The Great I Am, even Jesus Christ-the Light and the Life

"Hearken and listen to the voice of him who is from all eternity to all eternity, the Great I Am, even Jesus Christ—The light and the life of the world; a light which shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not."

As the Savior followed the Father in all things, even to Gethsemane and Golgotha, may we similarly follow the Savior in all things we may be called to go through, and to have the spirit to be with us for time, and to live in the presence of God and the Lamb for all eternity.

That way, as the Savior does, we will be facing eternity.

"And Behold the Heavens were opened"

When the Savior asked the twelve apostles in the Americas what their greatest desire was, there were three of them who did not dare speak of what they desired, and the Savior, knowing their thoughts said unto them. "Behold, I know your thoughts, and ye have desired the thing which John, my beloved, who was with me in my ministry, before that I was lifted up by the Jews, desired of me.

Therefore, more blessed are ye, for ye shall never taste of death; but ye shall live to behold all the doings of the Father unto the children of men, even until all things shall be fulfilled according to the will of the Father, when I shall come in my glory with the powers of heaven.

And ye shall never endure the pains of death; but when I shall come in my glory ye shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye from mortality to immortality; and then shall ye be blessed in the kingdom of my Father..."

"And behold, the heavens were opened, and they were caught up into heaven, and saw and heard unspeakable things..."

"But it came to pass that they did again minister upon the face of the earth" (3 Nephi 28 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/28 )

I urge you to read in 3 Nephi 28. These three are still on the earth, ministering to those here and assisting in the Gathering of Israel as translated beings who are solely focused on the work of the Lord, the immortality and eternal life of man.

One day, if we live worthy in this life, we may inherit all that these three will inherit, that is all our Father in Heaven has.  May we be valiant as these.

Unto us a Child is Born...whose work goes on

It all started with a tiny baby.  "unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6).

Over 2000 years ago, the Savior of the World was born in a humble stable, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. His coming had been prophesied of by Isaiah and many other prophets.

The Savior came, as Isaiah also said, "to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound," (Isaiah 61:1) and he did that for both the living and the dead.

This great latter-day work goes on still, for the living and the dead through missionary work, strengthening the members, and through the work of the dead in temples. This work will go on until, as the Standard of truth says, "The Great Jehovah shall say the work is done."

At that time, the work begun from before the foundations of the world will be complete, and the Sons and Daughters of God will dwell with him forever.

Become engaged in serving others, and in the work of the Lord. At this Christmas season and always, may we ever seek out the Babe in Bethlehem, our Savior, Our Redeemer, our all.

When Christ was born, the people in the American continent saw the star, and had another sign of his birth, a night of light, even though the sun had set. This was prophesied by prophets in the Americas. Read more by clicking here http://bit.ly/J8J59P

The Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." -Isaiah 9:6

What wonderful words from the Prophet.  Each name applied to the Savior helps to better describe our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.  This child born to us, this son given, is the Savior of the World.

He is real, and is a resurrected, perfect, compassionate, and caring God.  His love is infinite and is from before the beginnings of the world, and extends into the eternities and beyond.

May we learn of him, as the scripture says, and follow him, and do his work by serving others, as another scripture says, and we will find a happiness unlike any we have ever had in our lives.

Inviting the Savior in - Come unto Me...

Do we invite the Savior into our homes, into our thoughts, and into our lives?  Do we turn off the distractions and invite the spirit in?  Do we turn off tv, music, internet sites, and other media with questionable content, and spend time serving others, studying about the Savior, and inviting the spirit of the Lord into our homes?  Do we find rest in the Savior?

The Savior yearns for us to do so, and pleads for us to.  As Elder Talmage said, "His invitation is one of the grandest outpourings of spiritual emotion known to man: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."  (Jesus the Christ, Quoting Matthew 11:28-30 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/11.28-30 ).

May we all invite the Savior into our lives through our thoughts, prayers, and most of all, actions.

