He Lives!

From the artist: "Perhaps the most awesome event in history was that glorious moment when the Son of God stepped from the tomb and broke the chains of death that held us all bound. In that instant, majestic and triumphant, the singular act of sacrifice and love on the part of the Son and the Father bore fruit and gave us all the gift of life. As the son rose upon that first Easter day, the world was never to be the same again. All things that had been created and were to be created would now live forever through this gift, unconditionally given. What sweet hope this gives us today, that we can all live again, and live eternally, if we will but submit our will to Him who descended below all things that He might rise above all things. "How sweet the joy this sentence gives, I know that my Redeemer lives." ~ Simon Dewey

"I will give you rest"

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 5:16 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/5.16 )

"In this painting I wanted to depict the Savior with open arms, welcoming and inviting us to come unto Him, the Prince of Peace. My intention was to create an expression of His softness, forgiveness, and understanding; for He knows us and seeks after us that we may find rest and peace in Him.

I can imagine that in such an instance all other details and personal insecurities will fade away - and because of this I intentionally painted Him in white with a soft white background with no other details to distract us from Him. If we will follow Him and learn of Him we will truly find ourselves in His rest." ~ Simon Dewey

Saviors on Mount Zion

May we attend the temple often to feel of the presence of the Lord. President Hinckley has said that the work we do for the dead in the Temple is the closest we can come to the Sacrifice the Savior made for us, because we are doing things for others that they cannot do for themselves. We become Saviors on Mount Zion.

The Temple is the House of The Lord, where we can go to feel of his presence. "And inasmuch as my people build a house unto me in the name of the Lord...my glory shall rest upon it; Yea, and my presence shall be there, for I will come into it, and all the pure in heart that shall come into it shall see God" (D & C 97:15-16 http://bit.ly/14GTNd6 )

May we all truly love Christ, and feel of his love for us

"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Treasure these things up in your hearts..." (D&C 43:34 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/43.34 )

May we all truly love the Savior, truly love him and let him know in our prayers. He will let us know how much he loves us as we do. And may we treasure up the words of Christ, and follow him by loving and serving others, truly loving and serving them, so we may return to our Father in Heaven again with him and our families.

I Am the Resurrection and the Life

Before the Savior raised Lazarus from the dead he said "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:" (John 11:25 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/11.25 )

We will all live again, and will have the chance to return to the presence of our Father in Heaven, if we will but turn to the Savior, he who is our Redeemer, our Advocate with the Father, and in whom is power over all things through love. May we ever come and follow him.

"He is not Here..."

“He is not here: for he is risen” (Matthew 28:6)

May we all be grateful for these words, spoken by a heavenly messenger 2 millenia ago. The center of the entire plan of salvation was forever in place, and there was a way for our salvation and resurrection, and a way for blessings to be poured out upon us in this life as well. Each time we are comforted by the spirit, each time we are strengthened by the Lord, each time we reach out in service, anytime we do anything good, all of that was made possible and was announced by the words "He is Risen."

Compassion as the Savior

May we all have compassion on others, as the Savior did. "And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:

And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.

And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.

And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,

Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.

And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God." (Luke 18:35-43 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/luke/18.35-43 )

The Power to Bind on Earth and to Bind in Heaven

After Peter declared that Jesus was the Christ, The Savior said to him "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:19 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/16.19 )

This power to bind on earth and in heaven was restored to the prophet Joseph Smith and recorded in the Doctrine and covenants multiple times (D&C 127:7, D&C 124:93, D&C 132:46, D&C 128). Because of the miracle of the Restoration of the Gospel, the principles the Savior established in New Testament times have been restored to this earth to bless our Father in Heaven's children. With the miracle of temple work, all of Father in Heaven's children who have ever lived on the earth, and who would have accepted it if they were alive, will be able to have the opportunity to accept or reject those blessings, and inherit all that our Father in Heaven has. And these blessings were spoken of in the Bible.

All things in the temple point to the Savior Jesus Christ. We are sealed to him and to our families forever.

The Great Mediator

The Savior is our advocate with the Father, and how must he plead to the Father in our behalf. And this so that through prayer we may be comforted in trials, may be forgiven, and may return back to the presence of the Father, all by the power of the Atonement. Lehi spoke to his sons of looking to the Savior, the Great Mediator.

"And now, my sons, I would that ye should look to the great Mediator, and hearken unto his great commandments; and be faithful unto his words, and choose eternal life, according to the will of his Holy Spirit; "

May we all look to the Great Mediator, even Christ, who makes intercession for us with the Father, and so gain eternal life again with him.

He is there, He is Real

"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I am the life and the light of the world. I am the same who came unto mine own and mine own received me not;

But verily, verily, I say unto you, that as many as receive me, to them will I give power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on my name. Amen."

The Savior's love can reach the furthest part of the hardest heart, and can give comfort to the tenderest soul. He knows each of us individually, and is involved in the details of our lives in a way we cannot comprehend. He is there. He is real.

