There is a lesson to be learned from the Savior walking on Water. The account begins "But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid." (Matthew 14:24-27)
We later see Peter coming out to him, first in faith, then faltering, and the Savior reaches out to save him.
When the waves and the storm are raging all around us, when the trials of life threaten to engulf us, do we focus on the Savior, and as other scripture says, in him find rest?
So often we focus on our fears, our trials, and our troubles. It drains us and leaves us empty. When we place our hearts in the hand of the Lord, he gives us rest, and it gives a peace that "surpasseth all."
May we ever have that peace. For he is the Master of Earth, sky, and the heavens, and has power over all.