The Way of Joy-The Way of Christ

"These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full."  (John 15:11 http://bit.ly/HVS9OX ).  May we all find the Joy the Savior offers, that his joy may remain in us.

Have we experienced that joy that is beyond compare, that joy which transforms us and lifts us?  Have we sought out the
Savior, and sought out his word in the scriptures, so that through the spirit, we are made better through his grace?

He will ever be with us, and as our Prophet has said, He is in the details of our lives.  May we seek out the Savior and experience that joy inexpressible which fills our empty cup to overflowing.

And as we continue to follow him, that love will abide with us forever.

I witness that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World

From an apostle of the Lord, one who has seen the Resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ.  "I witness that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. He suffered and died for our sins and rose the third day. He is resurrected. In a future day, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is the Christ. On that day, our concern will not be, 'Do others consider me Christian?' At that time, our eyes will be fixed on Him, and our souls will be riveted on the question, 'What thinks Christ of me?'"  —Neil L. Andersen, "What Thinks Christ of Me?", Liahona and Ensign, May 2012.  (https://www.lds.org/ensign/2012/05/what-thinks-christ-of-me ).

When you meet the Savior at that day, what will he think of you?  Have you turned to him in all things?  Have you served others?  Have you poured out your heart to God so that through the power of the atonement, your trials and sins may be lifted from you?  May we all be prepared at that last day, and follow Christ in all things.

Do you love the Savior, and want to know him? Along with the Bible, his words are in the Book of Mormon. Find out for yourself and read the Promise of the Book of Mormon online now at http://bit.ly/10t8QYm and pray about its truth.  You may also get a free copy at http://bit.ly/11WKJ1G

Religious Liberty-A Call to all Religions

At the end of his presidency, George Washington Stated "I consider it an indispensable duty to close this last solemn act of my Official life, by commending the Interests of our dearest Country to the protection of Almighty God, and those who have the superintendence of them, to his holy keeping."

Shortly after the time of Christ, there were many Christians who suffered death for being Christians.  These Christian Martyrs, our founding fathers, and God look down upon us now, from the other side of the veil, and if they could speak to us now, I believe one thing they would tell us is to stand strong for what we believe, and to stand strong for Religious Liberty.

We live in a time where religious liberty is being threatened in America.  An Obama aide stated, and was confirmed by a Supreme Court justice, that what is at stake with the Supreme Court's decision on whether states can decide whether or not to define Marriage, is the Tax-Exempt Status of Religions.  Additionally, a popular political candidate has called for religions to change what they teach to be more in line with the government.

From the document "The Family-A proclamation to the World" we read "The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ."

This government is trying to force religions to teach principles that run contrary to their beliefs as established by God.

This runs against what our Forefathers believed, which is that this nation was established by the intervention of God.  These Forefathers pledged their lives and their sacred honor to guarantee, among other rights, the God-Given right to be free to worship according to the dictates of their own conscience.

Part of Amendment 1 of the Bill of Rights states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"

The reason our forefathers established this was to escape the forced religion of England.  They knew by experience the problems that happen when Governments interfere with Religion.  Many of our Forefathers were strong believers in God, and they often stated that his hand organized this Country to be a place where we could be free to worship him as we please.

Here is a powerful statement on Religious Liberty: "Freedom of religion is a fundamental human right that protects the conscience of all people. It allows us to think, express and act upon what we deeply believe. But around the world, and in the United States, this freedom is eroding. Churches, religious organizations and individuals face increasing restrictions as they participate in the public square, express their beliefs or serve in society. But there is much good that Church members and people of goodwill can do to preserve and strengthen religious freedom."

The time has come in this Country for people of faith to set aside their theological differences, and come together to fight for the freedom to worship as we please.  We need to take up the banner of Religious Freedom, and display it for all around us to see.  We need to get involved in influencing our leaders to safeguard this most essential of God-Given rights.

Search your heart, and realize that the great changes that happened in the history of the world started with just one person becoming involved.  Each of us has the power to be a catalyst for good, and to stand strong for the liberty and freedom of the people.

