Give all for the Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave all for us

Our Savior gave all for us.  What would we do for him and for others?  Our goals, our hopes, our desires, and our actions should be pointed to the Living Christ, to team with him in the work of Salvation.  For he sacrificed all, and he still lives to lift his children!  From the apostles "Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God...He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come."

And from the Prophet Joseph Smith "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father— That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God."

Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World is real. As our prophet has said, he is involved in the details of our lives and is there for us if we reach out to him. We can know for ourselves that he is real, and that he loves us if we will ask our Father in Heaven in Christ's name. Christ's church has been restored to the earth, with all of the blessings from previous Biblical times. The Gospel, once lost, has been restored by the Power of God for our times.

May we ever remember that, and show our gratitude by serving others, thus teaming up with Christ for the benefit of others.  Our Prophet has said that each of us have a "mandate to serve."  When we lift the burdens of others, it is as if we lift the burdens of Christ himself.  Think of that.  How do you want to help Christ today?

From a child "You need to pray to Jesus to help you"

"learn of me, and be meek and lowly of heart"  May we all be as little children, and learn of the Savior, trusting him and placing our faith solely in him.

How often do we trust our Father in Heaven as little children trust their parents?  One time when I was having a hard time, my 5 year-old daughter came up to me and trustingly said "You need to pray to Jesus to help you."  What a powerful lesson that as we trust our Savior, and become as little children, we will be able to feel of God's love more fully in our lives.

May we ever do that.

Marriage ordained from Before The Foundations of the World

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints acknowledges that following today's ruling by the Supreme Court, same-sex marriages are now legal in the United States. The Court's decision does not alter the Lord's doctrine that marriage is a union between a man and a woman ordained by God. While showing respect for those who think differently, the Church will continue to teach and promote marriage between a man and a woman as a central part of our doctrine and practice." (Supreme Court Decision Will Not Alter Doctrine on Marriage, online at http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/supreme-court-decision-will-not-alter-doctrine-on-marriage )

The Church has outlined its doctrine and position on marriage in the document The Divine Institution of Marriage available at http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/the-divine-institution-of-marriage

The above statement shows our Church has the courage to stand strong against the tide of opposition in the world.  They will ever do so.  May each of us have the courage to stand strong for our convictions and our faith.  For marriage between a man and a woman was ordained from before the foundations of the world, and extends into the eternities and beyond, and is at the core of our Father in Heaven's plan for his children.

May we ever be courageous in our defense of the truth, even as we are compassionate to those who do not share our beliefs.

How can we "Go ye therefore and teach all nations?"

Before the Savior ascended to heaven, just outside of Jerusalem, he told the New Testament apostles "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:19-20 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/28.19 )

The Lord has not rescinded this commandment.  In our modern day, Apostles and Prophets spread the gospel, but they need our help.

Do we share the gospel with our friends on social media, or through being a good example?  Do we serve others so that their hearts may be softened to the gospel?

Do we show love to those who are not of our faith, so that they may want what we have in the gospel?

As the Doctrine and Covenants say, if we just bring one soul to the Father, how great will be our rejoicing with them in the kingdom of the Father.  One soul is precious.  But one soul turns into many with their posterity, and their ancestors (as they do family history and temple work).

It is as in the story related by President Packer when he was told by President Kimball.  President Kimball told Elder Packer "you were holding a nation on your lap" when he related a story about holding a little deprived child (https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2012/04/and-a-little-child-shall-lead-them).

When we share the gospel with others, it plants seeds that may be harvested later.  In doing that, we are helping bring "a nation" to the gospel.  And it is the sweetest joy you can experience.

May we ever be involved in doing that by overcoming our fears to share the gospel, and having Faith in the Lord.  Prayerfully make him a part of what we share with others, and watch the seeds be planted.

The Ordinances of the Temple spoken of in the New Testament

“Your endowment is, to receive all those ordinances in the house of the Lord, which are necessary for you, after you have departed this life, to enable you to walk back to the presence of the Father, … and gain your eternal exaltation.” Brigham Young in Discourses of Brigham Young, sel. John A. Widtsoe (1941), 416.

