed me until my whole being was thrilled.

As He finished I fell at His feet, and there saw the marks of the nails; and as I kissed them, with deep joy swelling through my whole being, I felt that I was in heaven indeed. The feeling that came to my heart then was: Oh! If I could live worthy, though it would require four-score years, so that in the end when I have finished I could go into His presence and receive the feeling that I then had in His presence, I would give everything that I am or ever hope to be!” (Melvin J. Ballard—Crusader for Righteousness, Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1966, p. 65-66.)

The Savior Lives! He is Real, and from the Prophet Joseph Smith on down, people have been able to see him, or to feel of his presence through the veil.  He is there.  It is worth every sacrifice to be able to feel what it is like to be in his presence.  May we all be worthy of that.

Redemption is in and through the Holy Messiah

"Anointed One" comes from Hebrew and means "Messiah." "Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth." (2 Nephi 2:6 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/2.6 ).

"And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning;" (Mosiah 3:8 http://bit.ly/1gIo164 )

I know the Savior, Jesus Christ lives. He is real, and works today for our salvation.  Prophets and Apostles have seen the Risen Lord in this dispensation, and he can be close to each one us, the children he loves, through the spirit.  And there are times when, even though we cannot see him, we can feel of his presence through the veil.  The Anointed One who is there to comfort us.

It fills the soul with a feeling of love that leaves behind a sacred knowledge that the Savior is real, that he is there to comfort us.  And each time you feel the spirit, it is a reminder of the reality of Jesus Christ.  May we all seek after that and be filled with that love that is beyond compare.

"The works of thine hands"

May we all be grateful that the Savior is over all, and that even with all that goes wrong in the world, that the world is in our Savior's loving hands because of the atonement. He is more loving, glorious, righteous, and powerful than any man or organization that ever existed in the earth, and is yet so personal that he can gently touch the deepest chambers of the most pained heart.

Everything in the world that is good is good because of the power of the atonement, and everything around us in the world exists because of God. "And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands" (Hebrews 1:10 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/heb/1.10).

May we all have faith that Christ is over all.

The Church of Jesus Christ as he established it anciently has been restored

"With great love and admiration for the many disciples of Jesus Christ who are not members of this Church, we humbly declare that angels have returned to the earth in our day. The Church of Jesus Christ as He established it anciently has been restored, with the power, ordinances, and blessings of heaven. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ." —Neil L. Andersen, ""What Thinks Christ of Me?"" http://www.lds.org/general-conference/2012/04/what-thinks-christ-of-me

The Gospel of Jesus Christ, once lost in the darkness of apostasy, has been restored to the Earth in what has been termed by Elder Neal A Maxwell as a wonderful flood of light.  All of the blessings available in Christ's original church are again on the Earth for the blessing of all.

At the center of that is Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World, who is able to touch the innermost parts of each individual soul through the spirit.  He will ever sustain us, and as the Prophet has stated, is in the details of our lives.

Follow him, love him, and be grateful for the blessings he has given you.  He will ever sustain you in all things as you turn to him.

From the Resurrection to the completion of the Work

So wonderful were the words spoken by the Savior that Easter Morning...

"And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her." (John 20:14-18)

Ever since that time, many of the Saints, Prophets, and apostles have proclaimed that the Savior lives, that he rose from the dead, and that all will again be risen.  And that we have the chance to return to live with God again.  May we ever make that our goal.

He will come again, coming in the clouds of heaven, with the righteous with him, and will rule and reign on earth.  Then, when the work is done, he will declare that it is finished, and will present the kingdom to the Father.

May we ever rely on the Savior, come unto him, and in his gospel find peace, salvation, and exaltation with our families, our ancestors, our posterity, and all of the family of man who will come to him.

An account of the Restoration of God's Church on the Earth

God himself chose the date for the organization of the church.  Read more about the account below:

"Early in April 1830 the young prophet received the revelation that has become section 20 of the book called the Doctrine and Covenants. It is often referred to as a “revelation on Church organization and government.” Of this, the Prophet Joseph wrote: “We obtained of him [Jesus Christ] the following, by the spirit of prophecy and revelation; which not only gave us much information, but also pointed out to us the precise day upon which, according to his will and commandment, we should proceed to organize his Church once more here upon the earth.”

The first verse of the revelation reads: “The rise of the Church of Christ in these last days, being one thousand eight hundred and thirty years since the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the flesh, it being regularly organized and established agreeable to the laws of our country, by the will and commandments of God, in the fourth month, and on the sixth day of the month which is called April.” [D&C 20:1]

One cannot study this revelation without being tremendously impressed with the knowledge and understanding the Lord of heaven poured out upon his servant concerning the matters vital to the salvation of man and the reestablishing of the kingdom of God upon the earth." (April 6, 1830: The Day the Church was Organized, link below)

Additionally, here is a quote from the article that says one part of what happened that day-

“the Holy Ghost was poured out upon us to a very great degree—some prophesied, whilst we all praised the Lord, and rejoiced exceedingly.”

This is God's true church on this earth today, organized by his command and with him as its head.

It began with only 6 members, and it now numbers over 15 million today.  In scripture we are promised it will never again be taken from the earth, and is that Great Stone cut without hands that will roll forth throughout the Earth.

As Elder Packer said, The mind of man cannot conceive [the scope and magnitude] of this Latter Day work.  What began that day in 1830 will continue until Christ the Lord presents the kingdom complete to his Father, and says, "The Work is Done."

We are the recipients of these great blessings. Eternal life and exaltation for us, our ancestors, our posterity, our families, and all of the family of man who come unto Christ will be the recipients of the blessings of heaven.

May we ever be grateful for that.

I urge you to follow the links to read the powerful accounts and articles about the restoration of the Church in our day.

"Go ye therefore, and teach all Nations..."-For All Mankind

The scriptures are full of references that the Savior is the Savior of the whole earth. What a wonderful reminder of that.

His declaration that he is over all and his charge to take the Gospel to others still echoes to us now. "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." May all of us share the gospel more freely with all, respectfully and lovingly, so that they may feel of the Love of God that we all too often take for granted, but which gives us life.

How well do we look to God in all things?

May we follow the example of the Savior in looking to our Father in Heaven in faith in all things, in the name of Christ, and be able to feel of his love for us. As the Savior taught:

"...how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" (Matthew 7:11 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/7.11 )

How well do we look to God in our trials, sufferings, triumphs, hopes, dreams, loves, losses, and in all things?  Do we trust our Father in Heaven that he can comfort us, joy with us, strengthen us, encourage us, and be there for us?

He lives, and by the power of the Atonement, all of these things can happen if we simply live worthily, and obey God's Commandments.  And as a result our prayers will be answered, and more, all that the Father has will be ours.