In that spirit, I have included some online sources where you can read more on Religious Liberty, and most importantly, get involved with like-minded men and women of good conscience who are concerned with the direction this country is moving.  They are getting involved, and so can you.

And if you do, you will have the inner peace to know that even though you may not be asked to give your lives as the Early Christian martyrs did, you are standing strong just as they did in a world that is drifting so far from the moorings of the safe harbor of Morality.

Ordinances of the Temple Given in the New Testament and at the time of Adam

The Ordinances of the Temple were instituted by the Lord in the New Testament, as they were originally in the days of Adam.

About the Endowment, Brigham Young has said, “Your endowment is, to receive all those ordinances in the house of the Lord, which are necessary for you, after you have departed this life, to enable you to walk back to the presence of the Father, … and gain your eternal exaltation.” Brigham Young in Discourses of Brigham Young, sel. John A. Widtsoe (1941), 416.

The Endowment is spoken of in the New Testament, where the Savior, after he was resurrected and before sending the apostles out to teach, said to "tarry ye at Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high." (Luke 24:49 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/luke/24.49 )

And there are the sealing ordinances there, too.  After Peter declared that Jesus was the Christ, The Savior said to him "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:19 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/16.19 )

That is what happens in Temples. This power to bind on earth and in heaven was restored to the prophet Joseph Smith and recorded in the Doctrine and covenants multiple times (D&C 127:7, D&C 124:93, D&C 132:46, D&C 128).

Additionally, the baptisms for the Dead were spoken by Paul, who said "Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all?  why are they then baptized for the dead?"  (1 Corinthians 15:29 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/1-cor/15.29).  In this modern era, this ordinance is done as it was done in the New Testament church, so that our ancestors who never heard the gospel, or those who never heard of Christ can return to the presence of the Lord.  For the Savior said all must be baptized in John 3:5, when he said "except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven." (https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/3.5 ).

We are told in modern revelation that these same ordinances were given to Adam, and later to Abraham.  For more on this topic, see the search page https://www.lds.org/search?lang=eng&query=temple+ordinances+adam

Because of the miracle of the Restoration of the Gospel, the sacred temple ordinances the Savior established in New Testament times, and back in the time of Adam, have been restored to this earth to bless our Father in Heaven's children. With the miracle of temple work, all of Father in Heaven's children who have ever lived on the earth, and who would have accepted it if they were alive, will be able to have the opportunity to accept or reject those blessings, and inherit all that our Father in Heaven has. And these blessings were spoken of in the Bible.

And for us, when we go to the temple to do the work of our dead, we are able to feel of God's presence. The Doctrine and Covenants states "my glory shall rest upon it; Yea, and my presence shall be there, for I will come into it., and all the pure in heart shall see God" (D & C 97:15-16 http://bit.ly/14GTNd6 )

The spirit in temples is stronger than in any other place on earth. While there we can perform sacred ordinances for our ancestors that are necessary for them to return to the presence of God. Find out more about temples by going to http://www.lds.org/church/temples

A Conversion Story: "the Lord's words, the Lord's power and the Lord's promises"

How great will be your joy if you bring just one soul to the Father. A conversion story: "the Lord's words, the Lord's power and the Lord's promises"

The work is going forward.  Here is a story from my niece as a missionary, and her story of the conversion of a man she was teaching.

In her words; "We also have another baptism coming up this weekend. He's an older gentleman and met the missionaries at the Oakland temple visitors center..., and then started learning  everything down here. The other sisters had only taught a lesson or two, but he was very hesitant to be baptized. I think it was my third lesson with him that we finally committed him. Okay fine, I did it. First baptismal commitment of the mish. It was actually one of the most powereful ones I've felt since being out here. We were in the middle of a lesson when my scriptures blew open to a passage about baptism I had marked. I felt impressed to have him read it, so I did. Sis Poz had no idea what I was doing, here is this little greenie ruining a perfectly good lesson, but afterwards I was able to promise him specific things that I never could have thought of on my own. My words were not my own. They were the Lord's words, the Lord's power and the Lord's promises. It was so neat. Everyone was tearing up. And he said he'd be baptized! So yeah." Sister Katie Monson

As the prophet Joseph said “The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done” (History of the Church, 4:540).

