There is a lesson in the healing of the Blind Man from Bethsaida "And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town."
We see here that the healing didn't happen right away. Sometimes when we get Priesthood blessings, done by the same authority that Christ had when he was here, the effect is instantaneous. In other cases, some time goes by as the healing process is accelerated.
That is because we are healed by our Faith combined with God's power. That is essential to our being healed of our afflictions. All of us are on different levels of spirituality, and so healings can take more time for others, but make no mistake, it is still done by the same power Christ had when he was upon the earth.
There is another reason. All of the healings we have recorded by Christ were maladies for which current medicine had no cure. Leprosy, the woman with the issue of blood (who had seen doctors to no avail), and blindness, all were things their medicine had no cure for.
As the woman with the issue of blood, the Lord expects us to exercise faith, and if there is a cure on earth, to seek after it. Then, if we have done all that we can, we can call upon him to help us in ways we cannot help ourselves.
May we ever remember that as we seek after the blessings of the Priesthood.
