"Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God..."

And His name shall be called wonderful, counsellor, the mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. http://www.lds.org/scriptures/ot/isa/9.6

As Isaiah Prophecied, Christ came and gave to us a priceless gift. His life, and in so doing, saved all of ours. Because of him we can return home to our Father in Heaven again.

Pour your hearts out in gratitude to our Father in Heaven for the blessing of the Savior in your life. Let your Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ know how much you love them. Then, take a moment to wait and feel of the love they have for you. Then share that love with others. That kind of love changes you.

When Christ was born, the people in the American continent saw the star, and had another sign of his birth, a night of light, even though the sun had set. This was prophesied by prophets in the Americas. Read more by clicking here http://bit.ly/J8J59P

A Christmas Message-Still Time to Serve

How much have you been able to give to others and to the Savior this last year? As this year’s Christmas approaches, can you say that you have followed the Savior more this year, and have served others more? That is the true test of our discipleship.

Have we gone to the temple more, have we given more of ourselves, have we helped make others’ lives better? That is the true spirit of Christmas, and should impel us to be better all year through.

There is still time to serve. As the Prophet has said, “There are hearts to gladden. There are kind words to say. There are gifts to be given. There are deeds to be done. There are souls to be saved. “

So take some time. Think of those who are sad, lonely, need help and help them. Take an extra trip to the temple to help someone else return to the presence of the Father. Share the gospel in whatever way you can, and you will catch the true spirit of Christmas.

As the Prophet has said, you need only take off the last syllable of Christmas and it becomes the spirit of Christ.

May we live with that this Christmas season, and all year round.

When Christ was born, the people in the American continent saw the star, and had another sign of his birth, a night of light, even though the sun had set. This was prophesied by prophets in the Americas. Read more by clicking here http://bit.ly/J8J59P

"And there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus"- The Promised Savior about to be born

The Christmas story began long before the Savior's Birth. "And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Cæsar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed...And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judæa, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child" (Luke 2:1-5 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/luke/2.1-5… )
The Prophesied of Savior was about to be born.  He is the true reason for this Season.  Without him we wouldn't have Christmas.  We are the recipients of the priceless gift of his birth, life, ministry, atonement, death, and resurrection, and triumph over sin and death.  No more sacred events have ever been recorded than than these, both in the old world and the new.

This year, make a determination to study more of his life, to learn more of him, and to follow him.  He is real, and is active in our lives, more than we know.  Remember he is the God of the whole world, yet individual enough to touch our tender hearts.

When Christ was born, the people in the American continent saw the star, and had another sign of his birth, a night of light, even though the sun had set. This was prophesied by prophets in the Americas. Read more by clicking here http://bit.ly/J8J59P

Gratitude for all things, especially the Savior, Jesus Christ

At this time of year, may we remember President Monson's words, "to live with gratitude ever in our hearts is to touch heaven."

Gratitude is the most important thing we can have in our hearts. It gives us life and connects us with our Father in Heaven, and Savior Jesus Christ.

Here is what our leaders say about gratitude:
“He who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious” (D&C 78:19). Gratitude is an uplifting, exalting attitude. People are generally happier when they have gratitude in their hearts. We cannot be bitter, resentful, or mean-spirited when we are grateful.

We should be thankful for the wonderful blessings that are ours and for the tremendous opportunities we have. We can be thankful to our parents, family, friends, and teachers. We should express appreciation to everyone who has assisted us in any way.

We should thank our Heavenly Father for His goodness to us by acknowledging His hand in all things, thanking Him for all that He gives us, keeping His commandments, and serving others. We should especially thank Him for His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, for the Savior's great example, for His teachings, for His outreaching hand to lift and help, for His infinite Atonement."

At this time of year and always, may we ever remember to have gratitude in all things, and especially for our Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Divine Gift of Gratitude for the Savior, Jesus Christ

At this season, read what our prophet has said about Gratitude, including gratitude for the Savior:
"Sincerely giving thanks not only helps us recognize our blessings, but it also unlocks the doors of heaven and helps us feel God’s love...
to live with gratitude ever in our hearts is to touch heaven.
As I close this morning, it is my prayer that in addition to all else for which we are grateful, we may ever reflect our gratitude for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His glorious gospel provides answers to life’s greatest questions: Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where do our spirits go when we die? That gospel brings to those who live in darkness the light of divine truth.
He taught us how to pray. He taught us how to live. He taught us how to die. His life is a legacy of love. The sick He healed; the downtrodden He lifted; the sinner He saved.
Ultimately, He stood alone. Some Apostles doubted; one betrayed Him. The Roman soldiers pierced His side. The angry mob took His life. There yet rings from Golgotha’s hill His compassionate words: “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.”
Who was this “man of sorrows, … acquainted with grief”? “Who is this King of glory,” this Lord of lords? He is our Master. He is our Savior. He is the Son of God. He is the Author of Our Salvation. He beckons, “Follow me.” He instructs, “Go, and do thou likewise.” He pleads, “Keep my commandments.”
Let us follow Him. Let us emulate His example. Let us obey His words. By so doing, we give to Him the divine gift of gratitude.
My sincere, heartfelt prayer is that we may in our individual lives reflect that marvelous virtue of gratitude. May it permeate our very souls, now and evermore. In the sacred name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, amen." "men whose hearts swell with thanksgiving to God"