May we all be ready to be an example and to share the gospel with others.  How great will be your joy.  You will never regret having said something and providing that opportunity to hear more.  You are doing the work of the Lord.

It is never just one that comes to the gospel.  When one is converted to the gospel, it also brings thousands of their posterity to the gospel, and makes it possible for temple work to be done for generations of their ancestors as they do their work for them.

Only through Christ can we live

The Savior said to Peter "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (http://bit.ly/16y1Yey)

The Savior loves us with a love we cannot comprehend.  He descended below all things so that we may return back to him and our Father in Heaven again with our families.  And it is only through him that it is so.

May we all take the time to pour our hearts out in gratitude to our Father in Heaven for the gift of his only begotten son, and take a moment afterwards to wait for the Lord's response through the spirit.  Then, may we love others as the Savior would have us do.

"Why Stand ye gazing?" Christ's Atonement at work in the heavens and on earth

"And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1:10-11 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/acts/1.10-11 )

The Savior still lives today, and works for our salvation.  As our prophet says, he is in the details of our lives, and he will come again, in power and great glory, to rule and reign upon the earth, as he and his servants complete the work begun in Temples in these Latter-Days.

This church will never again be taken from the earth, and with Christ at its head, will be the means of bringing billions to a knowledge of Christ, of helping people to remember that they are children of a loving Father in Heaven.

As these angels said.  Christ will come again, in like manner, and will finish his work upon the earth.  And we will be able to help in that work, no matter what side of the veil we will be on, because he is the Savior of both the living and the dead.

To Be Welcomed back into the Presence of the Lord

Our loved ones who have gone on before can be welcomed home into the Savior's arms through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

And because of the Atonement of the Savior, we can be together again with them, our Father in Heaven, and Savior, Jesus Christ.  In the words of the familiar children's song...

"I have a family here on earth
they are so good to me
I want to share my life with them
through all eternity.

Families can be together forever
Through Heavenly Father's Plan
I always want to be with my own family
And the Lord has shown me how I can"

May we ever follow the Lord, so we can return to his presence again.

In his constant care-do we reach out to him?

"This painting is a visual reminder of one of His most comforting messages regarding the worth of each individual soul. “Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:6-7)

As I look at the intricate design of these little sparrows, experience tells me that where there is a design, there is a designer! It is a comforting thought to consider that somewhere there is a Creator who is aware of and has love for even the least of His creations. There is incredible intimacy in the vastness of this thought."
-Greg Olsen - 1998

The Savior is there, and he watches over us.  Even if it feels like sometimes we are alone, he is still there, watching us, trusting us, and his love for us never ends.  May we ever trust in him, and be willing to go through whatever he would ask us to go through.  For our worth to him is beyond price, and more than any sparrows.

As you pray to him, you will be able to feel of his love for you through the spirit.  May we ever do that.

Jesus increased in...favour with God - do we?

"There was very little written of the boyhood of Jesus. I love the passage from Luke: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” (Luke 2:52) And from the book of Acts, there is a short phrase concerning the Savior which has a world of meaning: “[He] went about doing good.” (Acts 10:38) -(President Thomas S Monson, He is Risen, Conference Address April 2010 General Conference)

We know the Savior knew the scriptures, because he quoted them often.  No doubt he spent time in them, studying them, and hearkening when the spirit whispered to him that he was the promised Messiah spoken of.

May we all do the same, study the scriptures, and pray earnestly to know their meaning, and more importantly, pray to know our relationship to our Father in Heaven, and Savior Jesus Christ.  Study in the scriptures and pray to know who we are, and who we can become with the help of the Lord.

As we do, and as we keep God's commandments, we will feel the sweet peace of the spirit fill our hearts, and we will come to know that we are children of a loving Father in Heaven.  And that we have a loving Savior, Jesus Christ, who though sinless, gave his life for us.  May we remember that.  And Feel if it in our hearts and souls.