The Endowment is spoken of in the New Testament, where the Savior, after he was resurrected and before sending the apostles out to teach, said to "tarry ye at Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high." (Luke 24:49 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/luke/24.49 )

And there are the sealing ordinances there, too.  After Peter declared that Jesus was the Christ, The Savior said to him "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:19 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/16.19 )

That is what happens in Temples. This power to bind on earth and in heaven was restored to the prophet Joseph Smith and recorded in the Doctrine and covenants multiple times (D&C 127:7, D&C 124:93, D&C 132:46, D&C 128).

Additionally, the baptisms for the Dead were spoken by Paul, who said "Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all?  why are they then baptized for the dead?"  (1 Corinthians 15:29 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/1-cor/15.29).  In this modern era, this ordinance is done as it was done in the New Testament church, so that our ancestors who never heard the gospel, or those who never heard of Christ can return to the presence of the Lord.  For the Savior said all must be baptized in John 3:5, when he said "except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven." (https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/3.5 ).

Because of the miracle of the Restoration of the Gospel, the sacred temple ordinances the Savior established in New Testament times have been restored to this earth to bless our Father in Heaven's children. With the miracle of temple work, all of Father in Heaven's children who have ever lived on the earth, and who would have accepted it if they were alive, will be able to have the opportunity to accept or reject those blessings, and inherit all that our Father in Heaven has. And these blessings were spoken of in the Bible.

And for us, when we go to the temple to do the work of our dead, we are able to feel of God's presence. The Doctrine and Covenants states "my glory shall rest upon it; Yea, and my presence shall be there, for I will come into it., and all the pure in heart shall see God" (D & C 97:15-16 http://bit.ly/14GTNd6 )

The spirit in temples is stronger than in any other place on earth. While there we can perform sacred ordinances for our ancestors that are necessary for them to return to the presence of God. Find out more about temples by going to http://www.lds.org/church/temples

The Life of the Living Savior, Jesus Christ

Over 2 millenia ago, a tiny baby was born into the most humble of circumstances. This royal son, the only begotten of the Father, was not clothed in silken robes, but was wrapped in swaddling clothes, and laid in a manger. He was prophecied of by many ancient prophets. He was the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Truly unto us a child was born, and the Government of Heaven and earth was upon his shoulders. His name truly is Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

Of his kingdom there is no end, for his coming into the world had been planned from before the foundations of the world, and the effects of his life will give life to all of humankind and will stretch into the eternities and beyond.

But his life was not to be easy. He taught with power, performed miracles, and showed the love of God to all he met. Yet the Pharisees and Saduccees, instead of accepting him as the promised Messiah, said his miracles were done by the power of the Devil.

But this was foretold as well. As Isaiah says, he was despised, rejected, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief…surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows…and with his stripes we are healed.

Betrayed by his own, abandoned by all, he faced the indescribable agony of the atonement, where his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling to the ground. Then he faced the abuse of the Jewish leaders, the flogging of the Roman troops, and yet meekly he still succumbed to the horrors of crucifixion.

He was laid to rest in a borrowed tomb. During that time he went to his father, and to the world of the Spirits of the just. He organized his work there, that others might know of the good news of his triumph over sin and death.

After 3 days, the prison doors were rent, and he became the firstfruits of them that slept. Angels rolled back the door of the tomb, and reported he is not here, he is risen, and beckoned all who came to the tomb to come and see the place where the Lord lay.

He appeared to many, apostles and disciples alike, and then went to visit the other sheep in his fold, the people of the Americas and other places. Prophets in those places had testified of his coming and death, had seen in vision what the Savior, the fulfillment of prophecy, would do.

He taught them his gospel, and organized his church there, with all of the saving ordinances that he brought to the old world, and then ascended into heaven.

This once tiny baby still lives today as the Savior and Redeemer of the World. And he has restored his gospel, once lost for millennia, to the earth today. The lord whom ye seek has suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant.

Prophecies are again being fulfilled at his hand, inspiring the minds and hearts of men and women all over the world. His greatest desire is to draw men to him so that they might feel of the love of God that emanates from him. That each person on the face of the earth might feel of his love through the spirit. The fullness of his New Testament Gospel is again on the Earth, to bless the lives of all who come unto him. And it touches each individual heart with the tenderness of a God who is aware of each of us, and involved in our lives more than we know, but can if we open our hearts to him, and do his work.

He said to Peter that if he loved him to feed his sheep. There are many out there who need the bread and water of life. As the prophet says, we are God’s hands on earth, with a mandate to serve. As we serve others, they are able to feel of the love of God as well. It softens them.