May we all become the sons and daughters of God, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. May we follow him, emulate him, and at the end, return back to him and our Father in Heaven again.

"I am the resurrection, and the life..."

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (http://bit.ly/12NHwk2) Of this truth the Savior said to Peter "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (http://bit.ly/16y1Yey)

The Savior loves us with a love we cannot comprehend. He descended below all things so that we may return back to him and our Father in Heaven again with our families.

May we all take the time to pour our hearts out in gratitude to our Father in Heaven for the gift of his only begotten son, and take a moment afterwards to wait for the Lord's response through the spirit. Then, may we love others as the Savior would have us do.

"Sweep the Earth as with a Flood"

A powerful new quote from Elder Bednar's talk Today about social media "Brothers and sisters, what has been accomplished thus far in this dispensation communicating gospel messages through social media channels is a good beginning—but only a small trickle. I now extend to you the invitation to help transform the trickle into a flood. Beginning at this place on this day, I exhort you to sweep the earth with messages filled with righteousness and truth—messages that are authentic, edifying, and praiseworthy—and literally to sweep the earth as with a flood."

Share the gospel online, with Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, blogs, and other social media.  Flood the earth with your testimonies.  Feel free to share anything from this blog or Facebook page as well.

"I am the way, the truth, and the life..."

"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

The Savior invites to "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls."

As we come unto the Savior, we will be able to feel of his love for us, through the spirit, and as we follow him, we may feel of that spirit more abundantly. He is our Savior, our Redeemer, and the Author of our Salvation. He is Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the Living Christ - And he lives

From Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ: "Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God...He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come."

And from the Prophet Joseph Smith "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father— That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God."

Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World is real.  He is involved in the details of our lives and is there for us if we reach out to him.  We can know for ourselves that he is real, and that he loves us if we will ask our Father in Heaven in Christ's name.  Christ's church has been restored to the earth, with all of the blessings from previous Biblical times.  The Gospel, once lost, has been restored by the Power of God for our times.

Endued with Power from on High

The Savior said to the twelve and others after he was resurrected "behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high."(Luke 24:49) That is what happens every day in temples all across the world. Both the living and the dead are endowed with power against the adversary. The New Testament Church has been restored in our day, and the blessings will last for eternity.

He is Risen

How wonderful are the words "He is not here: for he is risen" The Prophet Joseph Smith said, “And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! “For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father—That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God” (D&C 76:22–24 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/76.22-24).

Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, and has broken the bonds of sin and death, and has made it possible to return back to the presence of our Father in Heaven, to live with him and our families forever. When there, we will help the Father and Savior with their work, bringing to pass the immortality and eternal life of man [and women]

Healing at the Pool of Bethesda-and healing us

The Savior healed a man at the pool of Bethesda by saying to him compassionately "'Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.' And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked."

May we all have faith in the Savior who is full of compassion, and who can comfort us, strengthen us, and heal us of our physical and spiritual infirmities. And because of him we will be able to return to him and our Father in Heaven again.

May we study the scriptures, as Lehi did

May we be as Lehi, and search the scriptures, and find the blessings of the Lord therein.

"And after they had given thanks unto the God of Israel, my father, Lehi, took the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass, and he did search them from the beginning.

And he beheld that they did contain the five books of Moses, which gave an account of the creation of the world, and also of Adam and Eve, who were our first parents;

And also a record of the Jews from the beginning, even down to the commencement of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah;

And also the prophecies of the holy prophets, from the beginning, even down to the commencement of the reign of Zedekiah; and also many prophecies which have been spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah.

And it came to pass that my father, Lehi, also found upon the plates of brass a genealogy of his fathers; wherefore he knew that he was a descendant of Joseph; yea, even that Joseph who was the son of Jacob, who was sold into Egypt, and who was preserved by the hand of the Lord, that he might preserve his father, Jacob, and all his household from perishing with famine.

And they were also led out of captivity and out of the land of Egypt, by that same God who had preserved them.

And thus my father, Lehi, did discover the genealogy of his fathers. " (1 Nephi 5:10-16 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/5.10-16 )

"He Beheld his Glory again..."

May each of us be sons and daughters of God as was Moses. “And calling upon the name of God, he beheld his glory again, … and he heard a voice, saying: Blessed art thou, Moses, for I, the Almighty, have chosen thee, and thou shalt be made stronger than many waters; for they shall obey thy command as if thou wert God. “And lo, I am with thee, even unto the end of thy days; for thou shalt deliver my people from bondage, even Israel my chosen. “And it came to pass, … Moses cast his eyes and beheld the earth, yea, even all of it; and there was not a particle of it which he did not behold, discerning it by the spirit of God. … “And he beheld also the inhabitants thereof, and there was not a soul which he beheld not; … “And it came to pass that Moses called upon God, saying: Tell me, I pray thee, why these things are so, and by what thou madest them? “And behold, the glory of the Lord was upon Moses, … and [the Lord] talked with him face to face” (Moses 1:25–28, 30–31 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/pgp/moses/1.25-28,30-31 ).