"Lovest thou me?" Do we?

Do we all liken the words of the Savior to Peter unto ourselves, and follow the savior's counsel to feed his sheep, by serving, loving, and helping those around us.  Do we do that in our families, at home, at church,  in our communities, and in all places that we are in?  Remember what the Savior said to Peter:

"when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep."  (John 21:15-17 http://bit.ly/154kTu6 )

The people around us are his sheep, some waiting to be brought back to the fold of him who would love them, care for them, and lift them so they can return to the presence of the Father.  May we ever do that, and we will rejoice with them in the Father's Kingdom.  There is no greater joy than to dwell with them there.

That is what we are here on earth to do.  Reach out to others in love, as the Savior would if he were here.  He longs for them.  Feed them, and do what he would do.  Commit now, and how great will be our joy then.

The Welcoming, Comforting Embrace of the Savior

After we have finished our mission in this life, can we imagine being embraced by the Savior when it is time to return home?  What joy will fill our hearts at that time if we have endured to the end and followed him.  Can we imagine him saying to us:

"Come unto me in my kingdom; and with me ye shall find rest” (3 Ne. 28:3 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/28.3

Further, can we imagine after a lifetime of service to the Lord being welcomed back by him saying "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (Matthew 25:21 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/25.21 )

What sublime peace will fill our hearts at that time.  Until it is our time to return home, may we live worthy of the companionship of the spirit, for it is sent by our Father in Heaven in the Savior's name for us, to comfort, strengthen, and help us.  When we have the spirit we feel just as if the Savior were there, beside us.  I pray that all may feel of that joy, for it is free unto all who come unto the Savior.

A man of sorrows, and our comforting Redeemer

The Savior has experienced everything we can ever, and is so loving as to be able to reach into the depths of our souls and heal the pain we do not show, the sorrow that is only able to be healed by him, the fear only calmed by him.  This is the Power of the atonement, to change people's hearts.  He knows.

As the Prophet says "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief...Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows...But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:3 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/ot/isa/53.3 )

May we ever turn to the Savior in all things, and be comforted through the spirit, be lifted, strengthened, and truly loved by a Savior who is real, and is there for each of us.

"Behold, I am Jesus Christ...the life and the light of the World"

"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I am the life and the light of the world. I am the same who came unto mine own and mine own received me not; But verily, verily, I say unto you, that as many as receive me, to them will I give power to become the sons [and daughters] of God, even to them that believe on my name." (D & C 11:28-30 http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/11.28-30 )

As we have more Faith in Christ our hearts will be changed, our desires will become more like his, and at the last day we will embrace our Savior having become like him, and what joy will fill our hearts at that time. To feel his loving arms around us, to feel joy that we have lived our lives so that we become like him, and to gain our exaltation.

We can feel a bit of that love every day of our lives as we serve others and do the work of the Lord. As we serve him, his love can touch our hearts, and we can feel of his presence near.  Such joy and love comes from that.  He is real, and he truly is the light of the world, and as you come to him in his holy house, the temple, he will come to you.

Pour your hearts out to the Father in gratitude and faith, do his work, and feel of the Love of the Savior in return. For because of him, we have light in our own lives.

Being alive in Christ, as little children

May we all become as little children, alive in Christ, trusting him and taking joy in the smallest of God's creations.  "But little children are alive in Christ, even from the foundation of the world." (Moroni 8:12).  And in the new testament we read "Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 18:3 ).  May we all remember that we are our Father in Heaven's children, and he takes joy in us as he helps lift us, protect us, comfort us and strengthen us.

The Sacredness of the Sacrament

Remember that it is as if the Savior himself were giving the Sacrament to us when we take of it. For those who administer those sacred emblems do so in his place. The Savior himself instituted the sacrament in remembrance of his sacrifice for us.

May we remember that if we are willing to take upon us his name, to comfort those in need of comfort, to lift others, his spirit will be with us. Below are both accounts of him instituting it, in the New Testament and in the Book of Mormon.