This is one of the keys that Christ knew, and was willing to give his life for. He tirelessly served others, and as we serve others too, we will come to know this great key to happiness in this life and in the next. And we will become like Christ as we do.

When we meet him face to face, how wonderful a time that will be for us as we see that we have become like him. To embrace him and to join with him in rejoicing as we realize that we have been dependent upon him our whole lives, and his power has lifted us, and will for eternity.

And how wonderful it will be to know that those whose lives we have touched will also be able to dwell with the Savior and us again. That is the secret of life. To become connected to those around us, bound together by the Love of the Savior.

That is just a few parts of what the birth of the Savior means to us.

Enter into the joy of thy Lord-God shall wipe away all tears

May we all look forward to that day, after a life of service, when we enter the Kingdom of God.  “Well done, thou good and faithful servant...enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matthew 25:21 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/25.21 ).

The scriptures further teach “For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” (Revelations 7:17 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/rev/7.17 ).

May we seek out the Savior, and follow him, so that we may have peace in this life, and at the end, be welcomed by his warm embrace into the kingdom of the Father.

The Beatitudes - Peaceful words of comfort for saints in a troubled world

As we become more like the Savior, we are able to take such comfort in such scriptures as the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the mount:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.  Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.  Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you ( Matthew 5:3-12 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/5.3-12 )

The Lord's Prayer, his prayer in the Americas, and our prayers

The Savior prayed on two occasions the following: "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." (3 Nephi 13:9-13, also in Matthew 6:9-13 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/13.9-13 , https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/6 ).

Additionally, the prayers the Savior prayed in the new world, when he appeared to the peoples of the Americas could not be uttered.  Here is the account:

"And no tongue can speak, neither can there be written by any man, neither can the hearts of men conceive so great and marvelous things as we both saw and heard Jesus speak; and no one can conceive of the joy which filled our souls at the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father." (3 Nephi 17:17 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/17.17 )

How often are we nourished and fed through our prayers?  We can often feel of the spirit of the Lord as we pour out our hearts and let the Lord know of our pains, our deepest righteous desires, and he will send the spirit to comfort, strengthen, and lift us.

May we all pray to our Father in Heaven, in the name of Christ, and be able to feel of their love for us.

Christ's Baptism and our Baptism

What a sacred experience when the Savior was baptized by John, who had authority.  There in the presence of all members of the Godhead.  "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:13-17 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/3.13-17 )

Just as the Savior was baptized "To fulfill all righteousness," and to obey the laws of God, so we are baptized, by one having authority in the Restored Church, and from then on, take upon us his name, and be an example to all we meet of the Savior.  Even though we are imperfect, we can still be examples of Christ, and give Christlike service to others.

If we do, we will have the spirit to be with us, for at baptism we are also given the gift of the Holy Ghost through the laying on of hands.  What a sacred gift from our Father in Heaven to have as a constant companion.

Christ appears in the Americas after his Resurrection

"And behold, the third time they did understand the voice which they heard; and it said unto them: Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him.

And it came to pass, as they understood they cast their eyes up again towards heaven; and behold, they saw a Man descending out of heaven; and he was clothed in a white robe; and he came down and stood in the midst of them

And it came to pass that he stretched forth his hand and spake unto the people, saying:

Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.

And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning (3 Nephi 11:6-8 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/11.6-8 )

These passages bring such peace, as we read the Savior's words as he taught his New Testament Gospel to the Saints in the Americas, healed their sick, and blessed them and their children.  May we all be grateful for the gift of the Book of Mormon in our own lives and study the words of Christ in its pages, along with the Bible.

The Sacred Record passes from immortal to mortal hands

After 4 years of preparation, Joseph obtains the plates from Moroni, and the sacred record passes from immortal to mortal hands for translation.  "On the twenty-second day of September, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-seven, having gone as usual at the end of another year to the place where they were deposited, the same heavenly messenger delivered them up to me with this charge: that I should be responsible for them...if I would use all my endeavors to preserve them, until he, the messenger, should call for them, they should be protected" (https://www.lds.org/scriptures/pgp/js-h/1.59 )

The translation of the Book of Mormon was a miracle.  A boy with a third grade education who couldn't spell was the instrument through which God translated the Book of Mormon from the Gold plates.  On occasion during translating, Joseph and his scribes were often in the presence of Glorified Beings, as reported in historical accounts.  God was instrumental in the translation, and in 60 short days, the transcript was ready for publishing.

