The Savior of the World - Jesus Christ - Link to an article

This is the introduction of an article about the Savior, link below.

"Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and in him is the fulness of Salvation. He came in the meridian of time, lived a perfect life and wrought out a perfect atonement, and rose again from the dead. He will come again, as has been prophesied. He loves each of us with a love we cannot comprehend, but as we come to know him better through pouring out our hearts to him, and studying about him in the scriptures, he will help us to become more like him, for he knows that is the way to true happiness. He Lives. He is a glorified, exalted, Savior of the World, and he still beckons all to come to him."

And my presence shall be there...

"And inasmuch as my people build a house unto me in the name of the Lord, and do not suffer any unclean thing to come into it, that it be not defiled, my glory shall rest upon it;

Yea, and my presence shall be there, for I will come into it, and all the pure in heart that shall come into it shall see God" (D & C 97:15-16 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/97.15-16?lang=eng#14 )

Do we invite the Savior into our lives?

Do we invite the Savior into our homes, into our thoughts, and into our lives?  Do we turn off the distractions and invite the spirit in?  He yearns for us to do so, and pleads for us to.  "His invitation is one of the grandest outpourings of spiritual emotion known to man: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."  (Jesus the Christ, Quoting Matthew 11:28-30 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/11.28-30?lang=eng#27 ).

Lord, I believe

A child, foaming at the mouth and possessed was brought to the Savior by the boy's Father.  The child had been in constant danger since childhood around fire and water, and his parents were no doubt constantly afraid for his safety and his life.

They pleaded with the Master, "if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.

But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose."

May we all believe he who has power over all things even the Savior himself, for he can help us overcome our trials, according to his will.

Suffer Little Children

The message and scripture comes from the artist of this picture, Liz Lemon Swindle, who continues to paint pictures of the Savior even though she has rheumatoid arthritis, and every brush stroke is painful.

"When the people brought their little children to the Savior His disciples rebuked them, but Jesus replied, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:13-14).

The Savior must have loved being surrounded by those perfect little souls who loved Him so dearly. I can imagine Him smiling as He watched them play and laughing as they told Him stories, the kind of simple and innocent stories all little children tell. I know they felt His love and longed to stay by His side.

This picture reminds me that no matter how old we get, we are still little children of a loving Father in Heaven."

What would the Savior have you do?

What would the Savior have you do?

"Be certain that every decision you make, whether temporal or spiritual, is conditioned on what the Savior would have you do. When He is the center of your home, there is peace and serenity. There is a spirit of assurance that pervades the home, and it is felt by all who dwell there."

The Son of Man hath descended below them all...

If you are in the middle of trials, or even in good times, pour your hearts out to our Father in Heaven, in the name of Christ, and through the power of the Atonement, he can and will lift you.

The Savior is there to comfort and lift us.  In the horrible trial Liberty Jail, the Lord comforted the prophet Joseph by saying

"know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.

The Son of Man hath descended below them all.  Art thou greater than he?"

The Greatest of all will never let us suffer more than we are able, but will lift us and comfort us.  May we ever be grateful for that.

Come Follow Me - an invitation from the Savior

"Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it."

In His Light...

"Little children seem to have an inborn goodness; a simple faith and natural desire to be taught and to walk in His light. The light of Christ is given to each and it shines in their faces. It is a light that shines in a helpful conscience that teaches of right and wrong. It is a light that illuminates their path when the way grows dark. It is a light that warms their hearts and lets them know that they are loved and always in His sight."  Quote by Greg Olsen.  "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." What thinks Christ of Me?

"I witness that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. He suffered and died for our sins and rose the third day. He is resurrected. In a future day, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is the Christ. On that day, our concern will not be, 'Do others consider me Christian?' At that time, our eyes will be fixed on Him, and our souls will be riveted on the question, 'What thinks Christ of me?'"

Jesus is the Living Christ...

From Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ:  "Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God. He is the great King Immanuel, who stands today on the right hand of His Father. He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come."  (The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles http://jesuschrist.lds.org/SonOfGod/eng/testimonies-of-him/articles/the-living-christ-the-testimony-of-the-apostles-of-the-church-of-jesus-christ-of-latter-day-saints )  From the Prophet Joseph Smith "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!  For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father— That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God." The Road Ahead

When we are beyond the limits of what our body and mind can handle, when we are tested beyond what we can experience, may we take comfort in knowing there is a perfect, caring, loving Savior who can comfort us and lift us; He knows the road ahead, because he has travelled it.  Both in his life, and through the Atonement.  He overcame it, and because he did, if we pour out our hearts to him in faith, he will lift us and help us.

Bible Stories

Because of the Holy Ghost, When we and our children read in the scriptures it is as if the Savior himself were sitting there with us, instructing us. May we read, ponder, and pray about the scriptures. The Savior has said, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." I Feel My Savior's Love

Please take a moment and read the lyrics of the song His Hands, by Kenneth Cope. May we all make our hands like those from Galilee.  Below that learn how you can find out more about Christ.

his hands
tools of creation
stronger than nations
power without end
and yet through them we find our truest friend
his hands
sermons of kindness
healing men's blindness
halting years of pain
children waiting to be held again

his hands would serve his whole life through
showing man what hands might do
giving, ever giving, endlessly
each day was filled with selflessness
and i'll not rest until i make of my hands what they could be
'til these hands become like those from galilee

his hands
lifting a leper
warming a beggar
calling back the dead
breaking bread, five thousand fed
his hands
hushing contention
pointing to heaven
ever free of sin
then bidding man to follow him

his hands would serve his whole life through
showing man what hands might do
giving, ever giving, endlessly
each day was filled with selflessness
and i'll not rest until i make of my hands what they could be
'til these hands become like those from galilee

his hands
clasped in agony
as he he lay pleading, bleeding in the garden
while just moments away
other hands betray him
out of greed, shameful greed
and then his hands
are trembling
straining to carry the beam that they've been nailed to
as he stumbles through the streets
heading for the hill on which he'd die
he would die
they take his hands, his mighty hands, those gentle hands
and then they pierce them, they pierce them
he lets them, because of love
from birth to death was selflessness
and clearly now i see him with his hands
calling to me
and though i'm not yet as i would be
he has shown me how i could be
i'll make my hands like those from galilee

The Sacred Grove

"I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me.

It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!"

Take a moment and feel the spirit in this wonderful arrangement of this hymn, sung so well by a Melchizedek Priesthood Choir at the Priesthood Session.  If you are viewing this by email, click the title link to be taken to where you may view this.

The Promise of the Book of Mormon: Please Share

Please share this: Read the promise of the Book of Mormon Online here and pray about it.  https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/moro/10.4-5?lang=eng#3 or request a free copy at http://bitly.com/ZVb27O  The Book of Mormon is the inspired Word of God. From the title page, it is "to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations" Prophets were told by God what to include in the book for us in our day. Moroni says "Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not. But behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me, and I know your doing." From the Prophet Joseph Smith “I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." My Glory shall rest upon it...and All the Pure in Heart Shall See God

"And inasmuch as my people build a house unto me in the name of the Lord, and do not suffer any unclean thing to come into it, that it be not defiled, my glory shall rest upon it;
Yea, and my presence shall be there, for I will come into it, and all the pure in heart that shall come into it shall see God" (D & C 97:15-16 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/97.15-16

Nearer, My God, to Thee

Please take the time to listen to all of this, and may you feel nearer to God as you listen to this prayer set to some glorious music, sung by a Priesthood Choir from Conference.  We can feel as near to God as we want to be, for he is there for us.  If you are viewing this by email, click the title link to be taken to where you may view this.

Hand in Hand...As we as God's children are with him

May we remember 2 things about ourselves and little children.  The Bible says:

"Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."

And, now that we are grown, may we all remember that we are as little children when compared to the understanding of the Lord, and often all we have to do to follow him is to reach out and take his hand.

This is my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased...