"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (Matthew 26:26-28 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/26.26-28

And in the Book of Mormon:

"And when the disciples had come with bread and wine, he took of the bread and brake and blessed it; and he gave unto the disciples and commanded that they should eat.

And when they had eaten and were filled, he commanded that they should give unto the multitude.

And when the multitude had eaten and were filled, he said unto the disciples: Behold there shall one be ordained among you, and to him will I give power that he shall break bread and bless it and give it unto the people of my church, unto all those who shall believe and be baptized in my name." More at 3 Nephi 18:3-11 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/18.3-11 )

The Light of the World, The Light in our lives

In a world seemingly full of turmoil, the Love of the Savior stretches from before the foundations of the Earth into the eternities and beyond. The power of his love touch the tenderest or hardest of hearts, and prepare us to live in the presence of God. Our salvation is his very reason for existence. He is personal enough to know the pains in the quiet chambers of our hearts, and can help transform those into lives filled with Love. He can work miracles in all of our lives, and truly does, if we but have faith and come unto him.

He said to the Nephites "I am the light and the life of the world. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end."  Because of the power of the atonement, his light is in all of creation.  He is what sustains us. (3 Nephi 9:18 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/9.18)

May we ever come unto Christ, and have everlasting life, and be comforted in this life.  He will ever be there for us as a comforting, succoring Savior, and the meaning in our lives.

"I Lay Down My Life for the Sheep"-One Fold and One Shepherd

What wonderful promises the Lord makes to us with the analogy of sheep and the Good Shepherd. "And he gathereth his children from the four quarters of the earth; and he numbereth his sheep, and they know him; and there shall be one fold and one shepherd; and he shall feed his sheep, and in him they shall find pasture" (1 Nephi 22:25 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/22.25

All of us are children of the Lord, and as we come to him, and are baptized by proper authority, we come into his fold as we continue to keep his commandments and rely on him.  All who come to him may find his peace.

He also speaks to those of us working in the flock, "Feed the flock of God which is among you...And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away" ( 1 Peter 5:2-4 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/1-pet/5.2-4 )

As our Prophet Says, may we ever be found doing the work of the Lord, so that at the last day, we may be crowned with Glory and Immortality in his kingdom, and enjoy the presence of the Lord.

All of this made possible by the Atonement of Jesus Christ, who elsewhere has said "I lay down my life for the sheep." (John 10:15 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/john/10.15) May we come to the Good Shepherd, who gave his life for you and me, sealed by his blood.  And with the Good Shepherd, we and our families can find rest and peace that "surpasseth all".

"The Firstfruits of them that slept...He is Risen!"

"But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept." (1 Corinthians 15:20 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/1-cor/15.20 )

How glorious are the words spoken by the angel, "He is not here: for he is risen!" (Matthew 28:6 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/matt/28.6 )

The Savior had triumphantly claimed the victory over sin and death, so that all would be resurrected, and if we live worthy, to gain eternal life and exaltation.

What wondrous words proclaimed this ultimate, eternal, infinite triumph.

May we ever follow Christ, follow his commandments, and stand strong for our beliefs.  He will ever be at our side as we do.

Picture is "The First" by Jared Barnes

"This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!"

"I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" (Joseph Smith-History 1:16-17 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/pgp/js-h/1.16-17 )

Joseph Smith Saw God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. He bore that testimony his entire life. In Joseph's words "I had actually seen a light, and in the midst of that light I saw two Personages, and they did in reality speak to me; and though I was hated and persecuted for saying that I had seen a vision, yet it was true...I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it."

Through subsequent visions and heavenly visitations, Christ's true gospel was restored to the earth, to bless us in this life, and to be exalted in the next, to dwell with our Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ forever.

I hope you take a moment in your prayers to thank our Father in Heaven for the blessings of the Restoration, to let him know you love him, and wait for the response as you do. You will be able to feel of the love of God for you. This restoration is so individual and personal as to be able to lift you in all your cares of life.