A total of 12 people were permitted to see the plates and handle them, and 3 of those people were shown those plates by an angel of the Lord.  This angel was a resurrected, Glorified messenger from God.  Only an angel from God could hold the plates as described by the three witnesses.

Read the testimony of these three witnesses online at https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/three and then after that click "next" to read the testimony of 8 witnesses.

The Prophet Joseph and The Standard of Truth

Our Savior, Jesus Christ is the author of this great Latter-Day Work, restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith.  The Prophet Joseph had revealed to him the following- “The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing, persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny many defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited very clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.”
(Quote is The Standard of Truth by Joseph Smith Jr., History of the Church, 4:540 quoted in "The Truth of God Shall Go Forth," Elder Ballard October 2008 General Conference http://www.lds.org/general-conference/2008/10/the-truth-of-god-shall-go-forth )

We live in a time where many tell false things about the restored church, and it is mocked and ridiculed both by other churches and the media.  Yet it still continues to bring converts, because the true seekers after truth will find it.  It will just continue to grow, one by one, testimony by testimony.

This gospel will never again be taken from the earth.  It will just continue to grow through the millenium, when Christ himself comes to rule and reign.  He today stands at the head of this church which bears his name, and yet is personal enough to be able to touch each of our lives individually through the spirit.

May we ever be grateful for what the Lord accomplished through the Prophet Joseph Smith.  Because of that, we have blessings that ages of people yearned for, but could never find, but will have the opportunity to accept.

And both we and they will be able to return to the presence of the Lord, to dwell with him and our Father in Heaven and our families forever.  To be able to do his work, and to inherit all that he has is the blessing extended to all who seek after him.

Seek Christ.  Find him.  And devote your lives to him.

The beginning of the Restoration of Christ's Church on the earth

After retiring to the woods to ask God which church was right, the following happened- In Joseph's words "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!"

Joseph Smith saw God the Father and his son, Jesus Christ, and was the instrument through which God restored the same New Testament church to the earth again in its purity, once lost through Apostasy. The Woman at the Well and Us

Said the Savior to the woman at the well; "Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

The Savior and the woman speak some more, and later..."The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.  Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he."

Such a wonderful passage.  The Savior declared that he was the promised Messiah, and then fulfilled all of the Biblical prophecies.  He lived a sinless life, taught his gospel, atoned for our sins, and rose from the dead so all may.  The Savior still lives, and is real.  He is the promised Messiah, and still works today for our Salvation.  He will ever comfort us, and as President Monson has said, he is in the details of our lives.

May we, as the woman at the well, have the Savior declare himself to us, only for us it is through the spirit.  That way we can know that he lives, and loves us.

The Comforter-as if the Savior were there

When we have the holy ghost, or the comforter, it is as if the Savior were there with us.  "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;" (John 14:16 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/14.16 ) .

How many times when we have hard times would we love to have the Savior there, beside us, comforting us, strengthening us, and helping us in every way.  Through the spirit and with the power of prayer, it can be that way.

May we ever turn to the Savior of all in all things, in sickness and in health, good times and bad, and feel of his comforting influence.

"At the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father"

How must the Savior pray for us? What marvelous things he must ask the Father for on our behalf? And how can we do the same?  An example of the Savior praying is below:

"And when he had said these words, he himself also knelt upon the earth; and behold he prayed unto the Father, and the things which he prayed cannot be written, and the multitude did bear record who heard him. And after this manner do they bear record: The eye hath never seen, neither hath the ear heard, before, so great and marvelous things as we saw and heard Jesus speak unto the Father; And no tongue can speak, neither can there be written by any man, neither can the hearts of men conceive so great and marvelous things as we both saw and heard Jesus speak; and no one can conceive of the joy which filled our souls at the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father" (3 Nephi 17:15-17 http://bit.ly/180Iu2k ).

The Savior is our advocate with the Father, and the blessings that await us as we turn to him in prayer are just waiting to be poured out upon us, so that our "cup runneth over," both in this life, and in the life to come.