Elder Bednar on Prayers of Gratitude with the Brethren: "The most meaningful and spiritual prayers I have experienced contained many expressions of thanks and few, if any, requests. As I am blessed now to pray with apostles and prophets, I find among these modern-day leaders of the Savior’s Church the same characteristic that describes Captain Moroni in the Book of Mormon: these are men whose hearts swell with thanksgiving to God for the many privileges and blessings which He bestows upon His people (see Alma 48:12)."

The Miracle of the Holy Bible

Today is the International Day of the Bible. Listen to Elder Ballard's counsel on the Bible, and share it on Facebook and twitter with the hashtag #BibleCelebration

"My brothers and sisters, the Holy Bible is a miracle! It is a miracle that the Bible’s 4,000 years of sacred and secular history were recorded and preserved by the prophets, apostles, and inspired churchmen.

It is a miracle that we have the Bible’s powerful doctrine, principles, poetry, and stories. But most of all, it is a wonderful miracle that we have the account of the life, ministry, and words of Jesus, which was protected through the Dark Ages and through the conflicts of countless generations so that we may have it today.

It is a miracle that the Bible literally contains within its pages the converting, healing Spirit of Christ, which has turned men’s hearts for centuries, leading them to pray, to choose right paths, and to search to find their Savior.

The Holy Bible is well named. It is holy because it teaches truth, holy because it warms us with its spirit, holy because it teaches us to know God and understand His dealings with men, and holy because it testifies throughout its pages of the Lord Jesus Christ." I am the Resurrection and the Life...

Before the Savior raised Lazarus from the dead he said "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:" (John 11:25 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/11.25 )

We will all live again, and will have the chance to return to the presence of our Father in Heaven, if we will but turn to the Savior, he who is our Redeemer, our Advocate with the Father, and in whom is power over all things through love. May we ever come and follow him.

He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  His mercy endureth forever, as the scriptures say, and he will succor his children in their infirmities.  We can come to him and be healed of the effects of sin, of trials, of challenges, and in all the stresses of life.  May we ever rely on him in all we do.

Adam's Obedience - A lesson to us

Such a wonderful example of obedience is given when Adam offered Sacrifices to the Lord, and how wonderful was the Lord’s response to that; “And he gave unto them commandments, that they should worship the Lord their God, and should offer the firstlings of their flocks, for an offering unto the Lord. And Adam was obedient unto the commandments of the Lord.
And after many days an angel of the Lord appeared unto Adam, saying: Why dost thou offer sacrifices unto the Lord? And Adam said unto him: I know not, save the Lord commanded me.
And then the angel spake, saying: This thing is a similitude of the sacrifice of the Only Begotten of the Father, which is full of grace and truth.” (Moses 5:5-7 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/pgp/moses/5.5-7 )

May we all be as obedient as Adam, and be able to have the blessings of the Lord, and the peace it brings to our lives.  It will not only lead us to peace in this life, but to eternal life in the world to come.

Sermon on the Mount - The Beatitudes

So powerful is the Sermon on the Mount, yet so peaceful are the Beatitudes.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."
More from the sermon on the mount is athttps://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/5 and successive chapters.
May we take some time to read the powerful messages in the Sermon on the Mount, and reflect on the Love our Savior has for us, as shown in those words. He will ever be there for us as we turn to him.

The Promise of the Book of Mormon from Moroni

The Book of Mormon was meant for us, today. The Savior showed the prophets of the Book of Mormon our day, because he knew what we would need to know. Listen to Moroni: "Behold, the Lord hath shown unto me great and marvelous things concerning that which must shortly come, at that day when these things shall come forth among you. Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not. But behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me, and I know your doing" (Mormon 8:34-35 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/morm/8.34-35?lang=eng#33 )

Moroni also gave us the promise of the Book of Mormon, "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."

The Book of Mormon was kept and preserved, and hidden away by Moroni and revealed by God for us in our day. The Book of Mormon is not just another Book of Scripture. The word of God, as given from the Savior to his prophets, has been given to us so that it might speak the truth to generations seeking after the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Gethsemane

Please take a moment to read what the scriptures say about Gethsemane, and the price paid by the Savior: "And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground." (Luke 22:41-44 http://bit.ly/176nSVT )

If the Savior only had to pay the price for one, and that one person were you, he would still atone. May we ever be grateful that our loving, kind, sensitive Savior paid an infinite price for the sins of each of us. My heart is pained yet full of gratitude to know that my Brother, my Savior, my Redeemer paid the price for my sins. He still lives and loves each of us.

I am the Way...

"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6http://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/14.6 )

Only through the Savior, Jesus Christ, may we return to our heavenly home. He is real, is aware of each of us, and as President Monson has said, he is in the details of our lives.