"And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."  (Matthew 3:16-17 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/3.16-17?lang=eng#15 )

By Small Means

The note and scriptures for this picture comes from Joseph Brickey, the Artist. May we all be a light unto the world in small ways. "Depicted here are two LDS missionaries who have stopped on their way to play marbles with some local kids. Although the missionary’s call is “to preach faith and repentance to every creature,” it is also to “be a light unto the world” (D&C 103:9) in ways that may include simple kindness or friendly gestures. Something as trivial as playing marbles may be a way of speaking to those you serve in their own language or on their own terms (see Alma 29:8; D&C 90:11). Helping bring souls unto Christ can mean many things that do not seem directly related to convincing the world of divine truth. Who can measure the influence of a kind word, a selfless act, or a Christ-like deed? For “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass… and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls” (Alma 37:6-7)."

What the Restoration Means for Me...The Apostasy and Restoration

As you watch this, may we all remember what the Restoration means to each of us in our lives now.  The authority to minister in holy things, and to have the gospel taught by servants of the Lord, new scripture, the blessings of the temple, the ability to receive personal revelation, and many more blessings too numerous to put here.

The Road to Emmaus

The message and scripture is from the artist of this painting, Liz Lemon Swindle.

"Three days after the Savior´s death, two of His disciples walked the dusty road from Jerusalem to Emmaus. As they spoke, they were joined by a traveler who asked about their conversation. The disciples replied, "Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem...they have crucified [Jesus]. But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel."
Then the stranger said, "Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?" He then opened the scriptures to them, showing how all of the prophets had testified that Christ would be crucified and rise on the third day. As night fell the disciples asked the traveler to join them for a meal. Sitting together the stranger, "...took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew...[it was Jesus]." - Luke 24:17-32
We are often like the disciples. We let the worries of the day keep us from recognizing that the Savior is walking alongside us. We are quick to treat our trials as curses, instead of trusting that with God´s perspective our "curses" may actually be blessings. May we be more willing to wait upon the Lord, and may we see things as they really are as we walk our own roads to Emmaus."

Jesus Declares the Parable of the Wheat and the Tares

In today's world, it is easy to become discouraged, but may we remember this parable of the Savior about the Wheat and the Tares having to grow together but being separated at the Last Day.  May we ever have faith in the Plan of our Father in Heaven, and in his timetable.  If you are viewing this by email, click the title link to be taken to where you may view this.

But for a small Moment

Posting this for any who have had grief or sadness in your lives, so you may know that the Lord knows what you are going through and is there to comfort and heal you.  The notes and scripture come from the Artist, Liz Lemon Swindle

"Joseph and Emma Smith had been married seventeen months when their first son, Alvin, was born on June 15, 1828. He died shortly after childbirth. The next two children also died in infancy and the young couple was heartbroken. The young couple would go on to bury six of their eleven children.

Joseph said: “Why is it that... innocent children, are taken away from us? The Lord takes many away, even in infancy, that they may escape the sorrows and evils of this present world; they were too pure, too lovely, to live on earth… Notwithstanding all this, we for a moment lose sight of it, and mourn the loss, but we do not mourn as those without hope...[for] mothers, you shall have your children [again].” - History of the Church 6:366

This painting reminds me that the Lord knows our sorrows and promises us that our, "afflictions shall be but a small moment; and then, if [we] endure it well, God shall exalt [us] on high." - D&C 121:7"

Stand - 2013 Theme Song

The 2013 Youth Theme song, it is good for everyone and shows how we have been blessed by the prophets of the Book of Mormon in our day.  It also shows us that if we live according to the commandments of the Lord, we will be blessed and find true joy.  May we all gain a testimony of this Great Latter-Day work, and nurture that through prayer and our actions.  If you are viewing this by email, click the title link to be taken to where you may view this.

He Lives!

The Savior Lives today, and his love for us never ends. He will always be there for us, always help us when we need him most. "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!" (D&C 76:22 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/76.22?lang=eng#21 ) Picture by Liz Lemon Swindle

The Spirit of Elijah: Ordinances and Covenants

There are hosts of the dead who have gone before us who wait for their salvation through the ordinances done in the temple. According to the prophet Joseph, vicarious temple ordinances are taught to spirits in spirit prison, and they wait upon us to do their family history and temple work. May we all gain a testimony of the Spirit of Elijah.