Serve others, pour out your heart in prayer, and pray about not just yourself, but pray for those around you, for they are God's children as well.  And then act and serve others.  If you will do this, you will find that you are more a part of the Father's plan, and will be following the example of the Savior.  And you will be able to feel a power of the spirit, and be able to feel of the abundant blessings of the Lord upon you, as our leaders have said.

The Living Christ-The Messiah of the New Testament

"He was the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament, the Messiah of the New. Under the direction of His Father, He was the creator of the earth. “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3). Though sinless, He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38), yet was despised for it. His gospel was a message of peace and goodwill. He entreated all to follow His example. He walked the roads of Palestine, healing the sick, causing the blind to see, and raising the dead. He taught the truths of eternity, the reality of our premortal existence, the purpose of our life on earth, and the potential for the sons and daughters of God in the life to come." (The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles.  Learn more about Christ at  http://bit.ly/1bAqOhI )

As stated by his special witnesses, The Savior, Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the World, who taught the truths of eternity, and continues to do so through apostles and prophets.  He is there for us as we turn to him.  May we ever be grateful for him.

Do we truly know the love of the Savior?  Do we truly know who we are, as sons and daughters of God, and joint-heirs with Christ?  Do we realize the potential we have because of the atonement of Christ?  And do we reach out to our Father in Heaven in prayer, in the name of Christ?  Do we find rest in him and peace in him?  And do we know that all of what we receive is because of Christ?  May we ever remember that.

"Ye shall find rest unto your souls" - The Gentle Christ

"Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:29-30 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/11.29-30 ).

May we all come to know the love of the Savior of our souls, have him take our burdens, and in him find rest.  He descended below all things in the Garden and on the cross so that he would have the gentleness and compassion to comfort and lift us in our trials.  He is the gentle Christ.

As you pray to our Father in Heaven, I hope you take the time to thank him for the gift of his only begotten son, our loving Savior, and let the Father know how much you love him and the Savior.  Then take a moment to feel of the Love he has for you, the love which changes all.

You will never be the same again.

Picture is The Gentle Christ by Del Parson.  It was originally commissioned by Elder David B. Haight, former member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, who wanted Del to paint Christ with somewhat of a gentler look, because he felt it was more representative of Christ and the love that comes from him.

The Love of Christ, our dear Savior, is just a prayer away

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  (http://bit.ly/12NHwk2) Of this truth the Savior said to Peter "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (http://bit.ly/16y1Yey)

The Savior loves us with a love we cannot comprehend.  He descended below all things so that we may return back to him and our Father in Heaven again with our families.  He will ever be there for us to strengthen us, lift us, and comfort us, and to bind us together in love.

May we all take the time to pour our hearts out in gratitude to our Father in Heaven for the gift of his only begotten son, and take a moment afterwards to wait for the Lord's response through the spirit.  Take a moment for him to impress upon you just how much he loves you.  He is real and is the source of that love.

Then, may we love others as the Savior would have us do.

The Sacred Sacrament each Sacred Sunday

Remember to keep the Sabbath day holy, especially by partaking of the Sacrament.  It is as if the Savior himself were giving the Sacrament to us when we take of it.  For those who administer those sacred emblems do so in his place.  The Savior himself instituted the sacrament in remembrance of his sacrifice for us.

May we remember that if we are willing to take upon us his name, to comfort those in need of comfort, to lift others, his spirit will be with us.  Below are both accounts of him instituting it, in the New Testament and in the Book of Mormon.

"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins."  (Matthew 26:26-28 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/26.26-28

And in the Book of Mormon:

"And when the disciples had come with bread and wine, he took of the bread and brake and blessed it; and he gave unto the disciples and commanded that they should eat.

And when they had eaten and were filled, he commanded that they should give unto the multitude.

And when the multitude had eaten and were filled, he said unto the disciples: Behold there shall one be ordained among you, and to him will I give power that he shall break bread and bless it and give it unto the people of my church, unto all those who shall believe and be baptized in my name."  More at 3 Nephi 18:3-11 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/18.3-11 )

"Our Lord and Savior is the living witness that such is so..."

"'Linger, O blessed Redeemer!
Leave me alone no more,
And with joy I shall make the blest harbor
And rest on the blissful shore...'
Through tears and trials, through fears and sorrows, through the heartache and loneliness of losing loved ones, there is assurance that life is everlasting. Our Lord and Savior is the living witness that such is so. His words in holy writ are sufficient: “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). I testify to this truth." (President Thomas S Monson, Peace, Be Still, First Presidency Message.   https://www.lds.org/liahona/2013/03/peace-be-still ).