May we all return to our Father in Heaven again by relying on the Atonement of the Savior, Jesus Christ, and here on earth may we feel of their love as we pour our hearts out in prayer and study the scriptures.

To Virtue add Knowledge

"And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;" (2 Peter 1:5 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/2-pet/1.5?lang=eng#4 ).

May we all add knowledge to virtue through prayerfully seeking the Lord and through prayerfully studying the scriptures. The spirit will help us remember the truths we knew before we came to this earth as we study in the scriptures, and will help us to return, pure and clean, to our Father in Heaven again after a lifetime of having the spirit touch our lives again, and again, and again.

Grace and Truth

Today's profound message comes from Simon Dewey, the artist of this painging, Grace and Truth:
"I love the Gospel of John. The opening verses of chapter one are at once poetic and sublime, simple yet profound:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God....In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” To each of us on this journey home, John’s powerful witness of the Savior remains a guide as we come to realize the reality of it for ourselves. “We beheld his glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” -Simon Dewey

May we all live worthy so that when we see the Savior, we will be able to behold his glory, and live in his presence again. He is the Life and the Light of men. And he is real, and involved in the details of our lives, and if we trust in him, he will lead us back to our heavenly home.

Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God

We are invited in scripture to "be convinced also that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God" (2 Nephi 26:12 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/26.12 )

All will come to the knowledge of the Savior, and confess he is the Christ, as is said in scripture:

"every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess, while they hear the sound of the trump, saying: Fear God, and give glory to him who sitteth upon the throne, forever and ever; for the hour of his judgment is come." (D&C 88:104 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/88.104 )

Come unto Christ, and be saved. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He is our Savior and Redeemer, and is called "Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace." Because of him we may return to the presence of the Father.

The Center of our Faith, the Light and Life of the World

Share your testimony of the Savior, for Jesus Christ is the center of our Faith. In his words "Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I am the life and the light of the world...verily, verily, I say unto you, that as many as receive me, to them will I give power to become the sons [and daughters] of God, even to them that believe on my name. Amen." (D & C 11:28, 30 http://bit.ly/GAbxQD )

May we all become the Sons and daughters of God, through relying on the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He is the center of the plan of salvation, he is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the end. His love was from before the foundations of the world, and will last forever into the eternities. He is Jesus Christ, our all and all, and the Center of our Faith.

The Road to Emmaus

The message and scripture is from the artist of this painting, Liz Lemon Swindle.

"Three days after the Savior´s death, two of His disciples walked the dusty road from Jerusalem to Emmaus. As they spoke, they were joined by a traveler who asked about their conversation. The disciples replied, "Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem...they have crucified [Jesus]. But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel."

Then the stranger said, "Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?" He then opened the scriptures to them, showing how all of the prophets had testified that Christ would be crucified and rise on the third day. As night fell the disciples asked the traveler to join them for a meal. Sitting together the stranger, "...took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew...[it was Jesus]." - Luke 24:17-32

We are often like the disciples. We let the worries of the day keep us from recognizing that the Savior is walking alongside us. We are quick to treat our trials as curses, instead of trusting that with God´s perspective our "curses" may actually be blessings. May we be more willing to wait upon the Lord, and may we see things as they really are as we walk our own roads to Emmaus."

Welcome to our Heavenly Home

Can we imagine at the end of our lives, being welcomed back to our heavenly home, into the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ, to dwell with him and our Father in Heaven together with our families forever? To feel of our Savior's love as he embraces us. May he say unto us, as in the parable of the talents;

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (Matthew 25:23 http://bit.ly/15yZetf )

And in the Book of Mormon "Yea, verily I say unto you, if ye will come unto me ye shall have eternal life. Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I receive; and blessed are those who come unto me " (3 Nephi 9:14 http://bit.ly/17A6NCE )

Keep the Commandments, serve others, strive to become more like the Savior, and rely on the grace of Christ all along the way, and you will return home.  Remember, the price has already been paid.

The Lord is my Shepherd

What wonderful promises are given with the analogy of the Lord as the Good Shepherd, and are worth reading. "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever." (Psalms 23 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/ot/ps/23 ).

The Creator of all Things from the Beginning

"And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning;" (Mosiah 3:8 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/3.8 )

The Savior, under the direction of the Father, created this earth, and has been at the center of the plan of salvation since before the beginning of the earth, and will forever into the eternities.

The Savior is over all, and holds the keys to our salvation. May we come to him and find peace both in this life and in the world to come.

"Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God..."

We are invited in scripture to "be convinced also that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God" (2 Nephi 26:12https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/26.12 )

"Neither do I condemn thee..."

When the woman taken in adultery was brought to Jesus by the Pharisees, he didn't condemn her, he simply said "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." At this moment, through the spirit, each person there was pricked in their hearts with the sins they had commmitted.

When they left, the Savior turned to the woman and said words that undoubtedly must have given peace to the woman "Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."

May we all be slow to judge, slow to condemn others. For as we do that, we will love others as the Savior would love them.

We also remember Isaiah's words "though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