President Eyring sees the Savior

Read President Eyring testify he has seen the Savior, Jesus Christ. "I am a witness of the Resurrection of the Lord as surely as if I had been there in the evening with the two disciples in the house on Emmaus road. I know that He lives as surely as did Joseph Smith when he saw the Father and the Son in the light of a brilliant morning in a grove of trees in Palmyra.

This is the true Church of Jesus Christ. Only in the priesthood keys held by President Thomas S. Monson is the power for us to be sealed in families to live forever with our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We will on the Day of Judgment stand before the Savior, face to face. It will be a time of joy for those who have drawn close to Him in His service in this life. It will be a joy to hear the words: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”19 I so testify as a witness of the risen Savior and our Redeemer in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."

The Love of the Savior for you

“…Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.” - John 21:17

"In this painting Christ is depicted in the role of the Good Shepherd. He holds firmly to the rod, representing the law of His Father. It symbolizes the commandments and teachings that help to keep us, his flock, safe.

Christ’s countenance expresses the mercy of the Atonement and the path back to our Father. If we should stray from the safety of His flock in this life, we know that our Shepherd will come find us if we call out to Him.

We have also been given the charge, like Peter, to help our Savior in the work of bringing salvation to His flock, to feed His sheep. We will have the chance to bring physical and spiritual nourishment to those that come across our way if we are willing to serve."

"To walk back into the presence of the Father..."

“Your endowment is, to receive all those ordinances in the house of the Lord, which are necessary for you, after you have departed this life, to enable you to walk back to the presence of the Father, … and gain your eternal exaltation.” Brigham Young in Discourses of Brigham Young, sel. John A. Widtsoe (1941), 416.

In temples we become connected to our families and to God forever, and when we go there we are able to feel of the presence of the Lord. The spirit in temples is stronger than in any other place on earth. While there we can perform sacred ordinances for our ancestors that are necessary for them to return to the presence of God. "my glory shall rest upon it; Yea, and my presence shall be there, for I will come into it, and all the pure in heart that shall come into it shall see God" (D & C 97:15-16 http://bit.ly/14GTNd6 )

"And they laughed him to scorn..."

Even in the face of Laughter, the Savior knew who he was, and took compassion even to the raising from the dead as with the Daughter of Jairus. "And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway...." (Luke 8:52-55 http://bit.ly/1iskKqE )

May we all have faith in the Savior, that he has power over all. And may we not revile others, just go about doing the work of the Lord by lifting others in their daily labors and cares of life.

"Bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven"

"Surely he hath borne our Griefs..."

The Savior is there to comfort us as we reach out to him in Faith, for he understands our trials. "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: ...Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows..." (Isaiah 53:3-4 http://bit.ly/1cObHfQ )

"Endued with power from on high"

The Savior said to the twelve and others after he was resurrected "behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high."(Luke 24:49) That is what happens every day in temples all across the world. Both the living and the dead are endowed with power against the adversary. The New Testament Church has been restored in our day, and the blessings will last for eternity.

The Last Supper, both accounts of the Sacrament

As we take the Sacrament, may we remember that it was the Savior himself that instituted the sacrament in remembrance of his sacrifice for us. May we remember that if we are willing to take upon us his name, his spirit will be with us. Below are both accounts of him instituting it, in the New Testament and in the Book of Mormon.

"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (Matthew 26:26-28 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/26.26-28 )

"And when the disciples had come with bread and wine, he took of the bread and brake and blessed it; and he gave unto the disciples and commanded that they should eat.

And when they had eaten and were filled, he commanded that they should give unto the multitude.

And when the multitude had eaten and were filled, he said unto the disciples: Behold there shall one be ordained among you, and to him will I give power that he shall break bread and bless it and give it unto the people of my church, unto all those who shall believe and be baptized in my name." More at 3 Nephi 18:3-11 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/18.3-11 )

"I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God..."

Jesus Christ is the center of our Faith. In his words "Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I am the life and the light of the world...verily, verily, I say unto you, that as many as receive me, to them will I give power to become the sons [and daughters] of God, even to them that believe on my name. Amen." (D & C 11:28, 30 http://bit.ly/GAbxQD )

May we all become the Sons and daughters of God, through relying on the Atonement of Jesus Christ.  He is the center of the plan of salvation, he is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the end.  His love was from before the foundations of the world, and will last forever into the eternities.  He is Jesus Christ, our all and all, and the Center of our Faith.

The Lord is my Shepherd

What wonderful promises are given with the analogy of the Lord as the Good Shepherd, and are worth reading. "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever." (Psalms 23 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/ot/ps/23 ).