"Come unto Christ, and be perfected in Him"

“Come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness” (Moroni 10:32)
As you act on the invitation to come unto Christ, you will come to understand your sacred duty to “invite all to come unto Christ” (D&C 20:59) as well. (Brent Borup)

The Savior beckons all of us to come, follow him.  Elder Talmage calls it "the grandest outpouring of spiritual emotion" because the Savior is pleading with us to follow him because he knows it is the only way to happiness in this life and the world to come.

He also knows all the pains we would ever go through, because he has experienced it, and longs to lift our burdens through his atoning sacrifice.

This is a loving, pleading Savior, who longs to bless us, to lift us, to comfort us, and to dwell with us.

May we ever remember that.

"I am the bread of life..."

The Savior truly is the living bread and water of life.  "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst" (John 6:35 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/6.35 )

The words of Christ are more important than the very food we eat. We are wholly dependent upon the Savior for all we are and have.  He is there for us every moment of every day.  His power is what sustains us.  May we be grateful for the spiritual and physical "bread of life" that he provides us to sustain us.

Reach out in prayer, and be sustained in all that you do, and in all of your righteous desires.  Our loving Father will help us as we turn to him in the name of Christ.

We are Sacred Children of a Loving Father in Heaven

We are our Father in Heaven's little children.  "Little children seem to have an inborn goodness; a simple faith and natural desire to be taught and to walk in His light...It is a light that warms their hearts and lets them know that they are loved and always in His sight."  Quote by Greg Olsen.

The Savior has said "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." (Mark 10:14 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/mark/10.14 ).

We are all children of a loving Father in Heaven, and as we turn to our Savior, and trust in him, he will ever comfort and strengthen us in our trials in life.  He will lift our souls, and soothe our troubled hearts.  For we are his children.

May we ever remember that.

The Comfort of the Savior-"Surely he hath borne our griefs"

The Savior is there to comfort us as we reach out to him in Faith, for he understands our trials. "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: ...Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows..." (Isaiah 53:3-4 http://bit.ly/1cObHfQ )

The Savior went through the agony of Gethsemane, and the horrors of the Cross so that he would better be able to comfort and succor us in our trials, afflictions, pains, and suffering in this life. As one who knows where we have been, he can lift us higher.

He knows each of us intimately, and with a love that we cannot comprehend, but it changes us when we feel of it as we pour out our hearts in prayer, and as we serve others.

May our hearts be drawn out in gratitude for the Loving, Kind Savior who descended below all things so he could lift all things. He is our Savior, Redeemer, and our all.

The Mount of Transfiguration - Christ and the Apostles

"And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.

And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.

And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead." (Mark 9:2-9 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/mark/9 )

Additionally, we are told in scripture elsewhere that Peter James and John heard the voice of the Father saying that "This is my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, hear ye him."

Additionally, Joseph Smith taught that the Mount of Transfiguration is where Moses, Elias, and Christ gave Peter, James and John the Keys to the Kingdom of God on this earth, keys they transferred to Joseph Smith in our modern era.  (https://www.lds.org/scriptures/gs/transfiguration.p4)

Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  We are told in scripture elsewhere that when Christ was on the Mount of Transfiguration, that he spoke with Moses and Elias about the sacrifice which he would "accomplish." On the mount was a preparation for the atonement which Christ knew would come.

May we ever be grateful to him, and seek him out as we go to the temple, where we may have marvellous experiences, even so sacred we do not speak of them openly.

The Living Christ, The Savior and Redeemer of the World

"Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God...He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come." (Read more at http://bit.ly/1bAqOhI From The Living Christ, The Testimony of the Apostles ).

Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World is real. He is involved in the details of our lives and is there for us if we reach out to him. We can know for ourselves that he is real, and that he loves us if we will ask our Father in Heaven in Christ's name.  The Love of the Savior is only a prayer away, as we pour out our hearts to our Father in Heaven in prayer.

Christ's church has been restored to the earth, with all of the blessings from previous Biblical times. The Gospel, once lost, has been restored by the Power of God for our times.   To find out more about this restoration, read online at http://bit.ly/1cbX4GK
